What a great result to see the Swans get up last Sunday. The swans will be pleased with the form of their second tier players.

Watching the game I thought Lachie Foott was great for the Swans, he provided a lot of drive for them and really contributed to their turn around in the 2nd half. He thorougly deserves his play in the 22 this week after being a bit shaky the week before.

Evening all, I heard today from a top dog at the Eagles that they are seeking a top line coach for season 2009, and looking to pay 25-30k plus $1000 cash per senior player that the coach can sign to the club. Great money we all know that they need to attract some guns, lets hope that they get one and get back into the mix.

I have heard he will require a pin? any truth in this? Gillingham to come in to take his place you would imagine from the pio's.
Where exactly did you obtain your errant information?? He seems to think it will come up quite nicely. Spoke to him Saturday night and didn't seem too bad. I think the wing being in a sling after the game was precautionary. Filo won't leave anything to chance as would any of the coaches still in the race.
It is nearly that time of year for Kerang, but how has everybody's Mad
Mondays going?? Any tales worthy of a spot on Big Footy??

It will be interesting to see how he goes. I would think that after his experience and the elite level he would know how to look after himself and be doing everything he can to get up for the game tomorrow. Very good player and will have an influence on the game even if only 90% fit.

Made the trip to Barham today, good performance by the Swans - looking a very good side. Holt the key up forward and Brown holding things together down back. I've got an inkling the Swans could go all the way if there second tier players can stand up eg. Lachie Foott. Very under-rated, who was on him today?

i believe the swans have played their grand final , Kerang inthe bag 2008 , sean the master coach in the central murray , responding to your qoute i wouldnt be confident on having browny down back , he slow to move and easily pushed off the ball and does not read the play that well from watching him play on good forwards . but the same time congrats to beasy who s got this side to the GF ,

Mate, what a rediculous comment at this stage, yes shaun is a good coach getting teams to grandfinals, but if we cast our minds back he has only won 1 think in the last 8 years (if im correct).. 2000 lost to nyah, kerang against balranald 200? they won, had balranald in last year lost and this year, he is a master of getting them in yes, but it doesnt count if you dont win them.... and i think this week it will be a even game across the board...they only beat swan hill by 3 goals on their last meeting.. Both teams are evenly poised backline, midfield and forwards should set up a mouth watering grand final....

Here is my Two Cents on Saturday's decider:
I quickly jotted down both sides and likely match-ups and I feel the Swans (who will no doubt go in underdogs) match-up very, very well against KRA. Troy Thamm, Lee and Adam Pollock at various stages, Kobi Wilson and Lachlan Bott on occassion forward for Kerang is dangerous but I see Grant Tasca, Josh Rankins, Scott Brown and Callan Beasy well and truly being able to stop them. Obviously not all the Blues players I mentioned will be forward. One Pollock will always be in the ruck and either Wilson or Bott will be back for sure, maybe both. Up the other end. Hugh Foott, Dwayne Holt, possibly big Nodin Peters, Jason Krueger and on occassion Justin Davies in my opinion will cause alot of trouble for Wilson / Bott, Mark Walter, Bryce Hall and Travis Matheson. I think it comes down to the midfield. If Swan Hill enter their forward line more than Kerang they will be crowned premiers. Foott is too big and strong for any of the Blues backs. And Holt is in ominous form.

One last thing, people are (fair enough too) raving about young gun Chris McMahon, Bombers players Grant Ford and Steve Stroobants whilst Kerang's most talked about are JBM Chris Gibson, Kiel Robertson and Bryden Morison. I think we are fogetting a very capable, yet to reach his pinnacle Justin Davies. I have heard on a number of occassions he has just been coasting until this moment. Saturday he may show why he is still, in my eyes, worthy of a spot on a list.

also looking at the cmfl website it has dwayne holt sitting on 93 goals! if the swans spearhead can reach the magical 3 figures on saturday could we expect the traditional crowd invasion???

I've also decided to show my analysis and prediciton 4 saturday's game:

i believe that this game has it all and we could b in 4 something special... gr8 match ups all around the ground and the midfield battle looks a beauty and will most likely be the determining factor in who wins the game with davies, kruger, mcmahon and co. going up against the the likes of gibson, morrison, robertson (if fit). this provides a fascinating battle as the swans midfielders should be prepared to b accountable as a majority of kerangs score comes from there midfield! the swans backline may have the edge over the kerang fowards with the class of brown, tasca and beasy up against the likes of the pollocks and thamm. at the other end of the ground holt, kruger and h.foott will need to provide the bulk of the scoring for the swans and will need 2 continue there good form throughout this finals series. The x - factors for both sides will b anythony foott from swan hill. a noted performer who received the bog award in 05 and can play at any side of the park and even in the midfield. for the blues young ryan gillingham will need 2 b monitored very closely by the swans as he can b very damaging setting up across halfback, running the lines in the midfield or even marking on the lead and kicking goals up forward..

This game shapes up as one 2 remember with the blues going as favourites but with the swans playing on there home ground will b hell bent on bringing home the holy grail 4 the 18th time!

My prediction; swans by 13 points,
D.Holt 4 BOG with 7 goals that will see him reach the magical 100 goal mark!

as already stated, this game is as even as could be this year and without going into detail again i think it will be as simple as this.... i believe shaun filo will pull somthing out of his magical bag of tricks and lead his side to a narrow victory with greg dickson being awarded best on ground... good luck to everyone playing on saturday....

What a bloody stupid thing to say bootz. The umpires obviously though he was in the best on a lot of occassions and therefore he polled the most votes. Just because others did not play every game does not mean Joel is not a deserving winner. Maybe a few of the other young blokes around the league should try playing a couple of games every week like Joel did and then see how they go.

Joel did a terrific job from what i observed this year and to come on here and discredit his win is piss poor

Gee, a couple of reply posts about my thoughts are quite biased. I, however, have no more than an on-lookers interest in the clash. I am affiliated with another squad. But, let's be realistic you blokes, Dwayne Holt and Hugh Foott are far too big, far too agile and far too strong for whomever the Blues decide to go with. I'm by no means saying Swan Hill will win but get it in quickly one on one to the dynamic duo and Kerang will be in trouble.

Mark Walter: Maybe strong enough to man Holt, but is nowhere quick or athletic enough. Is far too undersized against a 196cm agile Foott.

Kobi Wilson: As tall as both easily but lacks the body strength simply because he is not a mature body like the forwards are. However, in saying that I would go with him on Hughy.

Lachlan Bott: Little similar to Walter, strong, yet not quick enough to go with Holt, (let's not forget Holt has a tremendous vertical leap). Bott is my choice to play on Holt.

Feel free to have a return crack at my thoughts, that's exactly what this site is for. Hope it's a great game

Well done to Swan Hill on the victory. Watched the match closely, even decided to put the beers on ice to concentrate on the contest!

Felt Josh Rankins did a wonderful job after Chris Gibson took control of the first quarter. Gibson was a non-factor after quarter time.

Hugh Foott took countless marks in defence. I was absolutely amazed he was aloud to roam free in defence. It almost was the decisive factor.

Dwayne Holt from full forward was excellent. He leads as hard and attacks the contest as hard as any forward I have seen.

The Swans on-ballers importantly won the midfield battle. Justin Davies took over in the second half, Chris McMahon showed why he is a 'young gun' and others to contribute well in there were Grant Ford, Steve Stroobants, Leighton Dullard and Shaun Lawry.

Down back Grant Tasca, Luke Kiel and Scott Brown were a brick-wall and also provided run.

Tough to see the Blues lose all three, they're a dominant club and I'm sure they will be back again next year just as strong. Bring on 2009

As an avid Kerang supporter, it was devastating to see the boys fall over at the last hurdle. One thing is for sure... they will come back bigger and better and more determined in '09.

Congrats must go to the Premiers in all grades of Footy and Netball.

well its my time of year again time for me to let everybody know what silly season has bought to the table:

sounds like mass exodus from tyntynder with just about every man and his dog being lured to coach/play elsewhere. corrie to coach woorinen, o'toole to coach ultima, nalder was offered the lalbert job but will most likely play at moulamein. lalbert have spoken to everyone about coaching offered it to glen boyd from woorinen and now it sounds like danny o'bree/chopper mcintyre are the front runners. wes lewis to coach woorinen unless they can find a suitable playing coach. cohuna chased far and wide down around Ovens & Murray through Lavington area to then appoint keiran treacy from the next town. lake boga seem to have done a good job and have nearly 100% of their list tied up for next year with the exception of forsyth wo is reportedly heading north for summer and then back over his hometown way to coach. swan hill would keep the majority of their players except for a few retirements. t/m boys are on the move back to mildura and will be a completely different outfit next season with at least 6 of their most important players reportedly on the move far and wide.

Danny O'Bree is also a chance at united, especially being a former premiership player and being involved in the nyah district with his father being a horse trainer at wood wood and danny driving for him, etc. Would think most clubs would be trying hard to secure his services. But as you said rumour, has to sell his sports store first.

Yes Cohuna did just get a coach from the next town and a good move too. But there will be a few players from different areas that will be going there next year. I heard they have a ruckman plus a gun in Nathan Zerafa who last year played at Greenvale under Steve MacPherson.

Cohuna need to worry less about finding midfielders and ruckmen as that was the least of their problems. They had a big guy in the centre that got 90% of tap outs in the centre and around the ground and they had a gun midfield in Bell, and Bradley etc. They need to focus on recruiting a goal kicker, Easton can't go on forever and Warry never lived up to expectations. Goals win games and the fact is that they manage to get the ball out of the centre with class but once it hits the forward 50 it comes to a stand still with a lack of leads and a huge lack of acuracy.

A few things I have heard...
Kane Robbins is being chased heavily by a few CMFL clubs. Kerang, Lake Boga and Woorinen the three I know of. Not sure what type of guy he is but I know he would be a superb pick-up for which ever club.

I hope Kerang can secure Luke Livingston and Ian Prendergast even though I support another team because it's great to get former AFL players to the league to enhance it's reputation. We are not widely regarded as a strong league.

Mark Corrie has his heart set on coaching, not sure how the neck is...
Tyntynder may lose a fair few and fall right down the table...
Hopefully a club can sign Glenn Boyd, he is a great player...

It would be good to see some different teams up there this coming season, the likes of Leitchville, Cohuna, Lake Boga, Koondrook, just to make it interesting. And hopefully Nyah and Lalbert can win a few...

Kain Robins originally from Hopetoun, 6'3" or 4, great skills, did play some Bendigo Bombers. Had an article written about him couple of year ago comparing him to Wayne Carey, was playing at CHF and getting 30+ touches. Has won league medal in Bendigo as well.

From my understanding billy, Swan Hill will be able to retain their core group of players. Obiviously Beasy, Davies, Holt, A Foott, H Foott, B Burke and S Lawry will again provide another strong basis for the Swans. With rumours of past players returning i would think they should feild a strong line up in 2009. Maybe a couple of retirements with older players such as S Brown and B Monk possibly hanging up the boots - although i think both showed throughout the finals series and on GF day that they could play on next year.

Hard to see Jase Krueger leaving Swan Hill after a very successful season. Despite him and Corrie being close he is also very tight with Anthony Foott and a couple of other Swans. Married to a Foott also. Yes I don't see the Bombers players being around but could be around come finals time a la this season.

From my hearings, Wes Lewis is coaching but the Tigers are looking for a suitable on-field coach to join forces with 'Gup'. Corrie is a person of interest but neck is an issue. Brock Parsons could be a smoky. As could Lance Brown alothugh I can see him returning to Lalbert.

So does anyone have an actual status on Kane Robbins for 2009 or is he just another heavily chased player who was never really coming here ?
