Is woorinen buying some decent players who are head cases again or some good people like they finally did a little bit this year?

Is there any movement at Koondrook /Barham ,Cohuna or Leitchville/Gunbower?
Koondrook/Barham have just been looking to fill thier list with regular senior players. Not sure about L/G to be honest been quiet down that way will retain there echuca players will lose jennings as he will be travelling next year. Cohuna have been recruiting very hard signed a couple i think another two should be announced soon midfielder and and a chf still in the mix for jason johnson if he doesnt go to greenvale. anyone tell me how lalbert is goin?

Expecting Lalbert to secure a coach in the not too distant future. Have spoken to plenty of guys from the district to take the helm but from what I can gather not many are keen. Some that Lalbert have had talks with or made offers to include Glenn Boyd, Brock Parsons, Clint Kelly, Marcus Nalder, Lance Brown, Josh Bode, Mark Corrie, Brent Forsyth, Josh Jenkins and Travis Garth. Only some of those guys were asked to coach. I wish them the best but hope they are trying to secure a half dozen solid players instead of one stud. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lance Brown back out there. Woorinen still looking for the suitable character to join Wes Lewis. Corrie was in it but looks like a Dedini is involved. Unsure which one. Must be Nigel as the other two are away correct... ? Right now this is how the coaching situation sits. (Feel free to add or correct)
K/B - Unknown, possibly Brad Ryan...
L/G - Matthew Hawken but should look for a fresh start
Coh - Kieran Treacy after looking all over Australia
Lal - Watch with interest, monies on Brown or Parsons
LB - Matthew Flemming with possibly Glenn Smith or another candidate
SH - Callan Beasy
Tyn - Unsure, highly unlikely it will be Parsons, possibly a Clint Kelly type...
Ker - Shawn Filo with a joint who is yet to be decided upon
Woor - Wes Lewis (non-playing) with a Dedini
T/M - Ash Thompson
Bal - Unknown, maybe Jacka again
Nyah - Unknown but would be looking for a new man I'd think

Certainly is an inteesting time in the CMFL at the minute with lots of speculation surrounding player movements. Lots of clubs talking with the same players which will make negotiations interesting.
Is Peter Taylor not going around again for Barham??? If not the new coach definitely won't be Brad Ryan as he is Nullawils new man in charge. Must nearly be time for Matt Hawken to hand over the reigns at Leitchville surely and my sources are telling me that Tyntynder will have a coach appointed by the end of the week

Fairly sure Peter Taylor's coaching Barham again next year. And surely LG will be looking for someone new to take charge. Who's in the mix for Tyntynder?

peter taylor signed a two year contract to coach raiders, matt hawkins would rather someone else coach LG but unable to find one suitable so he takes it on does a good job i think!!
Jeremy phelan back to boga is the rumour?
as he got dropped in the finals series for swan hill.
Also how has lalbert got the money all of a sudden to try and buy six solid footballers?

he is refering to glen boyd...new player to the league this year, definately ranks as one of the best forwards in the league...hard to say how good he could be in a good team but was outstanding for woorinen when they were terrible...and im assuming your refering to kain robbins from the bendigo league, played both forward and back for eaglehawk and played backline for the vcfl div1 team...

Two things on previous posts:
Very unlikely to see Jeremy Phelan (or for that matter much player movement within the league) out at Lake Boga. The points system doesn't allow for fringe footballers looking for a new club. Don't get me wrong, Phelan may well be in a 22 at Lake Boga or another club but he would not be worth using 7 points on if he is infact a 7 point player which I assume he is...
And...
Can anyone throw up some names for the Tyntynder coaching gig...
If it were to be a player from within the team I'd think Clint Kelly is the only realistic option as I hear Nalder, Parsons, O'Toole and Dedini will all be moving on. And Carroll is not a coach which he would happily admit.

Yeah i here Luke O'Toole is joining his brothers, Matt and Lachy in Bendigo to play for Golden Square. Good pick up for the square.
Clint Kelly would be good but, does he have the pulling power to recruit a couple of guns? Even if he does, tyntynder traditionally don't pay much for players. Therefore, would have a battle on his hands to get the type of players needed to get them back in the finals series in '09.

I have also heard that Luke O'Toole will be coaching Ultima next season, and taking Brad Carroll there with him? I think the plan is for Luke to coach and the hopefully the other 2 O'Toole's follow? Heard this around the start of September, could well be horses#!t for all i know but was just the word around

Yes I also heard the Luke O'Toole rumour about him coaching Ultima. Would expect him there more so than Golden Square as I doubt he is looking to move and I doubt Square are happy for him not to train...
Big loss to the Dogs and league...
Clint knows some guys and has played both in Darwin and up North so he would have a few but the budget he would be given doesn't allow for him to acquire any of those players... Slim pickings at Tyntynder I suspect...
Nalder to Moulamein also

i think luke is deciding between ultima and tyntynder coaching jobs...very very unlikely he would go to golden square...the most likely scenario would be him to coach ultima and lach and matt to play there together one last time before matt retires...
what about corrie?
is he a chance on coaching the dogs???
The Fourth Son
16 Oct 2008, 18:41
From what I can gather Corrie is just happy to coach. He is not overally worried about where that may be. I know he has spoken to Lake Boga and Woorinen about a joint role... Tyntynder 'big wigs' were quite displeased when they heard he was talking himself up as a coach when they were still a finals chance. Highly unlikely he will coach Tyntynder. I'd say 2% Dogs, 5% Pies, 5% Tigers and 88% he won't get a role. After all, his neck is not proven to be fit...
I hope he can coach though, he is a great fella and gun player when on song
if brock goes from tyntynder where will he head to?
Is woorienen recruiting big or just trying to find a coach at this stage?
what about tooleybuc, are they doing to recruit some big players or trying to pick locals like balranald did this year.

The interest in Tyntynder mate is because there is so much unknown about guys staying or leaving. I will say one thing Clifton... A player saying they are 100% committed to next season in October is one thing, seeing them return for pre-season is another. Corrie has signed a contract SO YOU SAY! I am not convinced sorry, he wants a coaching role! You cannot deny that......
yeah, but seamons is the one of the main men at the dogs, so i'd say he'd have the info and besides every year there is speculation Corrie is going elsewhere but i still haven't seen him leave since he's been at the doggies kennel.

was at a bbq at seamons house on the weekend for carroll's 30th and can fully support the statements above. only departure from dogs is hayes who is going to work in mines. collins, o'toole and ewart were the only ones still swinging and they all committed in the week just gone.
with some renewed energy and excitement around the club about some things that are in progress sounds like the dogs will be right up there next year with a few key signings within the next week i would say.

Embarassed about potential, or embaressed with the coach? It was unbelivable to witness so much back stabbing and blokes talking about ther coach behind his back. Yep great club, If your not in your not in at the dogs kennel.

Have heard a few clubs are really finding it tough gaining the signature of decent coaches. Lake Boga, Lalbert and Tyntynder were the teams I heard were having trouble sercuring a quality name. Is there no coach-worthy talent among their lists ? Or do coaches just want too much cash ?
Good Luck Clifton in your endeavours with the Kennel but there is no way on earth that side is only losing one player. Plenty have had more than one meeting with opposition sides. Remember it is still October, players will probably change there mind's a dozen times before d-day comes around

Damian O'Callaghan from Barooga in the Murray footy league.
I would say that their old coach in Jason Kerr has put them on to him, plays in the midfield and is pretty hard at it.
Yeah i here Luke O'Toole is joining his brothers, Matt and Lachy in Bendigo to play for Golden Square. Good pick up for the square.

Luke O'Toole will not be joining his brothers at Golden Square and is highly unlikely to head out to Ultima.
Clint Kelly for coach??? Don't you require some type of intelligence to do that job...
i can't understand how the players would be upset with parsons when he didnt have the cattle to do well this year..
If the dogs keep their way of not paying players at the quanity that are other teams are willing to offer then the dogs results will weaken by the year..
Parsons is a workhorse and leads by example on and off the football field. it would be hard to see tytynder appointing anyone that has better accolades and values such as leadership, football brain and dedication than Brock Parsons.
On another note..
Why would people even listen to rumours about Woorinen?
1st they were supposedly going to recruit ex lion Daryl White, were going to recruit 6 SANFL players, then recruited Darwin players with one of them sacked and the other two causing problems, then they recruited SANFL players who left half way through the season.. Every year Woorinen are supposely going to recruit hugely but for at least five years i havent seen any promising results, besides their talented youth.. but how long will they be able to keep them?

I guess that depends on the ego and the motivation of the coach.
I don't know him, but if he was a decent coach you would think he would be happy if his team is improving and not worried about how much $ he is on himself compared to others!!

Dont make excuse for them, parsons may train hard and have the braun, but not brains. i have been told by certain players that he sets his team rules or game plan for a saturday but doesnt follow them himself, how is that being a leader if you dont follow the game plan yourself...

As an ex local woora player, i think the comment on woora, going around saying in the PAST that they are getting this and that player is a fair call. but i do believe that last yr they took a massive step in the right direction, not recruiting footballers for the sake of getting players. They may have recruited lightly, but they got decent players to the club, and i think that is more important for the clubs future as a whole.. in defence of the club, is it the worst thing that ever happened to the club with all those darwin/adelaide players moving on??? also, White did say that he was going to play, so i think that was fair enough that ppl did get excited about it. just my opinion of course..
i think tyntynder's team on paper is up there with the best of them... o'toole, corrie, nalder, dedini, carroll, clint kelly, adam kelly, paul munro, poltrock, dodd, and thats off the top of my head
well thats didn't get them in the finals well did it? and its about depth to. every team can have a bunch of good players but the likes of swan hill, kerang and tooleybuc fringe players played vital roles compared to tyntynder.

Hey Boys,
Big of admirer off your league...I'm from Newcastle and was just dropping a line to say hi... Any of you boys ever come up Newcastle way for work, study etc... The Warners Bay Football Club is a great place and is welcoming any new players to the area with a prospect of playing footy in "09"... It's also has a great Junior operation and juniors are most welcome for those with children... Any further enquiries visit our website www.warnersbay.org.au (http://www.warnersbay.org.au/)

i suppose with how even the top 6-7 were, you could say tyntynder were extremly unlucky to miss out on the finals and probably shouldve been playing finals and the top three teams had and exceptional run with injuries... neither of them having anything too major in the second half of the year... tyntynder probably deserved to be in there instead of barham
hey im just following up on if Damien O'Callahan has been signed up as coach of woorinen. If so gun player with Barooga in the murray league and will be a great coach for the club.Im assuming playing coach

Guys think you might have the wrong brother, Damien and Rohan (brothers) both played at Barooga last few years.
Damien I think has put the cue in the rack, while younger brother Rohan is looking to coach, think you will find he the subject of Woorinen coaching appointment.
Decent player and top bloke. School teacher so wouldn't be a problem with employment.

what does everyone think about toby thoolen's delisting from collingwood after only a year?

Unforunate to hear of Tobias Thoolen's delisting. As the club will need to pay out his contract it is highly likely he will be retained as a rookie. I think the club banked on him growing a few cm to become a ruckman, when that didn't happen it became apparent he was not an AFL player in their minds. Good luck to him, he deserves a second crack. bit rough to be delisted after only 1 season, considering they drafted him as a long term ruck/key position prospect...im sure he will stay on as a rookie though

Yeah i believe Collingwood were a tad hasty in delisting the lad. For one, he was the youngest person on the list and he was always going to be a player that developed in his role. I believe he deserved at least 2-3 years on the list. Very, very stiff.

Its a fukn joke!! he only got one year!! every one knows that it takes taller players longer 2 develop.. deserves another chance, for the amount of work and hard yards he put in! he has only just turned 18, surely he will get another dig at it?? he has 2

Ah well he can help Swan Hill to another flag! :D Speaking of which what are the great pretenders Tooleytang up to in the market? Is there any chance of luring Cullen back? He is their best player and barometer of success.

Believe Tooleybuc will lose half dozen of their best 18. Not sure of name's but that was the whisper. Lance Brown comes to mind, as do both Morris boys and Sam Lowerson. Jack O'Rourke also may be moving on but is not a big loss.
Nyah are still not up with other team's in terms of cash flow so I doubt they will be recruiting very heavily alothugh I may be wrong. A new coach may be in the pipelines as Andrews was an ordinary player at best. Just a little too old.
Have heard Dean McGowan is off to Moulamein and may take a car load of mates... Any other movement to discuss...

wangaratta star nick trenfield to line up with balralnald next season, or where ever karl jacka is coaching, will be a great pick-up as was a real quality player in wangarattas two successive premierships...
Not a bad read on the back of todays Northern Times on Luke Livingston returning to Kerang for season 2009 as a playing assistant coach under Shawn Filo. Handy pick up for the Kerang boys!!!

interesting to see how kerang will pull up after the embarrasing efforts of all senior grades losing when all were predominent favourites.
Livo will be a huge recruit, chb i suppose??
Has any one found if woorien have appointed a coch signed yet??

My mistake Roota, wrote Moulamein by accident. Still, Murrabit will do with him, he can play full forward well and has (I think) kicked up around 80 goals in this league.
Is it true Brad Hein from Murrabit was signed with Kerang as well as Livingston ? What are Ian Prendergast's movements, surely they're onto him too...
Big Leigh Davies is hot property within the league. Hopefully he chooses the CMFL again. Rohan O'Callaghan was announced as Woorinen coach for whoever didn't know
Can anyone please provide some information on Shane Windridge from Koondrook Barham ?? Apparently he is a chance to re-locate down south & we're interested to find out a bit more about him (size, position etc.). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't every club pay there players per game. Surely players don't get payed if the don't play. Clubs would be mad to pay guys who are sitting on the sidelines, it's just common sense to pay guys per game.

Rumours bouncing around that Swan Hill Football Club have been fairly open about them not wanting Lalbert to play Sunday games on their ground. A few choice words have been said from Swan Hill's committee to another that they couldn't care less if Lalbert folded just means more families for them - could the Swan Hill/Lalbert friendship be over? Anyone clarify this?

Would hope that would not be the case mate. I have been away from Lalbert for a couple of years but before i left the relationship was good with us training at the ground Monday nights, my old man building their new interchange boxes etc. I would think that if Swan Hill isn't happy to do it Tyntynder would probably come to the party as Lalbert did play a Sunday game at their ground in season 08

key word is "rumours"! however, with the lack of water can the ground handle more games. it struggled a fair bit this yeah. although have you seen it lately? looking a treat!
Kerang are heavily persueing Milward from Eaglehawke and if he doesnt head over to Peelthunder with fellow team mates Robbins and Loch he will consider it.
Also heard that Vinnie "show me da money" Proud has been offered a whack from Woorineen and i think maybe Nyah or Tooleybuc.
My source also informs me Vinnie has been browsing on here lately and would to love to catch up with ROOTA6 and ED DELINE for a cuppa to clear a few things up, dont know what thats all about but anyway, choa!

Surely Tooleybuc wouldn't go down that path again, although have heard there is quite a few leaving. How old is he now anyway? Must be getting on a bit.
