No. But I know that a number of clubs, with a lot more to offer than Lakers, have approached McConnell, including former clubs, and have all been given a 'thanks, but no thanks'.
Fair enough. I did hear the marsh had a huge crack at him.

Was told last night that ex roosters b and f justin maconnell will be coaching lake wendoree next season. Anyone know or heard this?
The kids second on teh SANFL Goal Kicking over there. Either Lakers are paying him a house or they have won tattslotto. To good to come back to the BFL this young.
Does have any coaching experience either? Has Findlay left as he is a great coach?

I've heard the rumour circulating in Ballarat, agree it sounds far fetched. Findlay has stepped down as coach.

Sunbury are staying - for them to move they need a majority vote from the members. Most members like playing country footy over metro footy. Shame it would have been a good test for them.
Really looking forward to tomorrows game. Redan's midfield will be a real problem. Is it true Field had over 40p's in last year grand final?
He and Edwards are a super combination with a great understanding. The rivlary between these 2 clubs is set to grow even further. What are people's predictions?

I hope Sunbury wins but i think Redan will as i have predicted before. Sunbury need to stay focussed the whole game and play as a unit to have any chance.

Hope Sunbury bring the cup back East, where it belongs. But it will be tight one. If they don't get any sent off it will be a huge help.

Last week was the first game I have seen the whole 2nd half year, so not exactly sure what either sides formline has been like, obviously good enough to get to tomorrows day. The well coached TEAM of Redan v the erratic Sunbury talented individuals seems to be the vibe. Just great to see two ol roosters coaching in the grand final.
Redannies by 12 points, dont have the fwds going on todays teams in paper to blast anyone away. If Sunbury win, it could be by plenty.

If Redan are up by plenty with a few minutes to go there will be a couple of Redan players requesting some time on the bench. Serges last game so I would not think he would care to much about a suspension! Stupid maybe - but he will sacre the crap out of 1 or 2 players - lets hope Redan don't have to wear white shorts.

What about the $14 entry per person and the $20 for a car if you had not pre booked what a joke no wonder the league cant get the big crowd numbers like the central highlands
The GFL G/F was $12 at Skilled Stadium at least they can offer seats to everyone Rod Ward and the BFL need to have a look at themself its country footy for F U C K sake

FFAT, it is absolutely crazy isnt it. Didnt know the car price but is that right, $20 a car, my god. Your right, same as during the year, the roosters have games where it is a gold coin donation to get in.
No where near the amount of crowd as the CHFL grand final, I only went to the last half of that game but their crowd was astonishing.

The first time i have been to a BFL granny and thought the crowd was quite good, $14 was a bit stiff to get in.
I have read this thread for a little while and now i can see where some people are coming from about the drum boy. It was not bad to add abit of atmosphere but some times just kept going on and on and on and on.
As for serge moving on and going to Riddell, i'm sure that will be a big chance with them being rolled in the RDFL granny yesterday.

Just got back from Sydney so sorry for the late reply.
Redan were super on Saturday. If you showed me how many possies both Edwards and Fields had for the day before the game I would have thought Sunbury would of won. Fields reduced from 46p's the year before to 16 this year. Slieght and Sammutt were fanastic but to many of Sunbury's good players were down. Dwyer was super all day. What can you do though? You can not have 3 taggers in the middle or you will not get it out. To many times in the 2nd half the well drill Redan club set up at the back at stoppages and cleared the ball with ease. They are a very very good football team.
Interesting to hear the Redan president state on Grand Final morning that Redan played for 3rd spot during the home and away. The final 6 needs to be reduced to a final 5. 3rd gets a soft 1st game then the double chance and play 1 or 2 that have just had a huge crack at each other. Both 1 and 2 lost the following week.
Is there anyone that thinks the final 6 is the best option for the BFL?

i play in the geelong league and cant understand how you blokes can have a final 6?? a bloke from uni in brat was telling me how it worked and it clearly favours the team that finishes 3rd. we use the final 5 and it gives great reward for finishing 1st being a week off and the reward for finishing 2nd or 3rd is a double chance. i'm not sure how many teams are in your league and if that is the reason it is a final 6 but we have got 12 teams and a final 5 works fine.

It's all about revenue for Mr Ward. Having an extra game at the business end of the season, provides a little extra cash.
It doesn't end there either. In the GFL, your football membership gets players/supporters into both home and away games. But, not the BFL! Away players/supporters still have to pay at the gate, plus extra for your car.
No wonder crowd levels have decreased over the years.

Agree completely it's about revenue having a final six, and only four teams missing finals seems stupid.
Does the club or the league get the revenue from the gates?
If clubs get it why should visiting players etc not play as the money supports the clubs.

Isn't it funny that the team that is supposed to have gained the most from the final six voted to move to final five when Daylesford left? Maybe people should ask their presidents which way their clubs voted...

There should not have even been a vote, if thats the case. The league should have taken it into their own hands and told the clubs what to do, not the other way around.

From what I understand most coaches prefer a top five, I'm sure most fans would see a top five as a fairer systems but club presidents vote against a change, allegedly it's easier to recruit if you can say you played finals the previous year..
That might explain the logic behind the NBL at one stage having a final 8 in an 11 team competition! :p

Lobb is heading to QLD, Griffo O/S. The players that work for Serge may not stay. Would be surpised if Hose stayed. Brewer would have to look at at VFL if he wants to progress.
Matt Power would be a chance, so would Chooka, Scoble from Melton South or Mark Johnson from the Bombers are the names at the moment.

If Knights can get the coaching role at Essendon why not Scoble at Sunbury. His best footy is behind him but football wise he is very astute. Yeah 19th Darleys coach has signed for next year he has implemented a few things last year that will hold the devils in good stead going forward.Yeah they were no good on field this year after loosing about 14 regular senior players from last year due to various reasons, but look for a big improvement.Cape the big red dog will be back after having a couple of opps on his knee so he will be there first recruit for next year.

It was time for Demon to go after 5 years. We were better off finishing out side the 6 this year then just falling into the finals and finishing 3rd like we have the past few years we saved a heap of money and will be back bigger and better next year we will be remembered in 2007 just the same as sunbury as the team that neva won the flag. Gee the people at Darley really got it right. From 3rd to a laughing stock. You won't finish 3rd again for a long long time. GL is a plodda at best and with no players following him he will always struggle. 06 will be remember as the golden years for Darley with the pus football they will now play. Maybe you should get your mouth out of GL's fanta pants and get a kick yourself.
A number of clubs to your north chasing Matty Dwyer.
Could someone tell us a bit about him.

Gee the people at Darley really got it right. From 3rd to a laughing stock. You won't finish 3rd again for a long long time. I think he has hung the boots up.
06 was a decent year for them, but 3rd was where they were at.
To beat Sunbury twice @ Clarke Oval doesnt get accomplished too often.

Left Footed Cat is still around.
Has he been banned? Red card since July must mean he is out for good. Interesting he gets red carded in July and you start in July - also you have "Long live LFC" on your signature - both support the Blues and Darley. It may be just me but I think LFC and BBF are twins!

Maryborough Football Club in the Bendigo Football League has secured the services of Shane Fisher. We're confident he will bring much needed sucess to the club as he has done at East Point and Lexton. We are pleased to have him on board and are looking forward to a prosporous 2008.

Blue Ball Fever I have to agree totally on the mistake that the Maryborough FC has made by appointing Shane Fisher as coach, especially after reading the bendigo advertiser where they said they were looking for a playing coach, Fisher cannot play at Major League level, simple as that.
I overheard some things from current players at a certain bar that is frequented by the East Point boys saying they were looking forward to a new coach that they could talk too, someone who is not worried and paranoid, hearing this was very intersting and gave an insight to what the players actually thought of their coach, They obvioulsy did not respect him and play for him.

Why not - I can pass it onto Griffo as he has been meaning to catch up with him since Miller hid after king hitting him.

Kings Army is is true that Sunbury FC have offered Ben Jordan the coaching gig and that its a massvie amount of coin, $30k is my mail and now that serge has gone will demon stay around and be involved or is it a total new broom going through the club. After what i heard what your president said to those morons in the 2nds that day in their final v ballarat and the way they were discgraceful is this going to be the new sunbury that we see, sick of the rubbish that brings the club down.
If it is then getting a bloke like Ben Jordan would be a massive as he is respected and if you guys were to play football and recruit some more people like him then i could not see you losing a game next year.
The way you guys played in the Grand Final was very impressive and credit must go to the club for the way you presented yourself that day. Redan had the week off and thats a big advantage and from what i hear the League will be going to top 5 next season.

Just a rumour but apperantly Ben Jordan was at the royal hotel in sunbury on Tuesday night talking to all the melton officials and coaching staff...melton coach still there so maybe he will be an assistant to the melton (coach of the year) haha...bloods uniforms as far as the eye could see tuesday night...and lil ben jordan, looked to fit in pretty well...is this news massive or what could the bloods shoot back to the top of the bfl table...with east point having no coach and sunbury having a massive cleanout, 08' could be the year of the bloods

King hit! well if that was the case how did he get off its not like he has a good record.
Is it true Sunbury are having players like Griffin lobbs houls serge Clarke Henry leaving. Along with clubs chaseing the likes of Carris Mcabe Brown, Sunbury coach is going to have a tough job recruiting especially when they are leaving it so late to appoint a new one or have they got there man and are just keeping it quiet.

has anybody got any idea who will be coaching east point?
they have plenty of ex-afl players around the club who would be capable of fulfilling the role

Because Griffo does not dog any one when it comes to the tribual.
Griffo, Lobb, Hose, Serge and A-Train will not be there next year. Carriss is also very unlikely. Not sure of McCabe and Brown. But Sunbury's pockets are very deep and you are talking about some of the highest paid players at Sunbury leaving. Early to say it will be a lean year.
Don't worry about Melton - they lay low for a couple of years and then load up and when they do they usually win it. With Sunbury and Redan likely to drop off a little it will be a huge opportunity for the Meltons, Melton South, Ballarat to make a run at it next year. Who knows maybe even Darley!!

3 different clubs in the BFL in 3 years. By the time he is 30 he might play for all 10.
