Even if they do play the Darley boys will give a good account of themselves. Love the underdog and the fight/self belief they have for each other. Been very committed all week so they are closer than some people think.

Very disappointed from a spectators point of view to see redan players walk off last week without a bump or bruise on them after playing for 120 minutes. Hopefully the devils have a crack and East Point will be sore win or lose after this game. That is all you can ask.

Darley & Ballarat are the only two BFL sides not to have played in a GF since the new clubs came in. History on the line.
good luck vineyard
knock out Dj early and you are a chance
Can Keenan stand up and play full back will be the key ?
would love to see Darley win but a massive ask

Darley had a crack and put everything on the line. Ran out of legs but there will be some very sore East Point boys.

I am sure that the Redan boys will jump back on board now that it is grand final week. The two best sides (who spent the most) are in the big one so it will be a big game. Lets just hope the sun shines and the game will be a cracker.

Having seen both sides in the last two weeks i am predicting Redan to win by 5 goals. Just seem a bit tougher and better structured. DJ, McGuigan & Geljon can win games though so they need to be shut down. DJ hasnt kicked many this finals campaign. Is he due or carrying an injury?

What a great debut year from D Jordan. Won the league medal, league goal kicking, VCFL rep and possibly a premiership medal! Does not get much better than that!

Power has a lot to weigh up - he needs to be able to get 3-4 good strong players. Also with his business and family growing does he have enough time to put into the role?? It will be a close call.

Drum, Ezard, Jordan, Chooka, Roona, Scoble, Matt Power, Bearsboy would all be in the running he he stood aside.

RYANS SUPA IGA HENDERSON MEDAL

 3rd Shane Hutchinson ? East Point FNC ? 16 Votes
 3rd Troy Parker ? Darley FNC ? 16 Votes
 3rd Ryan Waight ? Redan FNC ? 16 Votes
 2nd Ben Jordan ? East Point FNC ? 20 Votes
 TIED Winners: Dan Jordan ? East Point FNC ? 21 Votes
Jarrod Edwards ? Redan FC ? 21 Votes
Dan Jordan has capped of a brilliant debut season within the Ballarat Football League in winning the 2006 Ryans Supa IGA Henderson Medal. Dan follows the achievement of his brother who won this award in his debut BFL year in 2005. Dan came to East Point in 2006 from WAFL side East Fremantle where he was regarded as a player of prodigious talent? something which all Ballarat Football League fans quickly came to appreciate. Dan was a member of the Ballarat Football League 2006 Inter-league campaign and a key member of the victorious VCFL State Representative side. Dan is an outstanding ambassador of the Ballarat Football League and role model around the East Point FNC, and is a very worthy winner as he joins the lists of greats to have won a BFL Henderson Medal. Jarrod Edwards rejoined the Redan FC this year after a couple of years with the North Ballarat FC in the VFL. Few people in the VCFL are as brilliant as winning the football as Jarrod Edwards, and this is a reflection of his ability to read they play better than most, and his hard running abilities. Jarrod is the leading hard ball ?getter? in the BFL, and is also very damaging when running forward with a great ability to kick important goals. Jarrod has been a sensation in his full year back in the BFL, and we also salute another very worthy winner of a BFL Henderson Medal.

this is all there was on the BFL website

Fairly scathing assesment Tappy, Do you know Troy at all?
probably 200 games of senior footy, former captain and B&F winner, proven player in the midfield, proven goal kicker when playing forward and there wouldnt have been too many over the last 3-4 years that got away from him when he played in the back half. 4 years as assistant coach where the side finished approx. 5th, 3rd, 4th, 3rd. Fair enough Darley are yet to make a GF but is that all Troy's fault?
He also was joint coach of Ballarat's u/18 interleague side and was joint assistant coach of the west team for the annual east V west u/18 game.

A cat & weak isnt the way id describe Scoble.

Scoble in my opinion is a sheepdog, but a very very good, smart footballer at that. Dont know how he coaches, as individuals can only answer that who have played under him.
At the Henderson Medal on Sunday night, did only hear good reviews!

This week, what a Grand Final, two of the best sides in Country Victoria, and to all the Eastern Block sides, u better start opening ya cheque books, because the BFL sides will only start getting stronger.

Also the reason why East & Redan had 7 in each, is because they are a 20 goal better side then 3rd placed. Thats how far they were in front.

Are you on a BFL club committee? If so What club?
Do you know Scoble? If so, how?

Have your opinions on Scoble, thats fine, you have every right to rate him however you choose, if he has played against you he probably rates you the same way, it is fine to have opinions, however unless you can answer any of the above three questions, your credibility will remain questioned!

Lastly, whoever is telling you that Power or Scoble wont be in coaching roles next year is very much ill informed!!! So therefore, so are you!:D

Do you play Football? If so, what level?
Are you on a BFL club committee? If so What club?
Do you know Scoble? If so, how?

Have your opinions on Scoble, thats fine, you have every right to rate him however you choose, if he has played against you he probably rates you the same way, it is fine to have opinions, however unless you can answer any of the above three questions, your credibility will remain questioned!

Lastly, whoever is telling you that Power or Scoble wont be in coaching roles next year is very much ill informed!!! So therefore, so are you!:Dwho the hell are you two freckles kingsarmy - jarman 03 go on

For Bacchus Marsh - Rod Thomas is a chance and so is Steve Kolyniuk. There are a couple of others but their names escape me at the moment.

East Point's GF side is in

They have named a 7 man bench

In: Martin Anderson, Toby Boyle, Josh Cother and Peter Blanchfield

Shane Fisher as expected not named

Adam Symes named a full forward but after the qualifying final it is unlikely he'll line there

Rumour has it the likes of Matthews or Nicholson could be outed to make room for the likes of barker, king and/or jenkins..

Think it could be real stiff for Matthews thought he has held his own this year.
Nicholson also kicked our winning goal last time we played against East. Granted it was only his third kick for the day but it still mattered? Would hate to be picking this side, with a full list, tough job for anyone!
Peace not in the team of the year, and dwyer and harris on the bench? BFL must be a stronger league than we give them credit for considering these 3 players could walk into any VFL club and dominate.

So everyone, been reading a bit of yap on this post about teams that AREN'T playing this weekend... time to get things down to business.. who is going to win and why? Lets not leave out the reserves either.

My prediction? With 6/7 inductees each in the BFL side of the year, and 2 henderson medalists, as well as an all australian, as well as leading goal kicker, could there be a more dream game of football for a grand final? My god how will we sleep on friday night? Im so pumped! What a game it will be!

Amen to that. If your not playing your drinking.

Peace, Harris & Dwyer would struggle to dominate in the VFL. Would be lucky to play senior games.

Redan will destroy East. I hope so at least.

Crap - Power has been offered the role and has 2 weeks to decide if he wants it.

Jordan's only chance to coach in Sunbury would be at Rupo!

Rumore has it the the JOrdan boys wnat to finish the career up were they strated back at rupo so it all depends on how much time left they both have, they would still have a good 4 years woudln't they?

Murrihy signs one-year deal with his lucky Lions

Ballarat Courier
Tuesday, 26 September 2006

REDAN premiership coach Kieran Murrihy has been reappointed to the top job for next year.
The playing-coach, who took the Porter Plant Lions to glory in the Ballarat Football League grand final on Saturday, said yesterday he was looking forward to coaching for a fourth year.
The finishing touches were put on a one-year deal during the two weeks leading up to the grand final win against East Point.
"I'm happy to be going around as coach again," Murrihy said.
"(During negotiations) I was trying to make sure I did the right thing for the club and for myself.
"We've been talking about it during the year and things were worked out with the board in the last couple of weeks."
Redan is expected to announce soon two senior players as Murrihy's new assistants.
Murrihy was confident support staff, including Damian Ross, Damian Linton and Grant Polkinghorne, would stay.
Murrihy said the plan was to get more people involved in leadership roles and the decision-making process.
"We've acknowledged that we want to get better with the way we do things," he said.
"We're looking at a model to get more people involved. I was keen at how we might do that and I was happy to be part of that.
"Like every organisation, we're trying to do things better to give our players the best opportunity to improve their footy."
Murrihy joined teammates at the Bunch of Grapes Hotel yesterday as they continued to celebrate their win.
Redan board member Craig Jackson said the club was rapt to have Murrihy for another season.
"He's a sensational coach and a sensational person. He was certainly our first option," Mr Jackson said.
"Kieran is heavily involved in supporting the juniors. He's a terrific person and he sees the big picture.
"He's really grown into the role. His coaching and the way he can get the players motivated, as we saw on Saturday, is terrific."
Murrihy took over the job after Brett Quinlan steered the Lions to back-to-back premierships in 2002-03.
Only four players - Ryan Knowles, Ash Barker, Jayden Reid and Adrian King - played in the three premierships.
"It was a hard job for Kieran to take over after we had won back-to-back flags, but he has really grown into the role," Mr Jackson said.
Meanwhile, Redan midfielders Brendan Peace and Julian Field tied for the team's best and fairest.
They won the award with 132 votes, ahead of Henderson medallist Jarrod Edwards (99), Ryan Waight (92) and Matt Dwyer (87).

BFL tells Redan to find cup or pay up
Ballarat Courier
Tuesday, 26 September 2006

REDAN would have to pay up for a new premiership cup if the original could not be found, Ballarat Football League chief executive Rod Ward warned yesterday.
Mr Ward said the RegionalOne BFL would not foot the $750 bill for a replacement for the original cup which was lost at a Ballarat nightclub on Sunday morning.
Redan players were celebrating their 19-point premiership win against East Point with Brisbane pair Jonathan Brown and Tim Notting and other revellers at 21 Arms when the cup went missing.
There was no news on the cup's whereabouts yesterday.
Brisbane officials were also unable to offer any clues in a report yesterday.
Mr Ward was driving and "almost ran off the road" when he heard Redan's prize had gone missing.
"If it has to be replaced it won't be replaced at our expense," he said.
"I will have to talk to the (BFL) board to see if there's a protocol for this and to see if we're able to have another one made. But that would not be at our expense."
Mr Ward said it was disappointing for the league's most sort-after prize to have gone missing in such a manner.
"If you were going to take it to a nightclub you would think you would guard it with your life," he said.
"Replacing it would cost Redan $750. But the emotional value of a new one would be nothing near the original."
The missing cup was the hottest topic of conversation at Redan's third day of celebration yesterday at the Bunch of Grapes Hotel.
Mr Blomeley was positive the cup would show up eventually.

Well learmonth i dont know what games you saw this season but from the 18 or so games i played in i dont recall every word coming out of his mouth being directed at the umpires!!! You must be thinking of Aaron James at the kangaroos!!!!! The only yelling he does is towards the players on the field!!!!

I agree with Learmonth. Having played at sunbury for an number of years, I left because of that so called "poisen" in the club. To get a game in the seniors you had to be part of the mates club of Lupson, Power, Fedoruk, Bell etc. Colby Kid I don't know how long you have been at the club, but I can remember being deeply embarressed by some of the actions of Chooka and company. They could never take responsibility for their actions. There were a couple of good years when Sommerville and Freeman coached but now the gang has returned if they don't leave, the club will continue to turn to S H I T!!

Well its been a while since my last post as i went overseas for a well earned break and come back to see a terrific Ballarat Grand Final between
two Ballarat Clubs who did not dissapoint, I have just read the weeks papers leading up to the G/F and the Ballarat Courier needs to be congratulated on the articles they done on both clubs. Congratulations to the Redan FC on a good win, The East Point Boys put up a great game and from what many people have said the season went about 2 weeks too long for them, the weeks rest that the Redan Lions had did them well and managed to be fresh in the final term and break away.

I Thought Fisher spoke well after the match as did Murrihy in their speaches, A big difference to the Sunbury 2nds Coach who let the good work done by their twos be boyght totally undone, no need for the way he carried on and it just reinforced to tha many people who were there that this club has some serious cultural issues to deal with.

Did anyone see the U/18 game in the final term, what a disgraceful performance by the Melton team, my old man is friends with a parent of one of the players and said their may be more to come out of the game from the weekend. BFL are looking into it.

Coaching moves, Murrihy, Fisher, Northey, Finlay are all set for 2007, Sebastopol looking for a coach to replace Lewis, any one want to earn a lazy $35k, B/Marsh, Melton, Darley & Sunbury Jobs all up for grabs, did hear that Saunders from Nth Ballarat (VFL) is a chance at one of those clubs. Spider Moloney could be back at Lakerland (what a coup) i know the boys were talking about it on Saturday, a couple of others in the pipe line as well.

Heard that the Jordans are staying at East Point, strong rumour they are and bringing another top line player from St Bernards with them as he attends uni in ballarat and is good mates with Dan Jordan,

Did hear on the weekend that grounds in ballarat will be buggered because of no water, i would say that for the first part of next year all games may be down the highway for the first few weeks, no turf wickets for cricket in ballarat as water is scarce.

So thats all from the weekend up at the BFL Grand final, a lot on interesting stuff talked about over a few cold ones, bring on Spring Racing Carnival and Go Swans for back to back AFL Premierships.

Tim Beacham has gone to Darwin to further his career as Football Operations Manager in a Major League with new challenges. After 5 years you can get stail and need to move on.
Rumor has it that he is scared of crocodiles and is wanting us Victorians to start buying croc boots and eating croc burgers to cull the numbers. Also states that damper is better then Bread!
Kirsty the girl in the office is only a trainee, and is nowhere near experienced enough to take that roll on, thats why Tim came back from Darwin for the BFL finals. Have heard some names floating around regarding the position and some very good footballers, so u might see him at Darley next year!!!!!

No the person doesnt have to be a player, but im sure Wardy along with the board would love to select a person with great credentials and the ability to play footy. Im sure that person would get shipped straight of to Darley with a little push from Wardy.
Tim Beacham did play for both clubs, and there were some small minded people especially from Ballarat F>C who sooked and thought he was being biased, other wise he had a great working relationship with all clubs.
Plenty of interest as its a great position and will be interesting to see who is appointed.

Yeah your right mate the coach got stuck into the "beak"...heard it with my own two ears and i must say wat an absolute low life the coach must be to carry on the way he did. i wanted to get up there and just let him no how bloody stupid he looked standing up there after a win and speaking the way he did. children in the crowd shouldnt have to listen to someone speak that way. shows how undiscilined a club ran by thugs must really be. well done on the win but be admirable about it and then you might get that 'respect' you asked for.
