Im suprised you havent found out who i am yet, considering your embarassing false accusations on sunday.
And on Sunday I apologised for my false accusations, I didn't make any.
Just wondering how Burleigh are looking this year? Bloke playing with us in Victoria this year played with them last couple of seasons, and was just wondering if they're any chance for three in a row?
Assuming you are talking about Andy Knee. How is he going down there? Was a key player for Burleigh over the past couple of years and in my mind losing him is a big reason why they are not quite the force they were.
And on Sunday I apologised for my false accusations, I didn't make any.
I ran a training session yesterday on conflict resolution and I think it is time that I try and bring morphous and DH closer together. Let's not focus on who said what when. Let's just try and understand where the other person is coming from. DH, I'm sure morph regrets any hurt that he has caused. Morph, I'm sure DH understands that when he criticises you it sends you into a shame spiral. And I'm sure that with the both of you talking about your issues helps you feel validated.
I am available for counselling at any time if you both think that would be beneficial. We need to ask ourselves - Where is the love?

But why would I feel shamed for supporting a club?

Never any shame in supporting a club morph. I think we have all been around long enough to know that a club that is going through hard times today can be dominating the comp in the future - and vice-versa.
And as for the embracing I'm sure doug would wear his brightest coloured footwear and even splash on a bit of Brut 33 to help break the ice.

Brut 33, now thats a very very low below the belt shot on doug, thats even too low for the current form of Daniel Kerr

Yeh that's right. He was dominating early. Best on ground the first four rounds then got struck down by osteitis pubis and hasn't played since. Hoping he makes it back for finals! How did Burleigh go against Noosa last week? I cant get on the AFLQ website for some reason.

We wore that jumper last year. In 98/99 Springwood were the only side to beat us, how times change.
great game it was too. springwood coached by neville shaw at the time.
mullet from redlands was extremely keen to have a few bucks on the game, it was a great feeling to see him come into our rooms after the game and hand over the cash after we won the game.
especially as we werent even rated any chance to win...

Can anyone from Zilmore let me know how Rick Scott was going before his return to Melbourne?
Not sure if we are still doing our tips, but I like nothing more than giving my opinion so here we go.
Noosa v Grange - Match of the round
Grange have had a couple of very big weeks, and it doesn't get any easier here. It would be a long while since they have beaten Noosa away, and with a few injuries I think are unlikely to alter that. The Tigers by 21.
Springwood v Burleigh
Maybe a surprise not to have this one as the match of the round, but I have said this only because I think the Pumas will just be too good. Springwood by 39
Sandgate v Maroochy
Would love to see Sandgate win, but I think they are starting to struggle. Maroochy by 42
Coolangatta v PBC
A few people might be confused which way theey are kicking and who their team mates are given the off season movements. Cooly too good by 27
Surfers v Magpies
Magpies just ahve too many guns and will win by 64.
Mayne v Aspley
Not exactly the clash of the titans here. Can't see Aspley getting up. Mayne by 30
If he is who i think he is and the team lists on aflq.com.au are correct DH has got his senior spot back!!

Maybe you should start a thread about the U/14 QLD comp, something a bit more relevant to your levels of grammar.

Careful what you say because the div 2/Pineapple Cup league has a lot of support from posters here as compared to div 1/Balfours cup. Also it does have a lot of good players in it who at the very least could challange for a position in a div 1 side and have/supply a lot of the up and comers via u18's.

I personally find the AFLQ Div 2 more interesting than Div 1 - lots of good players, lots of good workers, volunteers, and supporters, lots of good clubs. But then again, being biased, I find the State Association more interesting still because my club is involved. Carn the Devils!
Its all just perspective. However, I figure that this thread is big enough to handle comments and thoughts about all levels of football in SE Qld. So many people keep seeming to forget that ultimately, we're all in it together.
So here are my tips for the celebrated AFLQ Div 2 Pineapple Hotel Cup for this week's round:
* I saw Sherwood run over the top of Sandgate last week. Fairly impressive stuff - although it has been mentioned that Sandgate are struggling with a stack of injuries. The waves are flat for Surfers this week - Sherwood to win.
* Springwood will bounce back with an emphatic win over Burleigh.
* Noosa and Grange - I'm going for the Tigers by two points.
* Coolangatta will tame PBC.
* Maroochydore will clip the wings of Sandgate.
* And Clash of the Titans indeed! What's happened to Mayne? They surprised me early with really good results, but that's dried up recently. Have players left? Are there injuries? Probably won't matter too much this week as it looks like Aspley might have their first ever winless season, going right back to '74.
My theory is that there will be no promotions next year, but two teams will be relegated to make Div 2 a more manageable ten team comp. Given that, Aspley will be heading to the Association - but which club will join them?

My knowledge on this comp may be rusty but i'll give it a go-
Western Magpies by 132 points (take top spot?)
Springwood by 39 points (both sides depleted)
Noosa by 81 points (at home, Grange pretenders)
Palm Beach by 1 point (look for 8 reports)
Maroochy/Northshore by 10 points (toss of the coin)
Mayne by 14 points (who cares really)
Good luck to all playing this week!

The initial deal with splitting the AFLQ into div 1 & 2 was that there would be no movement between divisions for three years.

Gosh, seems like no-one cares this week. Well, here we go anyway:
Grange
Maroochydore
Surfers
Springwood
Noosa
Sherwood
39.5 points on every game!
Wait, there must be more:
University
Wynnum
Caboolture
And I have to think that Kenmore will defeat Calamvale - sorry Wade!
No-one else tipping this week?
yeah it seemed to die 2 weeks ago but i will say magpies 2's to get back on winning terms against burleigh!
Ex Burleigh Bomber Andy Knee plays first game in 11 weeks for Lower Plenty Bears, kicked 6 goals and nearly pulls down mark of the year. Gun player and great bloke.
Gee we have been a bit quiet. Is everyone just keeping things close to their chest as the finals draw near or have we just lost interest? Let's get it back on track.
With two games to go I would like to hear predictions from everyone. It appears that the top 4 is set, but with the order of the top 3 still to be confirmed. Any of the top 3 could end up as minor premier. Noosa should win this week but might struggle to beat Grange in the final round. WM v the Pumas should decide the issue.
I am leaning towards the Magpies at the moment. This is based purely on who is going to be missing from the other contenders. Can anyone confirm that Easdown from Springwood and Sawers from Noosa are both out for the year? They would both be massive losses if that is the case, and would open things right up for the Magpies. Outside the top 4 none of the teams look likely to cause any trouble. Grange are obviously a rung below the top 3, but have shown that they can match and beat the best.
Look forward to hearing some other opinions.

Absolutly i am very much looking forward to the game. Our side is very much changed from last time we met as too i imagine is yours so it certainly presents a chance to see how both sides are going just before finals. We get a few players back from suspension (in both grades) from the PBC game, a game which represented more of a WWF match than footy!!

I wont be captain i wouldnt think so dont have to worry about it!!
Some big games this weekend in the PHC. Springwood v Magpies should be another cracker. Coolangatta v Burleigh probably a preview to an elimination final in 2 weeks, but should decide who gets the home ground. Sandgate with a chance to grab the last spot in the finals. Noosa should beat Maroochy and move into second spot. Could be a bit of aggro in that game. Grange are sitting in 4th spot and would seem to have the double chance, but have lost 3 in a row to Mayne and have Noosa to follow.
So where is everyone? An exciting round and the silence is deafening. Are the Pumas still brimming with confidence? Can the Magpies pinch top spot? Is there anyone outside the top 3 who can cause an upset at finals time?

?????????????
Come on fellas. I know that we are coming up to finals and want to keep the cards close to the chest. But I have been hanging out to have a laugh at the guy who put up the "Balfour's Cup Only" thread and got no response. How can I get stuck into him if our thread is so quiet?
Lenny what happened to your boys on Saturday? I didn't see Doug Hondo's name in the goalkickers. I don't think I saw your name in the goalkickers either. Did the magpies have a few back from the first time you played them? Couldn't you convince them to go for another head count?
As for the 1s, how the hell did the magpies lose that one? 38 shots to 25. Can anyone give us a summary of the game?
Another big game for the Pumas this week. Have the Pumas ever beaten Burleigh at Burleigh? If Burleigh win and Noosa win then Noosa would finish top and play Grange at home while the Pumas would play the Magpies in what you would expect to be another cracker of a game. But it would be a long time since Noosa have beaten Grange at Grange, and Springwood are still the benchmark, so the more likely scenario is Springwood v Grange at Springwood and Noosa v Magpies at Noosa.
Grange are the only side to have beaten the Pumas this year and would at least give themselves a good chance of doing it again. In my very humble opinion Noosa and the Magpies are curently the in form sides, but Noosa would probably have to get the nod at home. Been a while since we've had a finals series as open as this - can't split the top 3, Grange and Burleigh genuine knock out chances.

Don't worry not going to make that mistake again!! I got fined for that by the league (as the coaches made the mistake sending me the message, they paid it).
As for the finals race in the 1's things are certainly interesting as home games are dependant on results this week. As Augie said it certainly looks to be a 3 horse race with the one who can step up a level in finals most likely to just get over the line, but who would write off the winner of the last two years.

Not a bad effort from all. Looks like Coolie and PBC were overrated and Noosa flew under the radar.
Finals for next weekend:
Noosa v Grange at Noosa
Springwood v Magpies at Springwood
Maroochy v Coolie at Maroochy
Burleigh v Surfers at Burleigh
And for the numerous reserves followers:
Springwood v Surfers at Springwood
Magpies v Noosa at Chelmer
Coolie v Maroochy at Maroochy
Burleigh v Grange at Burleigh
DH or Lenny - any comment on the rumours that the Pumas rested quite a few as they didn't care whether they finished 1st or 2nd? Still a good effort to get so close to Burleigh at their ground if a fair few were missing. Do you think Burleigh are genuine contenders?
I saw Noosa demolish Grange at the weekend and they look very good. They were missing a few of their best 22 but were completely dominant. You'd be very optimistic to suggest that Grange could turn that around within a week, particularly playing up there. With 2 home finals all but sewn up it really looks like Noosa will make the GF.
I might have to drag myself down to Lowe Oval for what should be another cracker between the Magpies and Pumas.
Got to love finals time.

Hope you've got your gumboots ready Toddy! You have to love Noosa's ground. Excellent drainage, excellent facilities, quality crowd. With the rain expected this week it would be a shock if the ground was anything but a bog. Maybe the League will keep an eye on it and move the game if it gets too wet. so really noosa will win this week and they will get a home prelim, right? and if that were the case would it most likely be the loser out of sherwood v springwood to play up there in the prelim?

That would be the most likely scenario - provided, as you would expect, that the loser of Sherwood v Springwood beats the winner of Maroochy v Cooly.
On the other side, the loser of Noosa v Grange (Grange would play the winner of Burleigh v Surfers (you would think Burleigh). Might just be that Burleigh play either Springwood or the Magpies for a spot in the GF and a shot at 3 straight. That would be a huge effort.
In my humble opinion the GF is most likely to be a battle between Noosa and the Magpies. Of course a lot depends on injuries at this time of year and Springwood, even without Easdown, will be very hard to beat if they get a few back.

Yes we attend.
We do our best. We both go to a seperate game featuring a Gold Coast side.
For example, last weekend he was at Southport-Zillmere and I was at M'side-Broadbeach at the Esplen Oval.
Not just div 1, though. Some weekends I will go to a Sharks/Broady game and he will be at say Bureigh/Springwood in Div 2 or vice versa. For the other games that neither of us can get to we would ring the coaches and do our best.

At least you are not so one eyed like Peter Bleucher (dunno how to spell his name) who does the reviews and previews for the aflq site and I don't think has gone to one aflq game.

Can anyone give me a quick run down of the Qualifying Final between Noosa and Grange?
I see Noosa gave Grange a bit of a touch up last week but could the tables be turned this weekend?

Could but won't in my opinion, good luck to them anyway.
Oh sorry, it is the AFLQ we are talking about.
Especially bemusing if they don't move it given how well the Springwood ground has held up to the rain. You'd almost think that if the rain holds off it may even be played under dry conditions!!
Whereas Noosa will be a bog. That's the luck of the draw, I suppose.
Well our ground is good and considering we finished 2nd!! Oh well you must play the hand your dealt.

What are peoples thoughts on the make up for the grand finals in Div 1 and Div 2?
Will Mside be good enough to get through, despite the punch friendly team mates?
Can S'Wood get over Noosa up there?
Do Surfers have any chance?
Also in state assoc is Yeronga and Wynnum in? where and when do they play?
thanks

A few weeks before the finals began, I thought Broadbeach were looking really good to go all the way. I got that completely wrong though.
I'm thinking Southport will roll Morningside this week, to set up a rematch with Zillmere. I would hate to underestimate Southport in any grand final, but I think Zillmere can take it this year.
In Div 2, I'm expecting Noosa and Sherwood to get through this week's games. On ability alone, I would reckon Sherwood would win the flag - although Noosa will be the physically stronger side. But unlike last year, I think Sherwood can stand up to being roughed up a little and come out winners.
And Association Div 1 - well, its obvious who I am going for! Its at Cansdale Street, Yeronga, this Saturday, 16 September. Its Yeronga V Wynnum. Anyone who reads this and wants to come along to support the Devils, we would love to see you there! Yeronga will probably start as the underdogs, but let's see if we can claim some success this time.
Good luck to Yeronga, some big finals games this week to make for a great GF weekend next week for those lucky to make it through.

I was at S'port-Zillmere on Saturday and Moaningside-Broady on Sunday.
First and foremost, very disappointing from Broady. Out in straight sets.
Very uncharacteristic performance for the Sharks. No idea what happened there. Zillmere just wanted it more and blew them out of the water early.
Zillmere have a well earned week off now and will be primed for the granny. I think Southport will roll Moaningside this week. But credit where credit is due, they are finals specialists and battle hardened. A very proud club, and I knew before the opening bounce that they were going to smash Broadbeach yesterday.

Noosa are going alright this year. Have a really good mix of younger blokes and older smarter footballers. Noosa V Magpies Grand Final for me.

Preliminary Final 1
Noosa v Springwood
For the most part of the season experts were predicating that it would be these two sides who would battle it out for the Pineapple Hotel Cup. Unfortunately it won’t eventuate and like on so many occasions the two best sides in the competition won’t get to do battle in the big one.
The last time theses sides met it was a stellar contest, a battle of the highest degree. Conditions weren’t ideal and similar conditions are expected at Noosa’s “Flea Pit” this weekend. It could come down to crowd support though one must remember back to the Round 9 contest where Noosa held a handsome lead only to be overrun by the Puma train.
For the home side Hicks and Duke will have to be at their goal kicking best, whilst Matthews and the ageless Langen will be looking to dominate the engine room.
For the visitors Sullivan and veteran Lynn will have to be at the best to provide Moncur and Wallin with goal scoring opportunities.
Both sides are missing only a few of their best 22 which leaves both camps with a no excuses status. Expect a huge Sunshine Coast dominate crowd to ride every bump, brawl and men in orange decision.
For the winner, its one step closer to the ultimate prize. For the looser, its heart break at what could have been. Expect a tight battle early, with the floodgates to open late.

Preliminary Final 2
Western Magpies v Surfers Paradise
Where has Wilston Grange gone? Swallowed up by a passionate and committed Surfers Paradise, who are still hungry for another big name scalp. And according to the Western Magpies there is no bigger name than themselves!
The Western Magpies have pushed the professionalism case throughout season 2006- they train 3 times a week, they have the best coach in the competition and are perhaps weary of last seasons finals campaign. Facing an opposition written off by all, they were smashed by Palm Beach Currumbin to fall short of a Grand Final appearance only a year after being demoted from the States elite competition.
This weekend they face a similar task. Entering a game against a side who could only manage 5 and half wins for the season.
The John Millane led Demons have been outstanding in September and don’t want the fairytale to end this weekend. It will take a committed 22 men to do the job but they have nothing to loose and will go in full of confidence.
For the Magpies it will be a matter of controlling the ego. They had their tickets to the GABBA booked early last season. Let’s hope they haven’t done likewise with Carrara this time round.
SURFERS PARADISE by 14 points
I just can't see Surfers getting over the top of the Magpies. They have done exceptionally well to win two finals after a pretty ordinary season, but the Magpies are a vastly different proposition to Grange and Burleigh. Surfers rely on generating plenty of run from half back, getting numbers into space. I think the Magpies have the pace to negate this, and with a strong forward line will just kick too big a score for Surfers.
Magpies by 45 points
In the other game I have made no secret of the fact that I think Noosa are the team this year. The Pumas were the benchmark all season, but they really have dropped off a touch in the last 6 weeks. Maybe they are getting some key players back to full fitness after injuries????
The two forward lines are very potent and I think this could be a high scoring affair. For mine the Noosa midfield just packs too many guns - Langan, Matthews, Isles, Purcell and Sawers (is he back?) are a pretty formidable unit.
Noosa by 18 points.
I'll have a crack at the 2s as well.
Springwood, although playing away, will be simply too good for Noosa - at least 50 points.
Magpies v Surfers will be a cracker - Surfers playing good footy at the right time while the Magpies have been very classy all year.
I'll go with an upset and say Surfers by 8 points.

Noosa V Magpies
Should be a cracker.
The Tigers were very good against springwood on Saturday and have Sawyers to come back after playing in the twos on Saturday. Also must look at Johnson, State U/18 player, Cross to get back in?
Did Todd Dunn, play for the Maggies on Saturday? Heard he may have an hamstring injury. Ex Noosa player Dunn will want to be there next week!
Can't believe That the Noosa Seconds got up but the above players in the seconds they to could cause an upset as well.
Both should be classics, but why are they on different days? Can't believe that the league would split up the competitions, disgracful!

Dont you know already AFLQ doesnt use common sense when organizing games! Add to that the 2's GF is the only game at coorparoo on saturday.

In Inside Football this week, there is an advertisement for Coolangatta looking for players.
Can anyone give me any background on this club and if state league division two is a good standard of football?
The ad is very tempting, would love to gup up to Queensland and be involved with a club up there but lack of coin is protruding me from doing this.

Hi Sportsman,
Cooly play in the Division 2 of the state league up here.
They are a pretty good club, I know the players have a great time, good place to live.
The level is competitive, depending on where you come from but I think the top teams are all good. Drops of towards the bottom. Not sure how much they pay there but I'm sure if you are any good they would try to look after you.
DH is ****ty cause his gun team, springwood, just got knocked out of the finals after dominating all year.

I'm actually more interested in off field roles as a statistician/football analyst and although it wasn't advertised would the club be interested in hearing from me?
What Division One clubs, would they be interested?

For positions like those I'm not sure of many clubs where it would be a paid position, maybe only at Southport and Lions.

Sharks win!!!
Southport defeated Zillmere by about 7 points IIRC.
Kurt Tippett Best on ground IMO playing mostly ruck. Kiel and Watts were also very good.
For the Eagles, Zantuck caused a lot of headaches in the 2nd term. Didn't think Dzufer was particularly good for those draftee followers.

Dzufer played deep in defence. The pressure around him was immense, but he didn't seem to make good dicisions and he wasn't coping well with the stiff breeze. Had an important duel with young Haydn Kiel in the 2nd half which I'd say he lost.
His team mates must rate his skills pretty highly though, as he was taking just about every kickout.
