Most of you couldn't care less, but there are a select group of British comedy fans who would have chuckled at Henry's brilliant straight-man work to Benny Hill for 20-odd years.

He died a couple of days back at the age of 77.

If the name doesn't ring a bell, the face will...

Ah, what a classic face he had. Geez, I loved the Benny Hill Show.

Did he co-star in a couple of Goodies episodes, and some Dave Allen skits from time to time as well?

First thing I recalled when I read he'd died was of him doing the interviews with Fred Skuttle on The Benny Hill Show. :)

RIP

Yes, he seemed to be highly regarded as a straight man for a number of comedians. I recall him working with Frankie Howerd aswell. From what I've read, in the comedy business funny men are a dime a dozen, however good straight-men are absolute gold and are treated as such.

Henry was superb. As Rusty Brooks said he had a classic face. Sort of clueless and little pompous, he was the ideal, hapless twit.

During the Fred Scuttle interviews and in other skits you could just sometimes see Henry's lips purse and quiver as he was about to break up laughing, but he always kept it together as much as Benny tried to throw him off.

Brilliant work.

Very true. Look at all the work Angus Deayton gets.
