Got the inside word from a Uni Blues player that a member of Old Xavs premiership side has been training with Uni Blues. Don't know who it is. Perhaps some of the more informed people on this board can fill us in.

Why don't you be a man and just tell us.

Probably Lethlean. He is good mates with Tom Wilcox and has apparently been close to going their in recent years. Doesn't really have youth on his side but the Blues might get one or two more years out of him.

They can have Lethlean. Probably going there because Xavs only have footy shorts up to size 38 and Uni have the size 44's he needs!
Not sure why he'd leave.......he apparently has a good relationship with the coach and based upon the way their side looks for this year he's a good chance to add to his 5 or 6 medals!
Come on BlueBoy who is it?

Surely there would be an old pair of Gil Mclachlan's shorts lying around the place!

It wouldn't surprise me if it's Simon due to the following:
1. he's originally from Camberwell Grammar, hence no school tie connection as such.
2. he spent a season or two on Hawthorn's list when Richard Taylor was still there, and Tayls is a confirmed starter with Uni.
3. Link with Kanis (great mates with Schwabby), may be similar to Taylor's (ex-Hawthorn)
4. Simon is a solicitor with the AFL (albeit working with 6 times premiership Xavver Andrew Dillon) and ex-Uni Blue ruckman Gil McLachlan is head of commercial operations with the AFL.
Not aware of the Wilcox link, but that'd strengthen things greatly.
All good reasons for Jars to drift to Uni for the last couple of years of a stellar ammo career. Having said that, I have absolutely no idea if it is him, but it wouldn't surprise me.

You blokes have got to be kidding - as if Lethlean would leave Xavs and plus there is no way Gil's shorts would fit! I think you are full of it BlueBoy

I think that this is a bit of a beat up. Mates from Uni tell me that the only Xavs they have are a couple of school boys who have played there since U19. ie John Meagher, Chris Brookes, Tim Ihle, Callerys, etc. No surprises here. As for Lethlean, would Blues really want/need him? They generally aren't big on trying to get older players from the VAFA or AFL..

Hey Scribe, are you tipping fuel on this rumour because you're still dirty he stole your gig at the AFL?

Absolutely!!! That Lethlean man is a menace, and he has really bad hair too. Forget the fact he's a far sharper commercial lawyer than I could ever be, it's a conspiracy I tell ya!! :D
NB - I did say I had absolutely no idea if it was true, but I may've added some fuel simply by drawing a few logical inferences......see I'm learning already Your Honour...just in time for the Bar Reader's Course.

Very quick editing Scribe... you were about to get a massive spray from TBP.

I could sense TBP lurking, like one of Alphonse's henchmen, so I pulled my head in.
Lucky!!;)

At the last training before Xmas JK told the boys that Lethlean would most probably be becoming to Uni Blues this year, but he wanted to tell them to squash the rumours that had been going around and asked them to keep it quiet. As far as I am aware he is yet to train for them.

You can tell JK that unless Lethlean is a psychologist, he won't do them much good this year............and great work keeping it quiet!

Gil Mclachlan dresses like he is off to the Mardis Gras. Soft as butter as a player and a terrible bloke to match.
