TRAINING - FRIDAY FEBRUARY 3RD
Training today started at 11am at Victoria Park, A few players started with Stretches, Sprints and Kick to Kick while a few did a lap, Kane Johnson stoped half way to hang a leak . After this they all got into a group and did a Full Ground Sprint before some Stretches.
They started with 4 Groups in a shape like this X a group at each point they would start with a V, like group at bottom left would run to middle then run to top left, after that the group would run from the top left to bottom right, this would be ongoing, Lots of players slapping each other and mucking around.
Then everyone got in a line and 6 at a time would start a sprint with about 5 skips before going flat out another 10 to 15metres, they did this a few times over before pairing up and doing the stretch were they swing there leg side to side.
Then they got into a line again and did short 5metres sprints, starting like a sprinter would with hand on ground at start, then they did it Zig Zag for 10metres.
Everyone then got into a group and Terry had a talk with them, They then got in 6 small groups, player with ball rolls along the ground with the recieving players picking up and handballing to a player running past who would roll to the next player, they did this over and over, they then moved back and did the same thing, All up they did it for about 5mins. At the same time as this Kelvin Moore and Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls did 2 laps seprate to the group, and Ray Hall was on the side having Kick to Kick with David King.
Then everyone went into a group again to talk to David King, then they spread out into 3 groups in a Triangle shape, 1 Group in the goal square, other two on one side of the 50metre ark each, in this group 2 players from the goal square group would lead to one of the other groups each and they did Leading target kicking, I thought after this drill that they really need to improve on this part of there game, too many kicks either over the leading players head or too far to his side, Although Brent Hartigan, Dean Polo and Nathan Brown where very good at there passing, They did this for about 15mins.
Again they went in and talked in a group, then they moved out into to Groups on either side of the ground, the groups where Yellow tops and Black tops, A few put on Red tops. This time the Victoria Park train station side of the ground it was passing to leading forward from a mark, on the other side it was passing to leading players on the run. I was on the Victoria Park Train Station side of the ground so i was mainly watching the kick from a mark, in this drill there was 5 players playing out of the goal square, 3 offencive players and 2 defenders, the offence would have to try and outsmart the defence by leading in different directions to try and get the spair player free, I thought passing in this drill was 10 times better than in the other leading drill and Brett Deledio was very good at leading in this, the Offencive team won this drill 16 out of 18 times, this drill went for 15mins
After this they swaped sides of the ground, Blacks in there drill on my side used 3 on 3, Again there disposal was quite good, They did this for 10mins.
Again everyone got in a group and talked, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls and Kelvin Moore left without doing any drills with the main group.
Now everyone split into 3 groups, 1 at Centre Half Back, 1 on the Right Wing and other in the goal square on my side of the ground. in the goal square group there was 6 on 6, 2 players from the wing group would run into the half forward line, 1 was Offencive and 1 Defencive, The ball would start at Half Back and run through the middle, the player with the ball would pass to a leading player running up the ground from the goal square and he would take and look for a Leading option, Forwards and Defenders in this drill were pretty much even, They did this for 20mins and again Disposal wasnt the strong point but wasnt to bad.
Again players got into a group, a few player went to the side of the ground and had Kick to Kick these players where Brett Deledio, Nathan Brown, Mark Chaffey, Ray Hall and Chris Newman. The other players had a game, it was 16 on 16 and the Teams where

this group a player would run to the cones that a trainer would yell out and there was a defender in this drill, they would also have to Wrestle if that was called or Push Up or drop to ground, once he yelled lead the players would run towards David King who would kick it to them.
After that training finished at about 1:10pm, a few players had set shots after training while some practiced leads, David King had 1 shot for goal from about 40metres out on the boundry and torped it strait through the middle .
