Yaabbleet u got me had no spys just trying to liven up this site. U read the CMFL some real feeling there. Blokes getting wacked, ****ed, loved the lot.
A real bit of feeling too at Irymple today. I must say, I've never seen a side so intent on dishing out cheapshots behind the play in all my life. It was astounding to see them not fielding a backline at all today but instead a troop of snipers. My commendations to Hocko who played well, especially with a target set on the back of his head. The umpires didn't even look like giving him a free but that was because he was wearing a demon jumper!
Just after 3/4 time the free kick count was 25 to 7 in Irymple's favour and a few f ucking shockers in the last quarter slaughtered us at clutch moments in the match. Chris Russell and Ash Connick's marks not being paid was disgraceful. I've never seen such a blatant attempt to ruin a good game of footy in my life either ...
Geez, I've seen a few things for the first time today, I now realise. Here's another, and this would have to be something I never thought I'd see in my entire life ...
Picture this, it's half time. Players are in the sheds, getting their breaths back, discussing tactics, whatever. Supporters are at the bar or on the hill or grabbing a bite to eat at the kiosk. The blare of a truck horn from Karadoc Avenue is heard but not too many people notice. Another blare, only this time closer, it seems the truck is heading past Henshilwood Oval. As it comes into view, it seems to be just a regular truck with a flat tray on the back. Another horn blare and it is all revealed ... Sitting square on the back of the truck's tray is a spanking new Bobcat ... As this truck made a second pass, the players were all gathered in their positions, ready to go for the second half. I dare say most players saw it. I know one had to have seen it ...
So the umpires or the flat top truck driver lost it for Mildura, build a bridge

I think it's more like one of their players has a liking to new bobcats, would have been more a distraction for them than the opposition:cool:

Santoz have a tear, the umpiring is always the same. It was good and bad at different times for both teams. The only blame can be put on you guys for self destructing. Had them on toast and couldnt ice it with a couple of easy shots in the last. You also cant say it was just irymple sniping or are you that one eyed you cant see reality. Just hope you guys make it to september as at least you know how to put up a fight unlike earlier on in the year.

Pull your head in f u c k wit did you even see the game. Easily the worst umpiring performance I have ever seen. Yes the Dees should have won but the three extra players Irymple had in orange certainly helped their cause.
Your just a s h i t stirrer!
Settle down you dolt, you can't blame umpires for losing, as you just said twit, you should have won the game, build a bridge and get over it

Was it just the last quarter that they were bad or was it the whole game? If it was the latter then perhaps you should learn to adjust to the decisions, both side have to do that not just one side
I have been reading this forum with both bemusement and amusement and the comments by Skeeterman to Nakriel seem very crass and unnecessary, although Nakriel does seem to be moving the big spoon around, however Skeeterman, if I may use a bit of poetic licence "Five things are to be assessed before the battle (game) The way, the weather, the ground, the leadership and discipline, these are to be assessed prior. First assess yourself and your opponent in terms of these five things, deciding who is superior. Then you can determine who is likely to prevail.
Perhaps some of the Dees may have been thinking of the previous encounter with the Swallows (love that Name, conjures up all types of thoughts) where a couple of them were derailed by the D train, perhaps leaving scary memories
Thats all we need another intellectual, and I dont need your help Sun Tzu

Santoz, did you race home straight after the game to post this dribble? Get a life moron.
Aren't you the bloke who left Irymple because you couldn't get a game in the 1's, went to Demon's and still played a season of ressies?! That might be telling you something. You're obviously a very bitter man.
On the game: a great contest to watch, Mildura really had a crack - well done. Irymple played some good footy in the last quarter and a half. Lacked a bit tactically with the absence of Oscar the Grouch Anderson and the bald muppet.
The umpires did their jobs and made some mistakes (for both teams throughout the game), but lets face it - in the end the best team won.
Who was the ex Irymple player in the ones for Mildura on Saturday? Other than Hosking

The Art of War. Sun Tzu. A very good read indeed and can be utilized, not just in the art of war, but in the world of business and to a limited degree, the world of sport. Know the enemy as you know yourself and victory is assured.
Some information for those out there on the importance of this weekends game between South Mildura and Merbein. If South wins they will be equal on points with Mildura and Wentworth, one game clear of Imperials. If South wins by 62 points, it moves into fourth position above Wenworth by one percent. If South wins by 82 points or more, it moves into 3rd position, 1 percent above Mildura with Wenty dropping to 5th. The last 5 Rounds will be very interesting for all four sides battling for 3rd and 4th on the ladder.
So who does each of these sides play and what are their chances.
South Mildura
Mildura, Red Cliffs, Irymple, Robinvale, Imps
Mildura
South Mildura, Imperials, Wentworth, Merbein, Robinvale
Wentworth
Robinvale, Merbein, Mildura, Red Cliffs, Irymple
Imperials
Merbein, Mildura, Red Cliffs, Irymple, South Mildura
In my opinion, Wentworth have the easier run home with Merbein and Red Cliffs, but will have it difficult with Robinvale, Mildura and Irymple. A possible of 2 out of 5.
Imperials have Merbein and Red Cliffs but again have three hard ones and a possibility of just 2 out of 5. Already one game behind, they will struggle to make the finals unless they can get at least two other wins against the other three sides. Even that might not be enough.
Mildura have a difficult run but could sneak in if they can win 3 out of thier 5 games.
South have the hardest run of all but with the form reversal of the last two weeks can definatley make it with 3 wins from 5. That means that they must beat Red Cliffs, Mildura and Imperials who are all fighting for the same position. The game against Imperials could be the big decider.
3 wins for any of the sides above will get them into finals except Imperials. They need to win all four games or they will be relying on percentage. With 2 wins and relying on other teams losing etc, you can make finals on percentage. Interesting end to the year. Great for the League to be so close with only 5 rounds remaining after this coming weekend.

Sun Tzu was a chinese military strategist.
Perhaps his approach below could be used in defenders that won't man up.
Sun Tzu Wu (=Sun Tzu) was a native of the Ch`i State. His ART OF WAR brought him to the notice of Ho Lu, [2] King of Wu. Ho Lu said to him: "I have carefully perused your 13 chapters. May I submit your theory of managing soldiers to a slight test?" Sun Tzu replied: "You may." Ho Lu asked: "May the test be applied to women?" The answer was again in the affirmative, so arrangements were made to bring 180 ladies out of the Palace.
Sun Tzu divided them into two companies, and placed one of the King's favorite concubines at the head of each. He then bade them all take spears in their hands, and addressed them thus: "I presume you know the difference between front and back, right h and and left hand?" The girls replied: Yes.
Sun Tzu went on: "When I say "Eyes front," you must look straight ahead. When I say "Left turn," you must face towards your left hand. When I say "Right turn," you must face towards your right hand. When I say "About turn," you must face right roun d towards your back." Again the girls assented. The words of command having been thus explained, he set up the halberds and battle-axes in order to begin the drill. Then, to the sound of drums, he gave the order "Right turn." But the girls only burst out laughing. Sun Tzu said: "If words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, then the general is to blame."
So he started drilling them again, and this time gave the order "Left turn," whereupon the girls once more burst into fits of laughter. Sun Tzu: "If words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, the general is to blame. But if his orders ARE clear, and the soldiers nevertheless disobey, then it is the fault of their officers."
So saying, he ordered the leaders of the two companies to be beheaded. Now the king of Wu was watching the scene from the top of a raised pavilion; and when he saw that his favorite concubines were about to be executed, he was greatly alarmed and hurried ly sent down the following message: "We are now quite satisfied as to our general's ability to handle troops. If we are bereft of these two concubines, our meat and drink will lose their savor. It is our wish that they shall not be beheaded." Sun Tzu replied: "Having once received His Majesty's commission to be the general of his forces, there are certain commands of His Majesty which, acting in that capacity, I am unable to accept." Accordingly, he had the two leaders beheaded, and straig htway installed the pair next in order as leaders in their place. When this had been done, the drum was sounded for the drill once more; and the girls went through all the evolution, turning to the right or to the left, marching ahead or wheeling back, k neeling or standing, with perfect accuracy and precision, not venturing to utter a sound.
Fairly intellectual stuff for this time of day.

Anyway enough of this conversation and to this weeks round, who will win and Ibis I should not have to remind you as Du MU stated " Keeping your own military in order, always be prepared for opposition, erase your tracks and hide your form, making yourself inscrtable to opponents. When you see that an opponent can be taken advantage of, then you emerge to attack"
Therefore skillful warriors are able to be invincible, but they cannot cause opponents to be vunerable.

I think this is appropriate for all those sides fighting for a place in the finals.
"To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself"
It is a liitle known fact that Sun Tzu was also coach of the Peking Ducks a top side in the Central Manchurian League during the third Ming dynasty.
Obviously many of his theories on "The Art of War" could be transposed to his short but very successful coaching career.

Last time they met the scores for the respective sides were
Sth Mildura15.21
Merbein 6.10
Red Cliffs 12.12
Robinvale 13.13.
I would expect South to win if they continue their form of the previous two game, but shouln't take Merbein too lightly
Given Robinvales latest form I would expect them to easily account for Red Cliffs, also very hard to defeat them at home.

I know who Sun Tzu or depending on the translation Sun Zi is, I have a copy of his translated text. I was merely asking who Sun Tzu on this forum is. (Not that I expected an answer).
I will quote the great Sun Zi in reference to the South Mildura Football Club -
Once the troops realise they are in dire straits, they will automatically unite into a cohesive and determined fighting force. Consequently they become the pivotal factor in deciding the outcome of the war.
Perhaps after the Robinvale loss, the boys realised they were in dire straits, and are now united and cohesive and a determined fighting force. They themselves will now become the pivoltal factor in deciding the outcome of making finals or not.
He speaks the truth.

That they do. I don't think too many thought we would beat Imperials or Wentworth either, BUT WE DID. The next five weeks are huge for all four clubs. I wil tip South and Mildura to finish in Top 4.
Any thoughts or comments on Danial Hickey's hair on the back page of the Daily today?

The rights of free speech Danny. He wrote it straight after the game and emotions were high! Hasn't he stirred the pot though! Umps not noticable? Regardless of what they say about you, you do have a funny side. Seriously, a lot of people have said to me that it was the best game they've seen in years. The break I reckon will be good for us- We have seen the level that we can play at and can now reload and attack the last five games with renewed confidence and a full compliment of players except for Santoz. Gonz has a huge week on the track planned and last nights session certainly started it off on that track- Very solid.

You just need to ask the source Badds. No I'm not contracted next year. I signed on for one with the option of two. The club will make the decision that best suits the club for next year. Sounds like you heard South will have joint coaches as this is the second or third time you have asked if I was contracted for next year.
O'Brien was spoken to last year and remained at Southport when the coaching staff there was replaced. Had their coach of 2005 remained he would have returned home this year.
If South do opt for Joint coaches, it would be what the committee thinks is best for the club and they are the employers. If they opt to re-sign myself, then I would be more than happy to continue in the role and I imagine they will do as they did last year and consult with the senior players and leadership group when it comes time to make the decision. At the moment I have full support of the committee and the club and as long as we continue to reach the goals we set I see no reason why I wouldn't still be coaching on my own next year. The committe know I have a two year plan and that the second year was the year we expect to get the best from that plan. It takes 12 months for players to respond and understand the requirements of new coaches. Interesting fact though Badds, I was looking at the coaches board last week and noticed that the average coaching life at south for hte past 12 years is only two years service.

If we were to go through the current SFL coaches which have a less than secure future.
Merbein... possible if they decide to go on a spending spree it would most likely include a new coach probably playing. Can they stay they keep the cheque book stashed for a year or two.
Red Cliffs... hard to say if they can keep on track with the youth policy they would most likely keep Mick.. However if the locals were to get impatient and stage a coup it could mean the end of Mick.
South... well we've just heard it al from the horses mouth so to speak
Wenty... there could be dual coaching role here but again it has been denied. But then its a long time to season 2007 and lots can happen. Bells fitness could come into play.
Imperials.. a definite chance considering the likelyhood of Imps not making the finals This could cause some sort of reaction in the power base in the Green Room. Although family ties are pretty strong.
Petrie's return from overseas doesn't mean he will automatically end up at Imps. A proven forward could attract considerable offers in 2007 Would imps match them. However I don't see him as coaching material.
Mildura.. another good chance. The Dees promised a lot this season. Perhaps its up to a different type of coach and player to deliver.
Robinvale... I reckon they would be happy with the current bloke. They could get the cheque book out to get the players required (if any ) Finding and enticing a coach to Robinvale is something they might wish to avoid.
Irymple... if they win the flag Eaton will get the Mayorial robes and the job Regardless he'll get the job if he wants it in 2007. If he wants it. NB
All coaching positions are subject to the whim of incoming committees unless the clubs have contracted coaches for more than one year.
(How many do that.)
The lives lives of coaches outside of footy (job and family) can influence their decisions. So all coaches could go but it is interesting to speculate.
I wonder if Sun Tzu has a position on coaches.

as far as Redcliffs perhaps they need a leader that can show the way, with Mildura perhaps the same applies, Wentwoth perhaps needs a change, Robinvale should retain what they have, Irymple perhaps depending on what they achieve will stick with what they have, but will they be happy?, Imperials should try someone from outside, to many inner club mambers, South should retain the services of Spivey because he doesnt just talk the talk he walks the walk

from what i have heard from the inner sanctum at imperials they are starting to get extremely restless and are starting at looking at things for next year and one of those could be the appiontment of someone new to the club that has no family connection someone of the standard of shane garner a few years ago.
as for irymple eaton will stay on as long as he wants and as long as the commitee are happy with him.
red cliffs will get rid of mick. he has had two years there now and the locals dont like being down for that long so dont be surprised if the check book comes out and a few players arrive there during pre season.
mildura need to develop some depth in their playing list which could be attributed to the coaching staff but not sure if they are ready to get rid of ryan yet, will prob keep him for another 12 months and then look at things.
ibis seems to be safe at south from talking to yappa all reports have been good no negatives.

Coaches thoughts
Imperials - Hard to replace a coach that took out the 2005 Premiership even if they do miss finals. Very injury depleted team and losing games by very small margins.
Mildura - O'Callaghan was leaving the district last year from what I hear but was talked into staying. Believe he is thinking of moving again at end of this year. If they miss finals I suggest Mildura will look within their current ranks for a new coach (Connick)?????
Merbein - Their current coach works for the President. Will probably get another year but they will need to recruit hard over the summer.
Red Cliffs - No results since taking over and not the most popular of coaches. I think they will be looking elsewhere next year.
Robinvale - Has turned the club around both on and off the field. If he wants to stay he will definatley stay.
Wentworth - Need to make finals for Belly to stay in charge. Had a run in with several junior players as discussed on here earlier in season and may have lost the respect of the players and committee. My tip is Alvey to take the raines. Seems to take alot of training already and with his experience and knowledge is the right man for the job.
Irymple - Eato will coach if he wants it.
South - I hope I get an extention on my contract. Please Lyle, pretty please, cherry on top.

That seems to be a flaw in Bells approach to coaching it probably led to his demise at Red Cliffs and Irymple. The uncertainty of his back back injury didn't help. I believe he wasn't that popular with some players and supporters at Irymple. Most of his supporters among the players have left the club one way or another.
I reckon he is likely to go (as far as Senior coach)
However Wenty will try to keep him around. Forwards capable of kicking a ton are not easy to find.
