Well it was great to see the very very young side of Red Cliffs get up over Mildura. I am surprised more hasn't been said about this on here. South look to be struggling to be competitive and it will only be worse against the top clubs.
Robinvale are always an unknown and it was a surprise that Wentworth who I think (And still do) will struggle throughout the year win by so much. Merbein can take heart that they will be competitive this year.
Irymple obviously are travelling alright and with a good win over Imps may have shown that IMps are finally going to struggle and with news that they are struggling to field a two's team it might spell the end of an era. (But you can never write the green and whites off).
Mildura will have been brought down to earth with the loss knowing they did field almost all thier senior players. This year could be close right from second last to top. (Sorry South, you aren't going to be anywhere near it.)
Good luck to all this weekend and lets hope us Tigers (Yep I have jumped on board as the runner so I can claim to be one now) come away with a good win over the much improved Maggies.
Lets wait for the real stuff to start before making any calls about coming down to earth...Tigers were good, but Mildura were well off their mark...we all know bout Carlton 2005 / 2007....

from what I've been told that was about Irymples best side last Saturday. However they will have a bit of depth to cover injuries and don't be surprised if at least one of the departed doesn't return.

There was no mention of Red Cliffs going close to anything. I simply said it was great to see they got over Mildura who had in a strong side compared to Red Cliffs and I thought a few comments might have been made on here about it.
I don't think anyone, let alone Mildura would have expected to lose, in contrast I think they would have expected to win well as most everyone thought they would. It may make them work harder, I simply beleive they would have been surprised by the loss even though it was a pre season game.
No one will get within 10 goals of Mildura this year and if you think Red Cliffs will go close then you better get your hand off it.
My ladder at end of year is- Mildura
Wenty
Imps
Robinvale
Irymple
Red cliffs
South
Merbein
Top 2 positions wont change and next 4 could go any way. South and Merbein might beat each other but thats about it.[/quote]

Red Cliffs must be estatic that you have jumped on board, the committee out there will love you talking them up.
It was no secret that there were diffences between me and the committee at South. I can comment about it if I choose and you will find it is only certain aspects of the committee I have commented about. I believe they do a great job at South with the business side of things and generating income etc. When they can mix that along with assisting what happens on the field they will be a very strong club and a finals contender. Until then they will struggle.
I can say that I have nothing to do with the Red Cliffs Committee, just the coach and I'm not even sure the crowd out there will accept me. :D Ha Ha.
They never did when I was a player. :D
From what I hear though, they are 100% supportive of all the coaches requests and with the unexpected win on Saturday night, it may be that they are moving in the right direction.

Hey Nakkers,
I wouldn't have Slorach as missing, he hasn't played good footy for a number of years in MY opinion.
Deckert, Cardew and Tierney fair enough. But lets look at who did play.
O'Bree
Anstey
Matthews
O'Callaghan Family
Spencer
Connick
Gascoyne
Woolford
Russell
Red Cliffs were still missing a couple of key players also so I think Red Cliffs did a pretty good job coming from where they were last year to defeating the Mildura side that contained the majority (NOT ALL) but the majority of the Premiership team from last year.
Again, I simply stated that Red Cliffs did well and I think Mildura and most others would have gotten a surprise when they lost.
I have no doubt Mildura will be the team to beat this year as they were last year, hopefully though it is a sign that the competition will be more even and competitive.

I don''t give a toss if people do or don't, it's up to the individual. We all have opinions like we all have a__holes.
In what way am I joke? I will guess it has something to do with leaving South Mid Season. Perhaps you were one of the people that sat around the table the night before I left and didn't express your opinion to my face when you had the chance.
And at least I don't hide behind a user name. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to who you are. Not that I care, but for your comments to be taken seriously perhaps put some credability behind them with your name?
I wouldn't mind about five more hacks like him
For a hack he does move quite well. Not a bad driver of a horse either, perhaps more suited to riding on the back of one instead of on a sulky. :D:D

Well Ibis u sure no how to get the conversations started. And i do agree with u Ibis Red Cliffs did impress and shock me with there win. Should give them a confidence boost for the start of the season.
Wentworth also impressed me, Badds seems to have the boys fired up for a big season. The only problem i can see for the Roos is if they cant field a reserves team each week. I reckon it will effect there depth dearly. Can some1 from Wenty confirm the numbers situation?? Im hearing Imps twos are also stuggeling with no. but i just reckon they will come good as always.
Anyway to more important matters this weeks football. The real stuff!!!
Who will be making the senior Debut's????
Who looks as though they will be having big seasons??
Tips for this weekend.
Red Cliff by 21 points over Merbein
Robinvale by 46 points over South
Wentworth by 10 points over Imperials
Irymple by 7 14 points over Mildura
There should be a big footy tipping comp for the SFL. Anyone interested then send me a private message with your tips and I will get it up and going and post results each Monday.

Not as shit as you thought you were but a good chance you will stay in the 2's after a comment like that. I tipped Wenty to win as well but like I said, you never count out those bloody green and whites. :D:D
Mildura not as awsome as Irymple who I tipped to defeat Mildura who are suffering a Grand Final Hangover, or perhaps a hangover from Thursday after I saw a couple of very senior players downing beers that night.:eek: (Yes I know it was Thursday night, please take it as tongue in cheek.)
A good round to start the year and looks like it could be an even one. Yes its early and Wenty didn't perform how everyone expected or was it Imps who performed above expectations. We will certainly find out over the next couple of weeks as the season sorts itself out.
I now sit back in anticipation for Monday nights news to see what Big Billy has up his sleeve for a footy round up. Hopefully he is over the whole Poem thing and just does a normal report this year and does our local footy justice.

Hopefully he points out the 12 hang on i'll be honest here 10 shots at goal Mick Faulkhead got against merbein on saturday night. I was at the game and thought that it was only the continual free kicks to faulkhead that kept red cliffs in the van. Keatch was playing on him and from what i saw if faulkhead couldn't mark he would stop and block keatch's run sort of like the tunneling saga these days.
Anyway was a great game and i thought with 11 scoring shots to 4 in the last merbein were a little unlucky not to win. Both sides have improved out of sight although the red cliffs ass coach is not much chop. Hooker and riordan both still have it, matty walder wouldn't have had 10 touches on a young merbein player but i think that red cliffs are much better than anyone on here would care to admit. For the pies i think they are in the same boat and will be in every game they contest

You can never count them out, Wenty coach was very confident going into game, thought they were a 6 goal better side. Imps had 5 under 18's playing and all played very well. Also they must still be in good shape as their ressies won very well even though they had about 4 out from the ones.
Bit of a boilover with the Mildura, Irymple game surely the dee's are not suffering a premiership hang over. Maybe they are happy with their flag if the are out drinking piss on a Thursday night !!!!

I wasn't at the game unfortunately so I can't comment on the free kicks. Seems this in the back garbage (If that is what the kicks were for) have spilled down to country level. I did hear that the game was over umpired though with many free kicks around the ground.
Matty didn't have much of an impact which is a good sign for the Yellow and Blacks and with a better output from him and the Assistant Coach they will be better come round 2.
With regard to the Imps two's I think you will find that it is more the lack of depth at Wentworth that would attribute to thier win. The roos have struggled to have a two's team that is competitive for a few years and from reports they are struggling to even field a team.
Great to see almost every team blooding the young kids. I am sick of reading that it's a YOUTH POLICY though. I think it is more to do with requirements due to the lack of senior players going around. They are doing very well though with many kids 18 or under featuring in thier teams best.

They had 22 in Saturday, with a few still to come, so no problem with fielding a team at this stage. For the first time in a number of years they fielded a side that did not require any U/18's to play two games.
Things are not as bad out there as we may have thought. There is a bit of work to do in the two's but they will be more competitive than they have been in the last few years once they have a few more games under the belt.
Anybody out at the game on the weekend will agree with me that the wenty seconds showed a little bit in the second half against Imps.... however still have a lot of work to do

Thats good to hear deposit. Nothing worse than a side not being able to find the numbers and relying on young kids to play two games of footy each weekend. No doubt Alves will be doing everything possible to get things right out there and if they are now getting the numbers that is a good step up on last year.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

imps will fiinish in the top 2 along with mildura.. wentworth will finish 3rd, redcliffs irymple and robinvale will fight it out for 4th spot. south and merbs will rund out the bottom 2.. have yu seen much of brad mentiplay ?
delray a few bak for the swallows should b good.. but apparently crossling in out for 8-10 ant truth delray?? massave loss..
Yeah Can confirm on crozzo will miss six. Had the big fella round for tea, wearing the moon boot lot worse then the rolled ankle we suspected gunna really stretch the young swallow list.
Just commenting on a previous post Simms and thug i dont think go real well together. He would have to be the hardest and fairest player ive seen. I would consider the weekends incedent as a 1 in about 190 - 210 SFL games.

He has plenty in the bank if he did hand one out on Satdy, I would reckon he could hand another 100 odd out and still have plenty of interest left......
ps Delray I thought you would be still hung over after those Blues won.......

Predictions:
Robinvale by 24pts over Mildura... Only if they keep Matthews to 1or2 goals
Imperials by 56pts over Red Cliffs... Red Cliffs not as good as what ppl say, Malic is going to be a superstar
Wentworth by 150pts over South Mildura... bell to kick 20 Wentworth way to strong
Merbein by 5pts over Irymple... I believe the game is won in the ruck and without Crossling, Mason wont mach the combo of Riordan & Wright

Mildura to beat Robinvale by 38.. matthews is the key!
Imperials to beat red cliffs by 15.. too much experience for the tigers
irymple to beat merbein by 40! the young kids will run merbein off there feet
wentworth to beat south by 84.. too good for south all over the ground

Not as good as people say but better than IMPS apparently on the night. A very entertaining game to watch. Tiges looked gone a couple of times but managed to shut down Imps on two occasions to keep themselves in the game. Managed to over run the green machine in the last, attacking for most of the quarter. A good sign for the future of the club I would say and still plenty to work on. Should be an interesting weekend this week against Wenty. A good test to see the boys get more consistent over a full 4 quarters.

Mildura will
Imps will
Robinvale will
Wentworth (with no injuries) will
Irymple may or may not
RC, South, Merbein a toss up. You've got to beat the above sides.
RC defeated the Imps boys so one down, three to go.:thumbsu:

if red cliffs play like they did in that last quarter against imps for the whole four quarters then they will defintly be a top 4 side. maybe even top 2! south showed alot of good sighns on the w.e too

what a f***wit football legends gets red carded so he jus changes to another alias and helps to contribute to the forum by saying. Merbein will win the flag which is an extremely bright thing to say when they are 0-3. Serious question. Are you all there up top or not??

Red Cliffs looked ordinary today. Ibis, for a bloke that you have pumped up so much, Walder was Shite. Wouldn't have had any more than 10 touches.

oy WAYNE! walder is awesome, just cause he plays one shit match doesnt mean hes shit.. the only reason he played shit was because wentworth done a good job of tagging him. you wont see him play that shit again.

Yes, a quiet day by Walder but if you look at the scoreline and watched the entire game there aren't too many that played well at all.
Certainly be hard to find a 4 qtr contributer. The young fellas did a good run with job on Matty but I'm sure he will bounce back as will the rest of the side for next week against the doggies who had a good win on the weekend.

What is going on at mildura? 2 losses with a side they have, are they taking it too easy?
Good to see $cat$ doing well this year, thought the work trailor we brought him might slow him down.
Great to see richo home on the wkd, hopefully he will qualify for the finals and with Petrie home from Jamaca we will have a awesome side come September.

6 players out from last weeks side, plus another slow start...i wouldnt be too concerned at this point for the Dees...
Now i know its not massive news but ive heard that red cliffs has sacked there reserves coaches. Rumor i have heard is that ibis is taking over the reins. Please confirm some1 from tiger land or even Ibis himself.
Well done sth. Now fellas how does 7 divide into 4. Its gunna be very tight at the top: Imps, w/worth, R/vale, Mild, R/cliffs, Irymple & Sth. All fighting for only 4 spots.

Some great match ups in the wenty v mildura game this week. Connick vs Bell, Matthews vs Rigby, plus some other great duels around the ground. Both have strong midfields. Should be very entertaining.
