Its one thing to move interstate but it would be ten times worse I would imagine to move to a new Country.

Lucky they didn't say "Bugger, we're left with the dud";)
Oh dear. Here I was thinking "what a lovely bunch these bigfooty folks are. A thread dedicated to my departure from my role at the Club".................
Ahh well, looks like you are stuck with me again now back here!
Bring on the Lions in 2006 - hurry up - I'm getting bored waiting!

Time for a change of scenery Danni?
Yeah. My life has changed dramatically in the last 6 - 12 months, and with the baby growing up so quickly and my son entering high school, and the restructuring going on there, it's for the best. The other half started a new job with shocking early starts and he is also travelling a fair bit for work this year, so yeah, it's definately for the best.
Plus I really really miss talking footy with people!! It wasn't something I could do when there!
And not that I can say much more about it all (;) so dont bother asking coz I won't be answering questions about players/coaches/internal workings etc) but I do have to say that our Football Department and it's staff are some pretty incredible and inspirational people. It's been an absolute honour and a pleasure to get to know them professionally and personally and their influence brought about nothing but positive changes in my life.
We as supporters are very very lucky. We've got the best of the best working their tails off to bring the best out in our boys. I've got enourmous faith in them and Leigh's new structure, that it will bring much better results in 2006.

Is this the restructure that has us with 3 fitness people instead of 1.

I can't imagine that. have a niece on an exchange at the moment she is 16 in Europe.Struggling immensely.Everything is different. She has no expectations on her though, as this poor kid would have had on him.
Especially if as I heard, we can be a tad on the macho crap stuff in the footy side of our club.Fancy not realising he was homesick.Fancy not placing him suitably, or seeing his interests and needs were catered for.It ain't rocket science.A female influence and homely home is what is called for in these times. Not macho stuff. Our players are all not the same, the sooner we realise that the better for our team.
If we are going to waste money going overseas and doing these experiments, they need to get it right when they get hereAlso for the interstate players, who find themselves stuck here.We need to ensure we have in place the correct measures for them indiviually.Make them feel comfortable enough to speak to you,and not feel emabarrassed at being homesick. It escalate very very quickly when you are miles away from home and miserable. No one noticed.
Poor kid.

You are better off out of that macho crap Danni.
Now you can be a real screaming footy fan again.
Hope they were nice to you though.I have heard that when Starch and Kinnear left, they were cold and clinical, and it came out of left field for them.
Good people treat badly.
You will get a great job after working there.Try another footy club or code.

Col'm Begley. He's doing great. Well ahead of expectations skill wise. He's really settled in well and is enjoying himself. The club has set him up at uni etc.
He's in it for the long haul, Leigh is apparently thrilled with him.

Does that come under the salary cap and cost of living I wonder?

Its a shame really that they took theri eye off the ball with the other one.Maybe they thought he wasn't a goer after all.

Why are people assuming its the club's fault? You can't test someone for homesickness before you recruit them.
He is only 19 and while it was his dream to be a professional footballer, he grew up in a village of less than 500 people and moving across the world to a fairly big city was too much of a shock to his system. There is not too much the club can do about that. If he misses his mum, he misses his mum.
Good on the club for not putting him through hell for it. They took a gamble on him and it didnt pay off, its part and parcel of the international rookie concept.
I wish Quigley all the best and hope he enjoyed being a member of the club for even a short period. I'll be keeping an eye on his GAA career and hope he goes well.
