I heard Simpson on the other day talking about how flawed the techniques of the South Africans and some of the Sri Lankans are and how they will never be successful until they fix them up. Is it because we have the best coaches? Is it because our past greats are helping out. Does it mean that minnow nations like South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh who haven't got past great need to spend money and import some to help develop their players? Simpson thinks we will dominate until some of these other cricket nations learn how to nurture their young talent. I think he might underestimate though how much talent we actually produce compared with them. It seems we are blessed. We have easily the most beautiful country out of the cricketing nations apart from some of the Caribbean islands, the greatest past players, the best weather, the best coaches, the best grounds with the greatest capacity and so on and so on. How lucky we are to be born here. Imagine being unlucky enough to be born in Bangladesh or South Africa. England's weather is ******** as well.

I don't think the Australian's techniques are actually that good. About the only Australian with a really good technique is Langer.

The Poms kinda make our so called good techniques look ********, didn't they, eh?

Mike Hussey's the only one who I'll mark as having a top class technique, most of the rest are as flawed as they come. Only coz the bowling of Sri Lanka and South Africa are too ******** to make a difference

I would say that we have the best techniques to handle the australian conditions , but you would expect that . The sri lankans always struggle anywhere with a bit of pace and bounce , and the south africans were picked apart by some quality bowling and planning .

Technic wise though i don't think we handle the swinging ball well , see Ashes 2005 !

Well said. No doubt it a big help if you grow up on fast, bouncy pitches. It's much, much easier to adjust your technique downward (to slow and low pitches) than the other way. Otherwise I don't think Australia's technique is any better than any other sides. Excellent point about the Ashes series, against quality seam and especially swing bowling, the starstudded Australian lineup looked like leadfooted spastics.

I can't remember Australia's brilliant technique and coaching methods doing them any good from say 1983-1990. A couple of series against the West Indies in particular showed them up badly - on their own pitches.

Quality players are the same no matter where they're from. And coaching doesn't make that big a difference. People forget when Simpson was in charge for a long time Australia couldn't win in the West Indies or the subcontinent. Maybe the coaching methods weren't that effective when he was in charge??

We play on a variety of pitches.
Our junior system is one of the best starting with Milo kids and then going on up to under 17-18 level. Means kids are ready to play senior level cricket.
We play 45 over a side cricket from a young age, where as a country like england plays a lot of evening 25 over a side cricket. With only seniors getting to play full day cricket.
kids live and breathe cricket here, they want to go to training. They train hard and they enjoy it. But you could say that about alot of countriesThe more someone plays and trains, the better their technique become. Practice makes perfect.....
