MERGERS:
Back in 2004 Coreen League club Hopefield-Buraja Bulldogs folded due to lack of numbers and small village attrition in Grassroots areas.
Good News
The club has now merged with last years Grandfinalist Coreen-Daysdale Utd Saints to form for 2006 Coreen-Daysdale-Hopefield-Buraja United Football Netball Club. For this season the amalgamation will remain the Saints. For the future a new name, colour and emblem will be agreed on at the next AGM. The club may rename similar to Billabong Crows (Oaklands and Urana).
Following in the next posts are the news articles in relation to the merger.

Bulldogs come back from dead with merger idea
Hopefield-Buraja - the forgotten football club of the region - could again be represented this year, courtesy of a surprise bid to merge with Coreen district league powerhouse Coreen-Daysdale United.
The Bulldogs went into recess before the 2004 season but have still kept a committee and will hold an extraordinary general meeting on Tuesday to vote on the merger.
Club secretary Greg Filliponi said the option to merge was perhaps the last option to keep the club alive in a playing sense and should gain good support.
"It's certainly given us a bit of hope that our name will carrying on in a sense," Fillponi said yesterday.
"We've still got I think 50 or 60 members, about 25 of which are life members."
"It would give them a place to belong to and a footy club to follow," Filliponi said.
"Its certainly good for any community to have a football team and its been missed for the past couple of years and although many people have moved on elsewhere, I suppose it would give a place for past players to come back to if they wanted to."
The new club is likely to be called Coreen-Daysdale-Hopefield-Buraja United or CDHBU, however it is unclear whether Buraja would keep Hopefield in its title.
Coreen and Daysdale football clubs merged in 1996 while Hopefield and Buraja merged in 1950.
The Bulldogs won successive flags in 1995 and 1996 however were forced into recess less than a decade later due to a player shortage.
The club will remain at the Saints clubrooms for at least next season and continue with its red, white and black strip.
While little is expected to be gained in terms of player numbers, Coreen-Daysdale United secretary Chris Collins said the merger would attract a stronger supporter and volunteer base.
"I think from our end the vote will go through because its an opportunity to spread our club a bit further and theres still plenty of junior footballers and netballers coming up through Buraja," Collins said.
"For those people it would be great for them to be able to keep supporting a club

Decision time for football merger
A MERGER between Coreen-Daysdale United and Hopefield-Buraja football clubs has been given the green light from members.
The new clubs will finalise the formalities, including the name of the new club, at a meeting for all members at Coreen tomorrow (31st January ).
In recess since 2004, Hopefield-Burajas committee said last week it believed the only way the club could be represented was through the merger after a lack of players forced it to shut the doors on the club.
CDU secretary Chris Collins said both clubs membership bases were in favour of the merger and would now meet to decided on a name.
"Were rapt with the attention weve got about it all and I think its a good step forward for everyone involved," Collins said.
"Weve got to decide what were going to call ourselves now, whether we adopted Hopefield-Buraja or just Buraja and where it goes in the name.
"Wed just love to see as many people, especially at Buraja get behind it and offer their opinions."
Coreen and Daysdale football clubs merged in 1996 while Hopefield and Buraja merged in 1950.
The Bulldogs last won a premiership when they snared successive flags in 1995 and 1996.
The club will remain at the Saints clubrooms for at least next season and continue with its red, white and black strip.
The meeting will be held tomorrow night (31st January) from 7pm at Coreen.
