Apparently because we're in Darwin we are allowed 26 players and it looks likely that Grant will be rested.
My guess would be:
b: Morris Harris Hargrave
hb: Gilbee Morgan McMahon
c: Eagleton West Giansiracusa
hf: Murphy Skipper Cooney
ff: Robbins Davidson Johnson
r: Minson Birss Cross
bench: Hahn Boyd Ray Street Smith Griffen Ray Wight/Walsh

Interested to see Morgan in the team
a: Is he fitter now?
b: Is he good enough?
I hope so....

I really like that line up Anja, it has a very good structure. The defence has size and drive, the centreline has class and variety and the forward line oozes talent. My only suggestion is that we only have one Ray on the bench and take KMac in the place of Ray's double.

Griffen on the bench doesn't seem right though.

Agreed.
And Faulkner is a certain for the Wizard Cup too.

Using Anjas team as a base I would line up like this (changes in bold):
b: Morris Harris Hargrave
hb: Gilbee Morgan McMahon
c: Eagleton West Griffen
hf: Murphy Skipper Giansiracusa
ff: Robbins Walsh Johnson
r: Minson Cooney Cross
bench: Hahn Boyd Ray Street Smith Mcguiness
If Grant is available I would put him at CHB with Morgan moving to CHF and drop Skipper.

All the guys fighting it out for positions with a few in different positions just to try. Cooney and Cross with cameos off the bench just because I like them and to make the numbers up to 24.

I would be having a good look at the rucking department with maybe playing only Street or Minson with Skip & Wight.
Knowing the greater reliance on these two throughout the year I would look at rotating them over the course of the next month to Keep them fresh for the home & away, (plus finals;) ) while also looking to develop a third and fourth option if required throughout the year
would also like to see Skip trialled at FF rotating through the ruck & bench
Think similar consideration should be given to B.Harris maybe half a game then rotate morgan, walsh, wight at FB to asses the potential FB options if the need arise.
As far as pockets, flankers, wingers and on ballers the combo's are huge, all could potentially be trialled in either positions. I would like to see westy play a forward role (every time he touches the ball it could be a handball goal assist) with cross and Hahn rotating in the gutz.
Condering we have 26 and we can be afforded some pre season experimentation my guess is something like.
Morris..Harris..Faulkner
McCormick..Hargraves..Griffen
McMahon..West..Gilbee
Cooney..Murphy..Johnson
Baird..Skipper..Robbins
Minson..Giansiracusa..Cross
Inter..Street..Wells..Smith..Higgins..McGuiness..Smith..Birs s,Wight or Power

Many people seem to be putting our best side up or something very close to it.
So heres a side with good players and also different posiions.
B: Faulkner, Morgan, Morris
HB: Baird, Wight, Ray
C: McMahon, Cooney, Gilbee
HF: Griffen, Skipper, McCormick
FF: Hargrave, Davidson, McGuiness
R: Minson, Cross, Johnson
I/C: Smith, Robbins, Street, Power, Birss, West
4 people on the bench usually in the 18, along with Granty not in the side at all and No harris...
We all know Harris can confidently so just removing a KPP to fit otehs in>
Wonbt line up that way but would be fun

Power Faulkner, McGuiness and Morgan should play, I don't think Davidson will get a run, Grant and Eagleton should be rested, so going with that this is what I came up with.
B: Moris Haris Faulkner
HB: Gilbee Morgan Hargrave
C: Griffen West McMahon
HF: Murphy Skipper Gia
FF: Robbins Street Johnson
R: Minson Cooney Cross
I: Smith Hahn Wight Power Birss McGuiness Boyd Baird

Would Morgan be regarded as ready/fit? If not, who replaces him?
I've heard Farren Ray may be a doubtfull starter due to groin soreness.

From what I've heard he is training with the main group, wouldn't expect him to play a full game at CHB, Baird, Wight and if need be Hargrave should have a run there.
If Ray didn't play one of Higgins, B. Murphy or McCormack would be in line for a game. Alot of competition around.

Melbourne will be keen to get off to a good start. No Neitz for Melbourne so we can probably play one less tall than what we might have had to.Should give us a good indication as to whether our players were as hurt by that round 21 loss as what they have said.I am not all that worried about the result to be honest but given the way they have constantly referred to that round 21 game you would hope they would now come out and back it up.
If they are looking at playing Faulkner as a small defender then it could be a good chance to give him a crack at Aaron Davey just to see where he is at.Rather experiment with it now than in the season proper.Davey will probably be a bit slippery for him but it would be a good learnin curve provided that Davey is even playing.
Would prefer Eade to avoid playing Harris on Robertson who is at the peak of his powers.I know Eade likes keeping Harris on the last line at any cost but I dont think playing on these mid size players is working.Would prefer the job went to Hargrave or Morris.
Hoping that they go with Davidson so that we can pump another game into his body.Morgan must be far too underdone to play straight up and Grant will be rested so there is plenty of room for him.
Could be a bit of a job to be done for someone on Travis Johnstone.Usually responds well to a full pre season and is the most damaging midfielder that they have.Doubt Eade would want to jump straight into tagging opposition players but maybe Cross could keep a bit of an eye on him or even Boyd.Be interesting to see if he uses Morris further up the ground as well.Could even use Griffen as a more defensive midfielder.
On Friday we almost always had 2 guys coming out of the square.Wouldn't be suprised to see K-Mac and Robbins get first crack at this with Skipper/Davidson and the smalls like Murphy,Johnson and Guido playing further up.
Interested to see how the dees use Pickett if he plays.Good fit for Melbourne.

I've heard Farren Ray may be a doubtfull starter due to groin soreness.
He hasn't really had a full session since they returned from the Xmas break so I agree he must be doubtful. They might use him on the extended bench though for a quarter or two.
I'll have a go:
B: Faulkner Morgan Morris
HB: Gilbee Wight Hargrave
C: McMahon Hahn Griffen
HF: R Murphy Skipper McCormack
F: Robbins McGuinness Johnson
R: Minson Cross Boyd
Int: Street Davison Cooney Power Higgins Gia B Murphy Harris
(8 man bench for round 1 NAB cup, reducing to 6 after that?)
Notes: Grant, West, Eagleton & Smith to be rested, Ray probably not ready
- Eade has said no player will play more than 3/4 of the match, so Harris to start on the bench and possibly get a run at CHB for a qtr (Could be a matchup at CHB for Hall, J Brown there during regular season)
- K-Mac given a shot at FF, Davision changing with him
- Morris given first crack at Robertson, Power could get a shot later in the game
- McCormack & Higgins changing from the HFF, the Murphy's rotating through the other flank
- Boyd to be given the No 1 tagging role

Firstly, I'm hoping Robbo doesn't play FF unless he is interchanging there. If Melbourne relies on him as our no.1 target we won't get very far come September. I would hope a Paul Johnson or a Lynden Dunn starts at FF with Robbo playing out of the square as usual just not being the official FF.
Faulkner vs Davey would be an interesting one, but I'd expect Davey to win that even though it is only a preseason match.
Along with Neitz other players being rested are White, Yze and Nathan Brown, so since the Doggies seem to be fielding a relatively strong side I'd expect them to win.
I'd love to see Davidson get a go, I've been wondering if so far on the training track he has been holding back a bit to see how the leg go's.
nobody has mentioned Monty! Is he fit to play, has he said hes not going to play or have people forgoten about him?

I'm sure he hasn't been going full tilt because he needs to work his way into full fitness. I would suggest the NAB cup is a great chance for him to be used on and off the bench and to test his worth against a good team in difficult conditions.

I agree that it's odd seeing Griff on the bench, but I think all of my midfield and backline players are a better fit for their positions. McMahon, Gilbee, Hargrave, and Morris all had better seasons in the backline last year and our midfield unit is very strong and experienced at the moment. I'd still give him plenty of gametime. He hasn't really shown enough as a midfielder to knock any of the others out of the starting 18. Just a personal opinion. Not sledging him - I think in the long run he'll be better than Cooney.
Walsh is injured and McGuiness has been terrific of late, so I'd make some minor changes.
b: Morris Harris Hargrave
hb: Gilbee Morgan McMahon
c: Eagleton West Giansiracusa
hf: Murphy Skipper Cooney
ff: Robbins McGuiness Johnson
r: Minson Birss Cross
bench: Hahn Boyd Faulkner Street Smith Griffen Power Wight/Davidson
I'll assume Grant and Ray won't play, but if Grant wanted to then I'd knock out whichever one of Davo and Wight was in line to play and send K-Mac to the bench.
