View Full Version : Davidson v Walsh

Most here seem to have one of Skipper, Murphy or Morgan at CHF.
If either Davidson or Walsh or are to be in the side, really only leaves FF for one of them.
Who is more likely to start Rd1 and why?

I think the most significant comment from Old School's report on training on 15/2 was the performance of Walsh against Davidson where Walsh won the majority of the contests.
The reports of the pre-season in general re Walsh have lifted my hopes for his future.
One thing I like about the reports is his booming kick - now if he can only get the pill.

Has played at FF during two of the intra club games I have seen. Eade says he will be used at CHB on occassions as well.
I don't think he will play in the 1st round of the NAB cup.

Just on Walsh, he did get the better of Davidson during the contest but Davo did pretty well. I do recall that long kick he slotted through for outside of 50 so providing it is a 50 mtr line then it was a big kick.
Walsh still has a bit to prove but I'm not writing him off at all.

Knee injuries aside, Davidson is more developed because he's two years older. Davidson is very big in the upper body (plenty of time in the gym while his knees recovered) and if his knees hold up (a big ? there) he would be a walk up start.

was that walsh playing forward? davidson has never played back before to my knowledge, so while its a tick for walsh, its not neccesaarilly a mark against davidson if we are looking at who to play forward.

I think he will really just play as a utility, wherever he is needed, he kicked a lot of goals last season starting in the backline and pushing forward.
I dont think he should play at all in the NAB cup, nor should West or Smith IMO - cant see what is to be gained from it for them. We are better of developing Higgins, Griffen, Walsh, Wight, Davidson, BMurphy etc

I have only seen him at training once but Davidson looks more lean than muscular.Actually I kept having to look twice to see if it was a leaner Griffen.

Whilst it'd be nice to have a few of the experience players in (Grant, West, Johnson, Smith) and to go after the NAB Cup, I think you're probably right. Especially after injuries to Darcy, Williams, and the shaky hamstrings of Morgan, we really need to develop such guys as Skipper, Walsh, Wight, Davidson, Baird, K-Mac, Power, Faulkner & D-Mac. This is the group that we'd like to see as much as we possibly can of before the start of the season. Granted we can't play them all at once, but it'd be a real treat if they could get 2+ games in the NAB so as we can get an idea as to how they preform.
Give them both a run. Eade has said no player will get more than 3/4 on the ground anyway, and with the expanded bench surly they can both be given a chance to impress.
Given they both have had a bad run with injuries, it will be a case of last man standing?

Here here. I would also give Baird a run as well.
...it will be a case of last man standing?
I really, really, really really wish I didn't say that yesterday.
Man I feel like a prick, very bad news for Walsh.
Maybe K-Mac & Grant at FF & CHF before anyone else?

mate looks like davo will have to do the job now
