On a warm February afternoon, Magpie supporters turned out in force at Goshes Paddock, nearby the Lexus Centre to welcome in the new football year on the clubs Family Day. In what has become an annual event on the Black and White calendar, supporters turned out in their droves, flocking to catch an autograph and a photo of their heroes, with all bar one player – the injured Sean Rusling – in attendance. President Eddie McGuire gave a strong and positive pep talk to the masses, before leading all in a boisterous rendition of Good Old Collingwood Forever. With the first match of the NAB Cup only a week away, the Magpies look set to shrug off their injury woes and give September a decent shake.

Pics will be on Nicks soon.

As long as we remain (relatively) injury free, we will be playing finals footy with out a doubt. I can see the hunger in the players eyes!

No doubt about it. The team is looking better than it has for a long while. The injection of youth is just what we need.

Good report, more focused on the Family Day festivities...liked it, and strong words from Eddie aswell.

Johnno, can you please confirm the following quote (or context)?

"He was given a very specific job and that was to get us up the ladder because we needed to because of where we were as a club - he did that magnificently.

“He could have actually kept going but decided to take a few risks in changing the list so that we’d be ready to go in a couple of years time and I think he’s shown tremendous guts, determination and courage to do that.” - emcguire
First sentence is OK. Yep, two good years up the ladder.

Next sentence, "He could have actually kept going...". What the ******** does this mean? He feigned injuries for two years to secure some fresh blood??

Let's congratulate Malthouse on drafting duds, and then having the guts to recognise this by tanking and then drafting decent players. She's all a bit confusing!

The Family Days at Vic Park were better in my opinion.

I honestly don't know. I have it on video (quicktime) - taped it.

Yeah, we saw two signs towards the 2006 season...1 was Collingwood, 2 was Price of Food.
