Heath Shaw (born November 27, 1985) is an australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League

After being drafted under the father-son rule in the 2003 AFL Draft at pick 48, Heath made his AFL debut in 2005 against St Kilda at the Telstra Dome. He was a solid contributor since making his debut, with his best game being his first. A running defender, Heath has pace and good ball skills which can make him into a good footballer. He played all possible remaining 6 games of the season and kicked his first goal against Adelaide in a game that saw Collingwood lose by more than 100 points.

Round One

Heath was named in the Round 1 squad during the early week considering the 5 day stretch of Round 1, but was excluded from a final 25, then 22. Dane Swan, a man who is in the same boat as Heath as a half-back flanker starred on Monday Night, having more than 30 touches and ranked 2nd in the AFL for Marks with 15, which may pause senior selection for Heath.

From reports, Heath was okay in a Williamstown practice match during the weekend, but could be weeks before he is seen in the side. The VFL season starting this week could determine his spot in the senior side, and with his pace an asset plus his development over 3 pre-season, he should be ready to stamp himself into a regular by seasons end.

So far nothing too much to report on.

Round Two

Heath Shaw suprised everyone in what I thought was an amazing all-round performance during the Round 2 AFL weekend.

Heath was named emergency in the final side, with him being named in the squad on Thursday night. He played for Williamstown in their win over Box Hill Hawks on a windy afternoon at Burbank Oval, and dominated play, named best on ground. Shaw had close to 30 touches during the match.

On Sunday, he came in as a late replacement for Scott Burns. Shaw had just come off a fantastic match just 20 odd hours earlier, yet he was fit enough and capable to play another game of football. Limited game time was seen from Heath but when on he was fantastic at finding the ball at half-back.

He finished with 16 touches and 6 marks in his first senior appearance in 2006, but no kick was better than a spearing 50m pass through the middle of the ground, to find Chris Tarrant nipple surrounded by four Hawthorn players, and a definate highlight of a match the Pies won by 6 goals.
