Isnt it interesting that almost daily during the Federal Election campaign the Coalition released reports to the media about illegal boats heading to Australia .... magically since the election NOT ONE SINGLE REPORT .... oh yes Johnny you guys didnt play the race card DID YOU?

Thats a good point actually.
It doesn't surprise me all that much though. Its just typical of this government. They have lied to the Australian people from day one. Now we have to put up with another three years of them

Well, the majority of the voting population fell for it, and the rest of us have to suffer it!
What is interesting though is now the Taliban have gone from Afghanistan, the people are staying put there. So the amount of refugees coming from Afghanistan is considerably less.
What's the betting though that Johnny will say it is due to his "tough stance" on border protection? And most of the people will believe him!

John Clarke did something similar in a spoof interview of costello on ABC.
Minister ther don't seem to be any boat people reports now the election is over
Yes that proves our policies are working.
What else came out after the election ? That the SAS had progerssed all the way to perth and were now going to Kuwait ! I thought that war was over 10 years ago.
The Taliban must be quaking in their boots.

Have you thought for a minute that there might actuall be NO BOATS coming. Perhaps the tough policy is starting to work.

LOL - Oh that is a good one - especially considering that the majority of the publicised boats were from Afgahnistan.....
Under the Taliban 'television' was banned..........except for the Taliban news agency broadcasts...... and I really can't see the Taliban broadcasting L'il Johnny's so called "tough stance" as an exception to their 'no international news' rule.
How on earth would the Afgahnies have known about the so called 'tough stance'?? It wasn't on tv there, it wasn't on the radio there, it wasn't in the newspapers there, oh yeah and the internet was illegal too, so the majority of the population couldnt' have found out that way either.
I am soooooooo happy that Kevin Rudd is the shadow foreign affairs minister, he has a meeting/briefing with Downer on this issue and 2 others, tomorrow. Rudd is my local member, the only returned ALP member in the country who was returned with an increased majority. He has done a fantastic job in our electorate, better than any member has done here in the last 20 years (we have lived here for 20/21 years).

Um.....I think you'll find that there aren't any boats coming from Afghanistan mainly because it's a landlocked country. ;)

Howard wins an election and all of a sudden the boats just STOP coming?
That is extremely naive to think that.
What policy? The one that says we will pay other countries to take the people trying to get into our country?
Great policy that.
I think I would rather be kept in one of those camps, then be in a war torn country like Afghanistan, so no stupid policy would stop me, and i dont think they'd be any different.
