Teams trying to make the final. I am involved at a Premier club. We would have done the same thing. It is well within the laws of cricket. You are in fact allowed to forfiet an innings if you wish......all about what best suits your situation.

When a team makes 3/93 or something you are extremely unlikely to wipe them out for 160 on the same pitch

Couple of early wickets chasing that total and they would have kept going for them.....maybe you need to review why both sides woud have been trying to win the game outright even if one of those teams had not taken first innings points.
