fair point. thats why you do what you do on a sunday. preece did not even get a call for bushies yet others who had a poor year did. as you have said privately to me it is hard to work out how they select their "elite". Preece did come runner up in the medal last year

i thought he played in the trial game at rumbalara? not to sure tho...
dunno how he didnt get picked to train compared to some, same with alot of guys from the trail game, cullum, muggleton etc guys thats played marjor league seniors during the year at there clubs as 16/17yr olds

iv also spoken to them

mate it is a joke that united has spread. got it in writing tonite. both stayin put. check it out if u know em. united are just hopin cause they missed the boat.

apologies he did have a run and got the chop - unfortunately. i can name plenty who should not be there but are. its harder to get out than in the squad. they seem to pick at under 15 level and stick with the majority of them right thru came hell or high water!!

Two different responses based on the first scenario of Finnen makin bushies. Secondly I did a bit of research and that is why i posted the second time. Note the substantial time difference in the replies. I made the effort to check out your unsubstantiated rumour and found it to be false. and that is from the horses mouth so to speak.

round 4 is irrelevant as the discussion is not who may win the match but where the players end up. you state one will not be at the swans and intimated that he would be at united. i say your wrong. round 1 will tell whom is playing where. care for a wager?

the only reason i posted that they MAY not be at the swans is becuase i have spoken to jessie myself and if circumstances out of his control happen then he most likely wont be playing at swans! but there is a fair chance he will be playing for them... and as for preece his reasons are different but he will most likely be playing at swans too.. but is still a chance not to play there depending on how things go over the next month or so

Won't be able to get there tonight as I have to take my kids to swimming lessons. I went down last Monday but only seniors were training (numbers looked a bit down). Thought the 3rds were starting training that night. The President told me that they actually start tonight.

mate he got the chop at the practice match they held!!

Bears from what i here have not picked up many 'name' players. had OK numbers at training but not sure of the depth.

at this time of the year not too many are settled. plenty are having a run at a couple of clubs to see how they might go for a game against the guys that are training at the clubs. United seem to have the most top age players - perhaps footy08 can confirm.

yer with any luck bears will drop a bit this year! theyve been up there for long enough ;) lol

we have had pretty good numbers at training with about half top agers, with good younger guys there as well, i think some of the lesser rated players will be the surprise for us.. been a few guys training very well. Pretty sure our list will be close to finalised by next week :thumbsu: will be interesting to see who commits and who doesnt

I heard from a mooroopna source that the mail on Wilson is spot on. Trained at swans on wednesday night, my source only stated that wilson was looking at playing and had not yet signed. Cannot understand what might have happened for him to consider a move. It will be interesting to see if he lodges a clearance what will happen. If I was mooroopna I would consider him a required player, after all he has only had the 1 season their at 3rds level.

and united's list ? then i will have a dip:cool:
I'll go down to United training next week and get some names to post. I do understand that they are also still in the market for Muggleton and Trelfall. If they end up at United, their squad is going to be very very tall, fast and talented. I was down there the week before last and they had some big bodies on the track like Gribbons, Mellington, Keddell, Tuckett, Yze, Trevaskis, Hall, Tetley and McCluskey. There were others as well but not sure who they were. I will talk to a few of the parents next week and get a list. Better still, you should come down and have a look. I was down at swans earlier this week for a few minutes. Picked up a few I see which should see an improvement this year but in my opinion still need a few more at the "special player" end of things.

Didn't see u at training on Monday Footy08, although I was only there for half an hour or so. Really good turn out for a long weekend, I counted a couple of dozen boys who were working hard. When I got here they were doing sprints (hot sweaty work). The boys looked good and sharp. Looks like a really balanced squad. I noticed Tom Preece having a run, he would be a real bonus if he made the move to United. One of the fathers commented that he was only having a run with his mates as Swans were not training. United thirds must have been the only 3rds squad having a run as I couldnt locate the Bears or Cats anywhere.

Ossie
Mepho
Ryan
Gribbo
McCluskey

They had a couple of boys at bushies I think (Jamo and Jordo) and 6 or 7 players away according to on of the officials down there. I think there might still be a couple that they are still chasing. Not sure if all these boys can play, but they looked strong, tall, fast and skillfull. I think they will have a competitive squad.

Anyone interested in a change of lifestyle which includes playing for the Zillmere Eagles in the State League competition (AFLQ) please contact me privately.

The club has a terrific history and are a young club on the rise after playing in the 2006 AFLQ Grand Final and last season winning the Reserve Grade Premiership. One of the top 5 clubs Australia Wide for players drafted.

Club has been involved in some off field issues which have now been resolved but have found ourselves slow out of the blocks from a recruiting point of view. The club is seeking recruits who feel they have something to offer at this level and would like to take the oppurtunity to live in QLD and play in the AFLQ.

Did he have a spat with a swans team mate? He didn't train at United on Wednesday night. He trained at United on Monday night and I just confirmed that there was no problems that night. He spoke to the coach after training and everything was ok. There has never been any doubt that Preecy was aligned to swans, but there was an outside chance he was reconsidering. So, is what your saying that he has stated he is staying at swans?

think youve got yourself mixed up.. he was training with swans wednesday night, not united. and i was with him monday night at united from the end of training untill he jump in the car to go home and there were no problems there.. he was pretty happy and said he had a good night at united...

yeah come on bennycuz get your facts right and stop stirring the pot. he trained back at the swans on wednesday. i spoke with him that night and yes he enjoyed the run but as Footy 08 knows he is staying at the swans. gave the lad a lift home and he confirmed to my son and i that he is staying. there will be a fair bit of excitement amongst the bottom age boys this week as they get back to school and find out whom is going where, or at least training. i went to wanganui tonite to watch united train ( i assume it was them ) must say i did not recognise many of them. no parents around but plenty of P plated cars. No Muggleton or Threlfall from where i sat. No Jordo or Jamo who were at bushies. No Doyle, O'Sullivan,Ryan etc etc but there were 26 on the track that i counted so they appear to have some numbers.

threlfal's father informned me on wednesday that he is staying at the swans also. there are plenty of talented younger players that have not even commenced training as yet so the coming weeks are bound to be of interest.;)

yeah come on bennycuz get your facts right and stop stirring the pot. he trained back at the swans on wednesday. i spoke with him that night and yes he enjoyed the run but as Footy 08 knows he is staying at the swans. gave the lad a lift home and he confirmed to my son and i that he is staying. there will be a fair bit of excitement amongst the bottom age boys this week as they get back to school and find out whom is going where, or at least training. i went to wanganui tonite to watch united train ( i assume it was them ) must say i did not recognise many of them. no parents around but plenty of P plated cars.

There was actually about 12 parents at training on that night as I spent about 40 minutes with them. Doyle, Sully and Ryan did actually train but along with a few others had to leave early for touch footy at McEwan. Coach of United told me that he was keen to close his list this Monday night and was only awaiting responses from a few players. It will be good when all the kids committ and we can look at final lists. I was at Deakin on Friday night and Trelly was training with the Bears, a Bears official told me that Wells had spoken to the boy and he sounded confident that they would get him. United believe that both Trelly and Muggelton will be training with them on Monday night. As I said earlier it will be good once all the players have committed at the respective clubs. Its a bit of a merry go around at the moment. In my opinion I think Trelly will go to Swans and Muggleton will be at United or Congupna. Just a guess.

Just spoke to United coach 20mins ago. He told me that he just spoke to trelly and United is no longer an option. Looks like it is out of Bears and Swans. Coach at united wanted to finalise his list tonight to be fair to the boys that have trained and trelly might of needed more time. I don't think he actually trained at united at all ? Hope he doesn't keep the other clubs waiting to long.

I posted the start of a United list on 29th January. Pretty sure this is spot on. Their officials tell me that they may have a couple of surprises to add to the list but wouldn't let on who they might be. The word I hear is that Kantakos will stay at Congupna and that Muggleton has narrowed it down to being between United and Congupna. I wasn't at training last night but I was told he actually did train at United and will make a final decision over the next few days. How about putting up a Swans list Mercedes?;)

Had a look at the list I posted on 29/1 and you can remove Kantakos and Preece and add the following
Keddell
Friedlieb
Collins
Baldwin
Odwyer
Ralph
Tetley
Tuckett
Plus the surprise 2 that they reckon are close to signing? Looks like a good squad. Ive looked at Bears but its hard to make out who is who as they have had their thirds and seniors together, I think? But some of the thirds would be
Thorsen
Pullen
Brun (still under16's)
Ridings
Trelfall (has been training)
Bucktin
Knight (has he trained yet?)
Rickards
Woodcock
They also have a couple of other under 16 players training. Sorry cannot help with more then that. I leave it up to Mercedes to put the swannies list up as he has a more itimate knowledge of their squad. Other then a couple of players I think most squads are fairly settled.

Not many listed with the bears looks as though they are struggling if there is all that can be listed
Don't think bears squad is settled than compared to the swans and united than

United looks as if it has got it's list stronger with those additions to it's squad from Demons4ever

Heard from a close source that ky have a training squad of 35 players including dylan smith who was runner up in tongala,s 3rd 18 last season. Apparently a very good player and at 188 cm adds even further height to the side. Their coach has stated that their squad wont be finalised till after the practice matches.

He may be a good player but if the league pace last year is anything to go on, he might struggle the first few weeks as he gets used to the pace of GV under 18's....

Just heard that Wilson will be staying at Mooroopna for 2008. He was training at Swans. Mercedes can you confirm he is staying at Cat land. IMO he should stay there, played all his junior footy and one year of under 18's there. It would be a shame for him to lose that history. Sad for swans if true as he would have been a real top pickup for them. Anyone know the cats rough list.

I think it will be very close this year with a number of clubs improving. Echuca, United, Kyabram, Mooroopna making up the top 4, Seymour, Swans, Tatura, and Mansfield making up the knocking on the doors and possible make it to finals group, and Benella, Bears, Rochy and Euroa making the bootom 4 with a couple of those clubs having a long long year. I don't believe there will be a lot between the top 8 or 9 sides this year. Only my opinion though. Don't think Echuca will dominate as some expect. Remember they won 9 or ten straight last year before a mid season slump which brought them back to the field in a even competition.

I am not sure when the final list is to be drawn up but I suspect it maybe another week or so. Still some others in the wings from what I am advised.

Yer think your spot on with Trelly, Swans look the goods there. Still think Muggles might be leaning towards Congupna. But time will tell. I heard he will be making a decision next week. I was down at Deakin tonight watching a few of the lads go around at cricket and a very reliable source who knows the family and kid told me that Liam Shaw trained at United on Wednesday night and totally committed to United for 2008. The source also told me that Swans had signed the boy before he flew out for overseas late last year (which doesn't really hold him to swans anyway). If this is true Swans would be really disappointed and Untied really happy. I saw this kid go around last year for Wanganui and I rated him very highly. Can anyone confirm, my source at United has dried up (probably because I am too honest online). Hey Mercedes, still waiting for your list, don't be bashfull, sho us what you have got up to now, lol.

Liam Shaw trained at the Swans on Monday evening. The boy had only just arrived back from overseas a day or two before and did well under the circumstances. I understand he was one of the first to sign at the Swans, perhaps he was just checking his options at United? I will make enquiries and post a list over the weekend.

Big improvement on last years squad but still a few problems for swans with that list. I have seen all these boys go around and unless most of them have improved dramatically the swans may struggle to make the finals. In my opinion the class rests with Grant, Preese and Finnen. Forget about Dash as he will be tied up with bushies (3 or 4 games). King, BT, Parris, N Barolli, and Trelfall are handy players. Muggles is yet to sign anywhere and the mail is United or Congupna. Shaw has committed to United (even though he did sign pre christmas with swans). And I have been told that Betson and Reeves are considering a return to the Road. So the list doesn't look that hot until these players are confirmed. We may have to wiat a bit longer before the swans list is finalised. The only outstanding signing for United is I believe Muggles, otherwise their list is complete. I understand that they have been knocking back quality players who left their decision too long.

I believe the Swans are after a marked improvement from last year - and that would not be too difficult to achieve as they won just the won game from memory. If they make the bottom end of the finals they would be pleased in my opinion given the age of the squad. No-one knows how anyone will perform, who may get injured etc etc so we are all just expressing our opinions which is a good conversation topic.

Any names that they have knocked back or is that too sensitive?

pretty sure this might be the one your sources were keeping from you demons... luke wants to play for united this year as most of his good mates are... but its no porky pie and pretty sure he will qualify for finals as the school comp only goes for 10 rounds.. just depending on how much tac he plays with sandringham

So the list has altered your earlier comment - "I think it will be very close this year with a number of clubs improving. Echuca, United, Kyabram, Mooroopna making up the top 4, Seymour, Swans, Tatura, and Mansfield making up the knocking on the doors and possible make it to finals group"

Not sure that it has change my initial opinion too much. I really do think the Swans will improve greatly this year. I just think that if the swans miss out on Shaw, Muggles, Wilson, Reeves and Betson the difference between their elite and other players widens greatly. With the cloness of the comp this year I don't believe they will have the quality to consistently win games over the whole year. And your right there are a lot of unknowns that could crop up for all sides. On the list posted, I think the best the swans can look forward too is 6th, 7th or 8th if everything goes their way. But we wait and see.

No idea who the knockbacks were, all I could get was that there was 4 handy players 2 from Katandra, 1 from Tally and 1 from Shepp east.

These young swans boys will prove to all u doubters that they can play.
They're not scared of all the big top age boys. They are gonna go out there and have a crack. They trained well on monday night with silky skills.
Shaw will play with Swans coz of grant. Hopefully Reeves decides to play for them that will keep Betson and Muggles at Swans
