Poll?
I think i would take Thomas, he has the ability to be amazing IMO, Murphy could and probably will be a good player but Thomas has more to offer if he makes it.

Too early to tell, haven't seen Murphy play but hopefully get to see him in the reg season while i have seen Thomas and have been very impressed, i think he has a heap of class about him and i think all of those who had a go at that pick have been vindicated because he has shown enough poise to show he will be a very good player.

So my choice is: Too Early to tell

Thread tolls, insert poll Bentleigh

Thomas has achived as much as Walker has so far. Nothing.

Shame Walker's had 2 years to do something though :D

Murphy for me hands down, he is going to be a very good player for a lot of years and consistently good.
I think Thomas is going to be a gun too, more capable of the brilliant things but yet also more inconsistent.

I think they will both be great players in their own right, different but great!

Probably too early to judge them but i am just going on what a lot of good judges have said already.

Plus being a Carlton supporter we don't need any more inconsistent players we need a couple of players that are going to hold our side together for 10 years.

Murphy for me

What you basing that on?

How can you tell Thomas is going to be inconsistent?

Because he capable of doing brilliant things?

That doesn't make him inconsistent.

Richard Cole board, not the Dal Santo board. ;)

Put him on Walker if he's so good because all Thomas has done is outmark a midget to take the mark of the century.

Walker>>>>>>>>>>>>Thomas. :D

Cypher, Walker is unfortunately a dud.

Can't kick.

One game wonder.

He beat Mcleod and Aker so he's a real one game wonder.

Maybe since his kicking skills arent his best asset he should be used as tagger and he could even take on the taller midfielders.

The other top ten picks from 2004 aren't that flash by foot either, but like Walker they all have the attitude and work ethic to improve. He isn't a soft and even took on two Crows by himself last year without any assistance from teammates. ;)

But he is best suited to a wing with his pace, size and versatility.

This is a good opinion of what he'll be when he isn't a washed up 19 year old. ;)

Thomas seems classier, while Murphy seems more an in and under player.

Both will be good to great players, though right now i prefer Thomas obviously

I would have Murphy.

He has got a very level head and you know that he will be a great player.

Thomas may be an even greater player, but he is a much greater chance (than Murphy) of being a flop. Has played well so far though, they tell me.

cypher no club in their right mind would take andrew walker at pick 2 if he was to enter the draft now. say all u like that he isnt a dud, that may be so. but he is 100% not a star and doesnt loook like becoming one. You have picked up an athlete, not a footballer. So maybe u should go praise his height and athletisism somewhere else besides a football board.

until u hear collingwood fans raving and ranting about penders on how brilliant he is, i sugguest u shut up about walker until he delivers.
also i would be hugely disspoined if my club picked up a number 2 draft pick and he turned out to be a tagger. the top 20 picks are usually reserved for future stars, not solid taggers. so dont kid urself by saying he did great jobs on stars of the game, that doesnt represent any ability of him being a future star what so ever.

back to the topic... both players look like they will have a very successful career ahead. i must admitt i was suprised that collingwood opted for thomas at #2, but now that initial worry has turned into great optimism for young daisy thomas. looks to be a good catch. murphy aswell will be a very solid contributor to a struggling midfield.

Pendlebury is an athlete/former basketballer picked at 5 in an evenly weak draft unlike the strong 2003 draft, so I know who I have my money on to be the better player. If you want raving have a look at the Collingwood board where Pendlebury handpasses once in this video or any of Zeke's crap threads about Thomas, etc.

Walker isn't a tagger and your football knowledge is very limited to that mob you call a football team. A better footballer is one that stops his man and still gets the ball, something you can't say about Chris Egan who is a downhill skier and unaccountable.

I'd be more worried about your midfield and it's future after our onballers pantsed your midfield in round 20. Buckley, Holland, Burns, Licuria, etc. are ageing like the rest of Collingwood senior players and will hit the wall in 2-3 years, if not this year.

I wouldn't be putting my money on Didak, Thomas and Pendelbury to replace them as inside players and ballwinners.

carlton have won more flags than Collingwood and have a much richer modern history. How many collingwood players made the official team of the century anyway ?
