Sat down last night and watched the replay on Fox footy and must say at that point it was enjoyable to see that jumper. It crossed my mind that it looks heaps like a state jumper and I consider that a smart move after the dummy spit by are friends a few kilometers north over our heritage jumper. Because its subtle enough if anyone ever complained about its likeness they would look like the right royal personality disordered type, yet its there to see its likeness :D

After watching fox footy's Sunday central today I am dead set against this jumper now and think it should be scrapped straight away.I can recognise our regular players from a fair way off but in this clash gurnsey I cant recognise nearly half the team.
Wayne carey and Jason Dunstall who are paid employees of clubs and respected footballers and Media personalities today pointed out the negitives to this jumper.
I in watching the whole game never recognised Ben Hart playing in tasmania, nor did I recognise Nathan Bassett and for that matter Scott Welsh and even Mathew Clarke and Jason Torney.

Dunstall and Carey in a two minute strech stated clearly 3 times that we had all our stars playing except for Mark ricciuto, so this jumper has got to go as I wanna see our players :(
They even went as far as saying we are playing all our senior players so I need to see the optomitrist badly as a result of this gurnsey.:p

Did anyone else get peed off by the commentators on Saturday night constantly getting the players names wrong. Vince was constantly called Hinge etc. etc .etc. it was much worse than normal.

Yup have to agree. It doesn't make any sense and will clash more than your normal guernsey IMO.

I didnt mind the new look.:thumbsu: I thought it looked OK with the blue shorts. The thing I didnt like was the yellow number on the red back, too hard to read the number. If it were a blue number or at least blue bordered it would be much easier to see properly.

I wouldnt relate the commentators misidentification problems to the jumper, they always get our players wrong in any jumper. It has more to do with them not doing any preparation to identify with new players and players who have changed their appearance. Typical Vic-centrics, they didnt make to many wrong calls on the Hawk lads.

Even I have trouble with Hinge and Vince on the TV, they look pretty similar to an old fellow with relatively poor eye sight.:o

A friend and I had a great laugh yesterday at that ********er Taylor out-and-out barracking for the Hawks to snatch the win.

"There's still 30 seconds, Hawks!"

"There's still a chance of rain as well, I s'pose, Brian."

The worst and best of Nine - Taylor and Lyon!

Gets!

Knights was called Skipworth several time...FFS.

I didnt mind it actually.

Even started to work out the difference between Bernie and the Doorstop.
Having the same last number made it even worse, but to my old eyes it looked ok.

Just because a couple of ex players now comentators cant work out whos who is no reason to scrap it. Give it a season to see how it goes.

Have seen the away jumper up close and I am starting to like it as well.

Similar?? I didn't have a bloody clue which was which until Hinge went off the ground!! :D

Seriously, it was very dificult to tell them apart with their fair hair, similar builds and number ending with an 8.

I couldn't excuse the commentators calling the left-footed, taller Knights as Skipworth though - just a lack of preparation by very amateurish commentators.

Am I the only one who hates the clash jumper with a passion?

Why the club didnt go with an altogether different colour is beyond me:rolleyes: is that poor marketing or what?

The depicted feathers looks like weve been plucked!

I dont know about hating it a passion but I think it is horrible and I think it defeats the purpose.

Why they didnt go with a prominantly yellow top I dont know. Its a completely different colour to anyone in the league and when we wore the heritage top it came up an absolute treat.

While I wouldn't have used your heritage guernsey - I would have used it as inspiration, predominantly yellow with a blue and red band across the guts.

To me the colour fades into the red of the guernsey .... and it doesnt have a "footy" feel.

I agree, use the heritage top as a template and go from there.

so we should back down with our tails between our legs?

Take them on I say.

It doesnt have to be the exact replica, just use the heritage as a template.

People... that uniform looked GREAT! I really liked it... for once the team looked good and professional. Also made the players look ripped and sleek. Really... the solid blue socks are SUCH an improvement over the fruit loop b.s.

That's about the only thing that gets my goat with Aussie Rules. So many of the uniforms just look amateur and pathetic. I know there's tradition involved... but updating the uniforms won't hurt anything, IMHO.

I must say I'm a little surprised that some people favour yellow over red as the predominant colour. I think if I had a choice between yellow and red in anything, whether its a jumper, a car, my underwear, whatever! I would always choose red. IMO yellow is well, not very masculine, and looks soft to me. I think our yellow heritage jumper looked better than the WWT Eagles yellow shocker, but only just.

I didn't mind the red clash jumper. However, I really believe we should be wearing the yellow clash jumper in away games against Melbourne (who also have a lot of red in their uniform).
