Batters Easily!!

Its a batsmens game.

Bowlers would get rolled, as there at a few batsmen that can bowl decent, yet very few bowlers that can stroll up and make a ton.

The batters face top bowlers like these guys all the time, they have the odds in their favour

Batters very easily for mine

Bowlers or a draw, you could very easily pick a good batting lineup made of bowlers from around the world, and with 11 bowlers the pressure is always on the batting team whereas the batsman have no decent bowlers

If the bowlers could clean up the batsman then they would win, if the batsman make a big score it would be a draw

Why is Zaheer Khan in there?

Ah yes, that's the best I could think of at the time, but now I've thought of Kumble.

Bowlers.

How many times have you seen a batsmen pick up the ball and save his team?

Could you post these teams on the CricSim, as Otis said, and see how they go on there?

Batsmen normally have to face top class bowlers - they're used to it. Once you get above 5 bowlers it becomes pointless.

You still need to score runs to win - and other than warne on occasions and Vetorri's 2 x 100's - they dont have anyone to really do anything more than go for a slog.

The batsmen on the other hand have kallis and Tendulka - both players who have 5 for's in international cricket.

So in my thinking the batsmen would probably score between 3-600 (less depending on the wicket) while the bowlers, barring one or two are just sloggers, who I wouldnt back to make more than 200-250

If someone could post their averages I will

Maybe pick a stronger bowlers side, say add Pathan

Give the bowlers Pathan, Lee, Pollock, Vaas and Flintoff and then we might get a good game.

Don't forget there are no keepers in either side, so whatever edges happened the "bowlers" side would probably drop a lot of them in the slips. While there would actually be a few specialist slips/backup keepers in the "batsmen" side to take whatever edges did come their way.

With this in mind too, then the batters side would probably post a big total, given they're accustomed to facing top class bowling all the time.

While it would be very awkward for any of the "bowlers" side to have to face the new ball, open the bat, and build an innings.

Why does the batting lineup have a genuine test allroudner? that amkes it a bit unfair.

Batsmen easily. As if you will use 11 bowlers in a game of cricket, it's just redundant. 5 or 6 would more than suffice.

Whatever the conditions, the batsmen will make a huge score, while you would never back the bowlers to score over 200-250 on a good day. A low-scoring Indian dustbowl pitch might even things up though...

Batsmen would kill them, as they already face the best bowlers, everyone would make 30 odd so 350+, then they would easily get the bowlers all out.
Players like Warne and Pathan would have to make 100's just for their side to be competitive.

In a 50 over match.. Batters would score 450-500 while the bowlers would be lucky to get 100.

Batters so easily it aint funny.

if its pure bowlers vs pure batsmen, it would be draw in a test match even though i favour the bowlers. why? if i was murali, id love to be facing the bowling of hayden lara and the like. and youd have and extra 6 or 7 bowlers to take on an extra 4 or 5 batsmen. the bowlers are in the better possie but its more likely you wouldnt get a result i feel. for an odi, batsmen would easily get more runs, the limited overs helps them out heaps and thus smash the bowlers.

Why would the batsman suddenly be able to score 9 to 10 an over against the 11 best bowlers in the world?

Because instead of having only 6 or maybe 7 pure batters, you would have 11. Basically twice as much batting depth.

Then again, if McGrath and Warne alone can account for 1200 Australian Test wickets, imagine what another 9 top class bowlers could do. Especially on a balanced wicket, not ODI flat track.

Still, the batters coming on to bowl would likely sort out the "bowling" side.

When you think of the best 11 bowlers, in being a great bowler in itself means being crappy at bat.

Doesnt mean they cant either.

Australia look to nudge 400 every now and then, so Id say 11 top batsmen could reach 500 no sweat.

I think it would be closer than people think, 11 bowlers means they are always fresh, bowling 4 or 5 over spells then off. Also makes it hard for a bastmen to get used to a bowler when they are changing to a fresh guy every 10 or 12 overs.

I think it would be a close game or a walkover by the batsmen, because the bowlers will never chase a huge total no matter who is bowling, where as the bastmen would be odds on to post a very good score and therefore shut the bowlers out of the game.

5/426
Pathan and Vettori made centuries, Warney made about 70

But it wont let the batsman reply, seems to have a problem with the bowlers team bowling, too many options maybe?

It's because Kallis is probably S.Africas best batsman, and similarly Vettori is N.Zs' best bowler. Interesting that the three batsman with the best batting averages - Kallis, Ponting and Tendulkar also have the best three bowling averages.

Low averages means the Bowlers dont bat very quickly yet the batsman cant dismiss them

Batter's 543
Bowlers 232 & 208

Batter's won by an innings and 103 runs

Man of the match: Jaques Kallis ----------------------------------------------------------------------
On a bowler's pitch the batsman dominated the bowlers and then bowled the Bowlers out wiht Kallis taking 12 for the match. If the bowlers fatigued in this game, the Batsmans team would have got beaten i reckon. But, Vettori's ton which was made off 475 odd balls almost salvaged the draw. Though, it was a 6 day game to stop draws

Squizza

Is Kallis was allowed to play, why didn't Pollock? Also why is Tait and Edwards there? Surely Bond can find a place in that team

Batter's 510 & 95/1
Bowlers 671/5d

Batter's draw with Bowlers

Man of the match: Daniel Vettori

2-0 to the batters but i think if KAllis hadn't played at all it would have been different.

Teams are a bit unfair.

You can't say that Tait, Edwards and Baisya are in the best XI bowlers in the world.

I did not make the teams, i think he put in some Windies and Bangas to get a bit of each and Tait was in because he was a South Aussie.

Cameron White wouldn't make either team :)

I couldn't see a team of batsman bowl out a team of bowlers twice, so the most likely result would be a draw ... unless it was on a pitch which was virtually unplayable.

Correct. Otherwise you would get people whinging about no Bangladeshis or West Indians.

Having said that, it doesn't really matter so much with all the other bowlers in there.

If someone does the averages i will do a 3 test series again though in each team i want a keeper because the sim doesn't work without a keeper in each side so I'll just make Dravid the batters keeper and NEl for the Bowlers keeper.

The bowling side should win that match easily...with the likes of Flintoff , Pollock , Warne and Vaas they have the batting power to score a large total against the batsmen

excellent topic

one idea might be to use the ICC rannkings and then remove any batters who have taken 5-for and any bowlers who have scored a Test hundred as they are almost certainly in the all-rounder category

then add a wicketkeeper to each team - let's say Sanga and Gilly

*Gilly replaces Pollock (all rounder)
Pathan
Warne
* Kumble to replace Flintoff (all-rounder)
Vaas
Hoggard
McGrath
Nel
Akhtar
Ntini
Muralitharan

Sanga to replace Kallis (out - all-rounder)
Sehwag
Trescothick
Ponting
Lara
Hayden
Inzamam-ul-Haq
Dravid
Khan
Yousuf
Chanderpaul

who would win?

Doesn't mean they can all of a sudden score ten an over though.

Why would it? They only scored less than 9 an over, on a small ground and against a ******** attack, we are talking the best 10 bowlers in the world here, no an RSA joke attack

You raise a good point, and Im actually at fault here because in this thread I never considered it to be a game of the Best Batters V the Best Bowlers, just a game of batter V bowlers of roughly equal talent.

If you are going to put the 11 best bowlers against a team of batters, no matter how good, then 500 might not be so easily gettable, but I'll settle for 490.
