Key Players: Leigh Adams, Daniel Hayes, Scott Dwyer, Chris Kane, Michael Della'Quilla, Daniel Noy
Injuries: None Noticeable to important top agers. Mainly to up and comming bottom agers as well as top agers yet to prove themselves.
Strengths: Big call, but eastern will be a top 5, if not top 4 team this year. Made up of predomenantly of bottom agers last year, their experience will see them well this year. Their foward line looks like their greatest asset, with Michael DellaQuilla, Matthew lobbe, Scott Dwyer and Daniel Hayes providing great fire power. leigh adams, will no doubt have a big year this year. A key to their midfield, he is a strong bodied hard running player who represented Vic Metro in the U16's in 2004. Although, Their list of bottom agers seems a bit thin, the ones they do have are quality. 4 in particular made Vic metro U16's last year in their national championships win. these players were: Jye Myers (182 cm, 80 kg Rover), Matthew Lobbe (192 cm, 75 kg Centre Half Foward/ Half Foward), Daniel Noy (186 cm, 70 kg Wingman/ Half Back/ Back Pocket) and in particular Michael DellaQuilla (183 cm, 70 kg Half Foward/ Rover). Won the Vic Metro U16 b and f, has lighting speed and good goal sense. Bookmark him in for a half foward spot amongst the likes of Hayes also, which will add great speed to their foward line. Also, Noy played about 6 games for the Rangers last year, so he will be benefited for the experience. played Very well against the cannons in the Finals at Optus last year. Overall, their smalls in DellaQuilla, Adams and Hayes will provide the key to their success. Midfield also good, with Neill, Adams, DellaQuilla, Hancock, Kane, and Wilson all being rotated throughout.
Weaknesses: Unfortunately, the mids they do have (Kane, Adams, Myers) are going to be forced to push hard to rove to the opposition ruckmen, as they themsleves dont have a recognised big man to win ruck duels against the likes of other big men in the league (Currie, Kreuzer etc). Furthermore, their overall height across the field, especially in the back half will force alot of pressure on a player like noy, a bottom ager, who will have to hold down a KPP down back. Further, Troy Wright will more often than not be forced to play down back, which could unsettle the lad. Overall, they lack a bit of depth in terms of height across the field, potentially causing problems when facing an outfit like knights with colbert, meese, riddle etc.
Verdict: Their Midfield and Foward line are all class. Although they lack a quality big man and have a problem with depth of height, they have quality smalls like adams, kane, neill, dellaquilla, wilson and myers to name a few. Their foward line is extremely potent, potentially providing the most effective and productive foward line int he comp this year.
Likely Finish: 3rd- 6th
