Im looking forward to this match, Richmond have been good in the pre-season and it'll give us an indication as to where we are at. Are we likely to play a close to full strength team? JJ playing?

Should be an interesting match. You guys weren't to bad against the Bears a couple of weeks ago where you were probably unlucky to lose, and certainly better than last year.
I wouldnt be suprised to see the Tigers rest a couple next week like Deledio, Coughlan, Newman and Richo.
Will be interesting as its the final hit out.

Im expecting maybe Hird and Johns to be rested given their injuries. Fletchand Lloydy will probably be back, and JJ will probably play a half coming back from injury.
I'd like to see Dempsey given a go to impress again, he has huge potential only need to watch the replay of that goal in the practice matchh s Sydney to tell that.

I expect Richmond to name
Chris Newman, Darren Gaspar, Brett Deledio, Andrew Raines, Troy Simmonds, Nathan Brown, Greg Stafford, Joel Bowden, Matthew Richardson, Trent Knobel, Kayne Pettifer, Patrick Bowden, Kane Johnson, David Rodan, Ray Hall, Shane Tuck, Mark Coughlan, Jay Schulz, Adam Pattison, Andrew Krakouer, Richard Tambling, Chris Hyde, Greg Tivendale, Brent Hartigan, Cleve Hughes, Andrew Kellaway, Nathan Foley
We will go pretty much full strength this game and give it a red hot go.

Will be a good hit out if you go in with that team. We'd do very well to win i suspect.
Hopefully no injuries for either side.

I'd like to see how Ryder goes in this game also. When the Bombers win I just guess it'll give Bentleigh another reason to change clubs and tell everyone on here he is a Cats fan \o/

I'll be there fellas, so i'll do some kind of report for you on friday night.
Should be a cracker, support up here would be pretty even between the two clubs, probably just in Richmonds favour due to their old zone.
i'm lead to believe both teams will be at full strength, provided no injuries.

Solomon is also named in the team & Watson is being rested
Would love to see Richie Cole play well, as well as Lee and Cartledge.
Hope Courtney Johns continues his form from last week, would love to see him play consistently at senior level, perhaps form a Lynch/Bradshaw type tandem with Lloydy

I'm hoping Lee & Nash get another game! I heard alot of people say Nash had a good game last week in Bendigo, he made a couple of mistakes but they said he gave the team alot of run out of the backline. So hopefully he can continue to improve and push for senior selction during the year!
Hird won't play, and Sheedy has already said he isn't coming.
yeah thats fair enough i wouldnt risk him either. but its looking full strength because us and richmond agreed to. Basically put on a show for the people in mildura due to the horrific events of a month or so ago to give them a good game.
Herald Sun reports James Hird is in. And both teams will be at full strength.:thumbsu:

Live webcast: Bombers v Tigers
3:10:52 PM Fri 17 March, 2006
Sportal for afl.com.au
Thanks to Telstra Country Wide, afl.com.au is able to present a special live webcast of Friday's NAB Challenge match between Essendon and Richmond at Red Cliffs, south of Mildura.
Telstra Country Wide has arranged for an outside broadcast unit to cover the match - not quite on the scale of Friday Night Football during the premiership season, but more than capable of bringing the game to many people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to see it.
There's commentary provided by Hot FM callers Geoff Lucas, Kevin Bradmore and Pat Silcox, who have been in commercial and community radio and sports casting for decades and who call the local football in Mildura each weekend.
The link to the match will be available on the afl.com.au homepage from the scheduled start time - 4.30pm EST.
The webcast is made possible through the AFL and Telstra Country Wide in partnership with Mildura Rural City Council.
The match is being played in Red Cliffs to help raise funds for the memorial fund in memory of the local teenagers who lost their lives a few weeks ago, and their families.

No link on AFL.con either.
Is this false advertising and should we start a class action? :p

I said I'd provide a report, so here it is:
My Report
A very good crowd in attendance. About 35% Ricmond, 25% Essendon, and 40% just their for the day.
A good day by our boys, a real team effort. Mostly played good direst footy (can hardly say the same for Richmond). A few standouts, but no-one really dominated for the entire day.
1st quarter best: McVeigh, Hird, Johns, Stanton, Bradley, McPhee, Monfries
2nd quarter best: Stanton, Lucas, NLM, Winderlich, M Johnson
3rd quarter best: Winderlich, Welsh, Hird, M Johnson, Hille, Stanton
4th quarter best: JJ, Winderlich, Hird, McPhee, Lucas, Welsh, McPhee
Best: Stanton, Hird, Lucas, McVeigh, Winderlich, M Johnson, Johns
Comments and ratings (out of ten)
McPhee: Played mostly off half back and took a few of his customary strong pack marks. Warmed into the game, was solid but did not star. 6
Fletcher: Ever reliable full back. Moment of the day was when Richo gave him one lace out on 50. Fletcher promptly slammed it back towards our 50. 6
Winderlich: Started off quietly, but came out a different player in the second half. He was really hard at the ball. Finished the game with between 15 and 20 disposals. 7
NLM: A few good dashes, but pretty quiet. 4
Bradley: Good, especially in the 1st and 4th quarters. Was on Richo for most of the day, and gave him a little too much distance. Richo probably had 15 marks. But did little damage as 14 of them were outside 60. Bradley overall was pretty good. 6
McVeigh: started like a house on fire, and stayed handy for the rest of the day. 6.5
Stanton: Our best player today, played a 4 quarter game and was outstanding in the second. 8.5
Solomon: a bit quiet. 3
Slattery: Tagged N.Brown for the day and held him pretty well. Not many stats for himself, but a very good team effort. 5.5
Lucas: Very, Very good. Roamed the forward line for most of the day, but finished it on the wing. Should have had more goals. 8
M Johnson: Good. 6
Hird: Excellent day, played mostly in the centre, and virtually owned. 8
Hille: Shared ruck duties with Ryder, probably did 60% of the work, and kicked two nice goals. 7
Lloyd: Good presence, more games like that please. 6.5
Monfries: A few good cameos, is improving with time. 5
J Johnson: A very good last quarter, a bit quiet for the rest of the day. 5
Ryder: Unlike Hille, when he wasn’t rucking he was off the ground. Broke even in the ruck against much stronger and experienced opposition. Hardly saw him other than the ruck contests however, except one brilliant pack mark. 4
Welsh: Good in the last two quarters. 6
Bolton: Was alright, took a big hit combined with a look away handball to give Hille his second goal. 5
Johns: Started like a seasoned pro, seemed to tire. Presented well from the square. 6
Heffernan: A few good goals, and some nice possessions around the ground. 5
Nash: Was ok, played mostly defence. 4.5
Dempsey. Warmed to the game, got a brilliant soccer goal late. Even had a scrag with a tiger’s player (didn’t see who). 4.5
Peverill: A fair few possessions, most to advantage. 5.5
