Sounds of the seventies (from england) is running again on SBS on sunday at 6:00pm.

Must see TV. even if you don't remember the seventies !

Highlights from last night:

1. The general lack of talent and choreography on TOTP at the time (it really was the decade that didn't care)

2. An aging Gary glitter staggering up a few steps in high high heels.

3. Marc Bolan

4. When the Bay city rollers came on, my three year old started tapping her feet (revival anyone)

Be sure to watch. Its not just pop there are some serious rock songs later in the series.

I'm looking forward to the sensational alex harvey band one more time.

Was that the first show last night, Pess? I caught a little bit at work, loved the old stuff. The Sweet, Mott The Hopple, Suzi Q, T Rex, saw their songs on it. Magnificent props, great choreograhpy and the glam fashions!! Whoohoo (That last bit's sarcastic, by the way folks) :D

I also thought that next grand final footy show. Jason Dunstall would be a dead ringer for gary glitter when he was younger

For me, Mud's "Tiger Feet" will always be the highlight of any daggy 70s show.

I've actually got most of yesterday's footage already - about 10 years ago I found three volumes of a glam rock video series at a video shop. Lots of Marc Bolan & T-Rex, The Sweet and unfortunately Gary Glitter. Most of it is great footage, but the tapes are now old and are crap quality.

Smashing Pumpkins - best 70's band.

The last time the played the Sounds of the Seventies, they followed it with the Sounds of the Eighties and Rock Family Trees. I hope they do that again. As for the Seventies, the first couple of episodes I didn't like too much, the show got better (the TOTP dancers did not) when the music moved towards the disco and American New Age bands. The Punk episode with Siouxsie and the Banshees was pretty good also.

Comment on the thread, dammit. I won't tolerate a winding thread. It might just end up on collingwood v essendon crowd support or something like that (oops I started it !)

Did anyone see the Sensational Alex Harvey Band playing Delilah on sunday ?
My favourite band of all time (I don't think they ever came ot OZ - Skyhooks would have been the closest thing here)
