View Full Version : Who's Hot - Who's not ?

Prodigal Sons

A few weeks into the pretend season and the real stuff looms - how are some travelling at the Cattery ?

Hot > Tenace has impressed me with his improved disposal and better decision making. Egan is a gun and will just get better. Milburn - the spare parts player every club needs. Stokes - from the few glimpses he looks like a find. Lingy - the sunburnt rooster (has lifted when the games need winning).

Not > Frank Spencer - get the beret back on frank and leave skilled immediately. Mark Blake - might develop however right now he needs to go away and learn his craft in the two's. Nathan - hurts me to say but I think he's bit off what we are hoping. Not in our best 22 if Hank Playfair - Ottens - S.Johnson come back

Interested in any other thoughts.

In a female sense:

Hot: Cameron Mooney and Matty Scarlett

Not: Joel Corey when he's bearded, Cameron Ling (love the guy, just don't LOVE the guy)

Oh, you mean in footy terms...

Hot: Cameron Mooney and Matty Scarlett, Egan in a big way, Prismall (I think he's going to shape up really well) and Lonergan

Not: Charlie.

Lukewarm: Nate, Kane, little Byrnesy.

That's kind of the ones that jump to mind. Thought Egan did a great job against Pavlich and took some great grabs, particularly in the second half. Prismall showed some flair and Lonergan has been pretty good.

Charlie is a Neanderthal.

Got to be close, he's all class. Only things stopping him are Corey, Ling, Enright, Kelly, Bartel, Chapman and Ablett, at the moment, these guys are our top 7 midfielders, all are very good and it leaves little room for anyone else. Prismall will have to displace one of these guys as he's in the same tough mould as them, he doesn't have the pace of someone like Tenace to take his spot. I think he'll probably play around 8-10 games throughout the year unless we have as many injuries as last year.

Wojcinski, Riccardi and Steve Johnson will probably all be unavailable still round 1 so he would be considered strongly for the 22 v. Brisbane.

Not > Frank Spencer - get the beret back on frank and leave skilled immediately.

I thought he picked up his game against Freo. Clearly has awhile to go yet, but did some nice things down back on McPharlin. That being said, I'm not sure whether we count this performance as a good one, simply because of the probability that, had the Dockers actually used McPharlin in any other role than as the decoy he played for Pavlich on Sat night, the differing results would have been telling.

I suspect he'll retain his spot in the side regardless, and in one sense he deserves a lengthier run to prove his worth after last season. He'd be wanting to pick things up alot faster though; time is running out for him.

Mark Blake - might develop however right now he needs to go away and learn his craft in the two's.

And I suspect he'll do just that when both King and Ottens return. However, until that day/round comes, the coaching staff will/should continue to feed him the invaluable experience of playing against the top ruckmen in the league.

I think the foundation is there for him. Has shown, albeit in bits, more than handy tap work in ball-up situations, and his ability to read the play and get around the ground is particularly impressive, at least for a boy his size. If he can concentrate on the ball more often than his man, he'll be onto something good.

You guys don't have a f#*kin clue what your talking about. Played 3 games of NAB and your asking him to leave skilled!!! Good to see you supporting the young kids in the team!!!

Did a good job on Sat night keeping McPharlin quiet. Give the guy a chance!! Is yet to actually play a game of AFL remember.

As for the person saying that Lonergan is hot!!! What games have you been watching???

Egan, Tenace, Prismall are all travelling along very nicely so far.

Lonergan, Gardiner have been disappointing, although they can be forgiven to a certain degree as they are flankers playing as kp.

Hot: Matthew Egan
Darren Milburn
Joel Corey
Corey Enright

Lukewarm (still has work to do): Kane Tenace
Shannon Byrnes
Brent Prismall
Tom Lonergan

Not: Charlie Gardiner
Nathan Ablett (very dubious decision but I exepcted better)

Yep Definately put Sladey into the HOT! Both Hot in looks and game play! ;)

My HOT list:
-Sladey, his shown courage, determination and seems to be lifting a fair bit. He obviously wants to get into the snr team. His trying so hard and I hope so much that he can somehow break into the snr team during the "real" season.
-Prismall, reminds of a younger Will Slade LOL. This guy has talent! HE ROCKS!
-The Corey's (Joel and Enright), these to have so much to offer geelong. They make a huge difference to the team.
-CameronMooney, Scarlo

My hot/cold list:
-Shannon Byrnes his shown glimpses of awesomeness but done some stupid things too.
-Kingsley is SOOOOOOOO Hot and Cold it's crazy! He was on fire when he kicked 9 goals that game! Hope he can do it agian!
-Tenace, his shown glimpses of goodness but not quite there yet.

My COLD List: Gosh this is an easy list at the moment! LOL
I know it's only pre-season but these players are ********ing me off at the moment!!!
-Charlie Gardiner, he stuffs up way to much for my likeing. Sorry dude!
-Tom Lonergan, I feel a bit sorry for this dude. I'm not sure where his heading.
-James Kelly, WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM! His kicks have been pretty poor in the last few games. I really hope this isn't going to continue into the "real" season! His usually such a great player. Maybe it's just me being to rough or something, he was listed inthe 'best' list for Geelong this week. Strange.

I prefer British type comedy - I've only seen Seinfeld once as well.

Monty sounds fine. I dropped into the habit of calling him Big Shannon after a commentator did last year - some opposition player was writhing on the ground in pain and Shannon was standing over him and the commentator said "I don't think Big Shannon's the culprit". The blokes that sit behind us at Skilled call him the Midget. Either way he is a cutie.

Nah, im gonna stick with Monty. It's cute, like he is!

Please, please give The Simpsons (cira 96-2000) a try and Seinfeld as well. Seinfeld is brilliant. But yeah i agree with ya on British comedies. The Young Ones and Fawlty Towers, also examples of brilliance!

Actually theres an ep starting right now on 10 :thumbsu: It's the Halloween one where they send up "The Shinning".. my favourite!!

For Montgomery that would be moribund, while for Shannon it would be absolutely, breathtakingly flat knacker.

Also an honorable mention to Chapman. He's good looking, but bald, so soz.. didnt make the list!!

In Looks & In order according to 21yo female.
HOT:
1. Jimmy Bartel :p
2. Josh Hunt
3. Slade/Harley/Chappy (but way way below jimmy & josh)
4. Koula in a greekish sleazy kind of way

NOT:
No one I love them all.
All the ones that arn't the best to look at are the friendliest and funniest guys you can meet so it cancels out in my books!

In terms of play
HOT
Corey, Enright, Bartel, Scarlo, Chappy, Hunt, Kelly, Like Playfair when he is on fire and ditto for SJ
NOT
Gardiner, Blake, Spencer, Byrnes, Lonergan (but i think he shows promise so I'd give him a chance to grow into a better player)

Don't know what it is about Scarlo, I think it's the dark brooding thing and the fact he just refuses to talk to the media most of the time... as a journalist I find that strangely appealing. He's also born the same day as me (June 5) only a year earlier. He's totally not your standard Gemini. Would've thought he was a Scorpio or something like that.

Koulagirl, I think Koula's cute too. If Spriggs was still around, I'd be insisting on a top 10 photo shoot sans shorts. Ahhhh... what a thought!

BTW, in case anyone's thinking I'm a creepy bloke, I'm not. I'm a 25-year-old female!
