Thought you were talking about the team, 3 weeks in a row now, looking not that much until the last 10 minutes or so.

LOL That rhymes D0nk.
Anyways...

Yes very true, the cats have turned it on in the final 1/4 of all the games this pre-season. This isn't a habit i would like to see them fall into beacuse if we loose the other team early on in the game then we might not catch up. (Sorry, not sure if that makes any sence). We seem to be doing just enough to win the games and not a whole lot more. Thats ok for pre-season but when the real thing comes along I hope all 4 quarters are blitzzzzzzzzed. LOL Actually I hope they can blitz all 4 quaters this week! IT'S THE GRANDFINAL!!! YAY! :):):):):)

Yeah I'd say the team have had fantasic last quarters so far. Joey Coreys was exceptional on the w/e too. But agreed, i think we need more consistant effort wen round one comes

I did mention to a mate before the start of the game that if we were just in front or close at three quarter time, I liked our chances of running over the top of them. All three games so far it's as if we've just said "alright, games up for grabs, lets win it" and just gone up a cog. Good teams can do that and the fact that we have done it with the side we've had in is even better.
Adelaide will be a good test and I'd say they'll be closer to full strength than us but I still like our chances.

I think the main reason why we've been so good in last quarters is the fact that we've put our best in for the last quarter. Look at all the games so far, we've had young guys making up the majority of the midfield for the first 3 quarters, but when the chance to win comes up, Bomber puts in Corey, Enright, Ling and co to take the match. It's simply a case of putting in the better players when we need to, the first 3 quarters are just for giving the young guys a run.

The Roos game was a perfect example of this, for the majority of the 2nd and 3rd quarters, our midfield consisted of Byrnes, Prismall, Batchelor and Stokes, but when the final quarter came round, the big guns came in.

I thought Dasher was far better in the last quarter.

I am talking in general not just that game. He had about 5+ games last year where he was amazing in the last quarter.

Scotty - where are you getting replays from? Provided you're still in Boston, of course. The AFL video has been slow as buggery and was wondering where you'd been getting video.

try using net transport (http://www.xi-soft.com/default.htm) to actually "grab" the WMV files off the AFL website. Iif you right click on the video window, choose properties and paste that path into net transporter it will figure it out and download the file. It usually takes less than three hours once the file is available. They are 700-900mb files even though one game is only like 3-400mb as the stupid gits rip fox footy replays so you get programs before and after the game.

www.aussietorrents.com is also a GREAT site. The programs here are of better quality but usually come to late for me as I am so impatient. Love the site though. :)

An idea. DO NOT watch the afl.com wmv files on your PC they look ********. Buy a s-video cable and pump them out on your TV, I watch mine on a 32" widescreen HDTV and they really do look fine. Not 100% of course but it really doesnt annoy me to much which i thought it would. On my 19" LCD monitor though it looks ********ED.

Yeah I agree, great site :thumbsu:
It's great for archiving games - I hope to get all of Geelongs games this year. If Geelong manage to win the grand final this year, I want the whole damn season archived :D
Though you'd want to get there early in the week, the Carlton game only has 2 seeds left, whereas Freo has 22 right now.

Spot on WestCat. The flipside to this is that it has been great to see the likes of Tenace, Prismall and Slade have a real crack. They have really showed something but they've also shown that when it comes to the crunch we need the cool, experienced heads to take charge. It's great for our depth and also shows were going to really step it up a few notches when we get our best back out on the park.

Cheers for that. Working on it now, it might take a while, but it'll be worth it to have higher quality. Are you able to rip it without having to login to the AFL video site? I want to avoid paying the subscription again if I possibly can!

Yeah, I guess we'll see. I think I have worked out the secret to the filenames, though, so it might not matter.

That said, I just downloaded the Freo game, and I can't get the file to play (I got it through the Net Transporter thing). I can't figure it out, but do I need some codec for it or something?

It should just be the stock standard WMV file from windows media. I can always tell you the file names each week.

I thought it was. I'll try again tonight, but it wasn't working last night, though the audio seemed to be. It was a bit weird. Have you had any trouble with downloaded files?

Scotty, is the torrent site for you down too?

And no matter what I do, I can't get the damn game to play - I re-downloaded and it still doesn't want to go. I hope that doesn't become a habit :p

Have you got VLC media player? In windows media player it wasn't playing properly for me (it would jump back and forth frames), but I tried out the VLC one and it worked fine for me in that.

Yeah the website isn't working for me either - that's also where I found the link for VLC player, so can't help with where to get that either. It's free, so should be easy enough to find hopefully.
