Bachtelor gone for 6 weeks is a shame for VFL side.

I though Mackie WAS injured?
Johnson, King, Ricco wont play 'til Round 1 i don' think. Rooke and maybe Koula to come in this week. Depends on Nath i guess.....

Just a couple of clarifications....
No Ottens on the list - Coz he isnt injured
Tommy Harley - Was always going to be round 2 or 3
Mackie was in the squad for last week but missed
Koula played last week but was crap.
Tommy Harley doesn't look promising (Thank god for Egan)
The club have said for awhile that Tom probably won't play AFL or VFL until at least Rd2 or 3.Rd 2 or 3 is 4-5 weeks away.

Good to see Wojcinski not on the list. First time in 11 months.
Bomber said on SEN this morning that Varcoe is set for round 1 of the VFL (which coincides with round 2 of the AFL). He was especially looking forward to that as he hasn't seen him play yet. Also stated that both King & Ottens would play this week, but didn't mention who for(AFL/VFL).

God I hope neither King or Ottens play this week against Adelaide. If either do, all it proves is that we have learnt nought about injury management.

Just back from training, and he wasn't doing anything, but hopefully this is correct.

I think they have been in cotton wool long enough. Round 1 is only two weeks away! If there fit, give them some match fitness, either be in the VFL or AFL.
What about Playfair? Didn't he play in the VFL last week - any chance he'll go to Adelaide?

Comming back from a groin injury and a finger injury, both unrelated I think.
Watched training early Jan and he looked as fit as ever.
Spent the majority of the session doing run throughs (running 100 or so metres at around the same pace over and over again) and joined in for the stationary skills.
Would have run about 15 - 20km's easily that day so miles in the legs aren't a drama.
It's just match fitness that he needs, same as Kingy, H and Dog.
Can't just give these sorts of blokes a quarter or a half of footy in the VFL and expect them to run out four quarters in a fortnights time against the Lions, it just doesn't happen. All will play footy this weekend and may have another run next weekend in the VFL just to try and find touch.

hate to say it but ottens holds so much of ur future in his hands imo. if fit he is a star that could take u to the next level and that elusive premiership cup

Not sure about that. Otto is definately a boost for Geelong when he is fit and plays although like Mark Thompson says Geelong isn't a one star show. We can win games without him he doesn't hold Geelong's future in his hands. I mean it's always helpful to have in around coz he adds a lot to the game but I don't think he is essential to have for us to win a premiership... although it would help. lol

Koula played last week but was crap.
He wasn't crap - he spent the second half and about half the second quarter (plus half of the first) on the bench due to sustaining said injury.

My only concern is for Harls, but given Egan's impressive form even that doesn't bother me too much. Get him 100% and let Matty handle CHB in the meantime. Otherwise we're looking to good to have a pretty full-strength 22 come Round 1. Exciting stuff.

I'm coming around with Ottens. Word is he trained strongly yesterday so he probably should be considered. Couldn't do worse than plonking him in the goalsquare and having him relieve Blake. King should play in the VFL though.
