You traded away your chance to draft Hodge, Ball or Judd for Trent Croad whom you overpaid for 2 years, then traded him back to Hawthorn for much less and now he's All Australian. That's up there with your McLeod, Bell, Farmer, Mann, Bond deals.
You will always be ignored. The city of Perth doesn't care about you. The rest of Australia doesn't even know you exist!
Pavlich is the best footballer who'll ever wear purple and he will leave your club once his contract is up. Guaranteed.

Brisbane were for a long time.
Maybe from 1987 - 1994 (8 years).
Missed the finals twice from 1995-2005 (1998 and 2005). During that decade Brisbane made the prelim finals 6 times, grand final 4 times, and were premiers 3 times.
Fremantle have been in the comp 11 years. By that stage, Brisbane had already made the prelims twice and the finals 4 times.
Fremantle: 1 final 0 wins.
This is a team from a aussie rules dominated state as well.

Every club is guilty of poor recruitment decisions, for some reason Fremantle's is the most scrutinised on these boards thanks to some obsessed eagle fan (total package) in depth anlysis of the history of someone elses club!
If the Fabian Francis Fiasco is all you can hang your hat on with Schwabb, then you are mislead, because he and the club were brutally shafted by the AFL in that deal, (potential salary cap breach), and then he had a career ending knee injury.
Connolly has used the 5 year (I don't know where you got the 3 from) plan as a method of coaching, a quote also attributed to other coaches, including Ron Barassi, he is not talking out of school there, you can have a rant if Freo fail to make the finals this season.

When Connoly got the job he outlined his 3 year plan.
Connolly's 3 year plan
Year 1: establish a winning culture at home - which they did 1st year, but have failed to re-create.
Year 2: continue the winning trend at home, and win a few away games
Year 3: Win all home games, win enough away game to make the finals, and win one.
He also said they would win the premiership by the 5th year. So a lot of expectation this season...

Following the re-signings of key players Matthew Pavlich, Paul Hasleby and Justin Longmuir, and the acquisition of talented young midfielder Des Headland, to have Chris Connolly in charge of the team until 2005, aligned with the 2003-2005 Strategic Plan, is another substantial and positive step towards the club achieving its objectives.

The aim of the Coaches is to get there team into the finals so they can have a crack at a premierships. If they don't manage this on a consistant basis they ineviatably get the sack

Fremantle DID make the finals within 3 years, however, they were not ready yet as a team to perform, got belted and have had a slow recovery from that shellacking. You seem hell bent on dis-crediting everything Connolly, Smart, Schwabb and probably anyone associated with Fremantle has to say, ignoring the fact that the club was in BIG trouble and has dragged itself out of debt and increased membership, despite limited on field success. What i'm getting at is it was a 3 year plan, not a 5 year plan as you claim, and i proved that.
I understand Freo have turned around their cash flow and membership but i attribute that more to Freo surprising everyone with their first finals appearance, so everyone jumped on board, expecting future success, and then they were let down the following two years, and connolly is partly to blame for that.
I didn't discredit anything Schwab or Smart said, i simply outlined one is a bad CEO and the other a really bad recruiter.

If you're right about a 3 year plan, then Connolly succeeded (made the finals in his second year) two years after a wooden spoon for the club. That would make it a good achievement. Since then, things have not gone according to plan, however, I'm certain his long range goal was to be competitive in finals in 5 years
You have ragged out on Schwab and Smart for no apparent reason, I suggest you research every club's recruiting history (or just your own), purely to compare with Fremantle's which you seem to know a shipload about.

Connolly did not say he will win a flag or a final in 3 years.
that History of the dockers website that has been quoted painfully enough clearly says it all when it comes to your recruiting.
No other club could compare to those bad decisions.
and for no apparent reason? I'm just keeping with the spirit of the thread. I'm here for you to quote at seasons end, you should be looking forward to proving me wrong.

couldn't care less whether the media/public like the eagles or not. I'm not even talking about the eagles at all. I actually like Freo, they're one of my favourite teams, i just get pist off with their fans who every year pump themselves up at the start of the year, then at the end their making excuses, blaming everyone else for their season.
That's the same for most clubs, including yours.

Because no other total_whatever could be bothered or is near enough obsessed with any other club to go through that process!

i'm more than happy to take criticism of the eagles. I usually laugh it off, but you freo mob are intense, need to be able to laugh it off a bit more.

How so? A ship with no anchor will eventually come to grief.
I've worked on the ocean for 30 years and have a bit of experience when it comes to anchors. Amazingly enough every time I chuck one over the side it goes straight to the bottom. An anchors job is to hold you to the bottom so you dont move. You would be flat out finding a worse symbol for a footy club.

I have laughed most of the posts in this thread off, because, well, you know, it's humourous. Your attempt at Freo bashing was un-funny and un-founded.

unfunny thats fair enough. but unfounded, this started with me criticising your use of an anchor on your jumper. You can not honestly believe an anchor is a good symbol for a sports team trying to make it to the top.
on a brighter note all the AFL captains are passing the torch to one another on the commonwealth games.

Yeah i'm watching that too. That platform looks very slippery. Can just see someone falling and doing a cruciate or something.

Completely of topic but is it un-Australian to hope she fails miserably? Harder to back than Lleyton Hewitt.
