With lotsa young talent, and national selectors biased toward nsw, qld and wa players, it is seems logical that a young south australian lineup is going to dominate the domestic season over the coming years. Ferguson, Tait, Cullen, Bailey, Harris, Cosgrove, Rofe, Cleary, Borgas, plus throw in a few senior players - Elliot, Blewett, Lehmann, Gillespie, Deitz etc, if they all click on any given day, they could destroy any attack on offer from the national comp/s - esp if mick lewis is playing haha.

Fantastic post, Excellent logic. Im glad im not the only one who can see the potential in the redbacks. I cant see any major threat coming from amnyweher else, maybe WA, NSW at full strength, but Victoria w/out warne, and tassy/qld don't stand a chance.

Thing is we are only without Warne for the first half of the year :)

South Australia still lack consistency

Ferguson doesnt go on with it, the others dont make runs untill the season is practically over, Boof is getting older and Cossie I will wait untill next year before passing judgement

SA will need to see some consistency before they can claim a period of dominance

Fact is SA have shown a lot yet didnt make the final and practically stalled at the end of the season

You know SA isnt quite right yet when everyone bags a players selection and he makes a hundred :p

And yeah you're right (2nd time in a week  ) - SA could dominate if Ferguson starts making bigger scores more often and the other 4 batsmen make runs more than twice a season, but we've still got a couple of craters in the lineup

Ferguson- Inconsistent
Tait- Should be on international duties
Cullen- International duties most likely over the coming years
Bailey- Wont be on international duties, havent seen enough to comment
Harris- What did this guy do before he scored some runs in a ING match?
Cosgrove- Should be on international duties
Rofe- Wont even make the 2nd XI for the one dayers, alright bowler in Pura
Cleary- Inconsistent, gets hit way too easily
Borgas- Shown something in the Pura, nothing in ING, cracks under pressure in ING from what i have seen
Elliot- Injuries killed him this year, when he is playing is average
Blewett- washed up
Lehmann- Will retire in the coming years
Gillespie- Cant get that yard of pace back will struggle as he gets older
Deitz- Not good enough, didnt do jack ******** until the last game

As you can see the standouts will be on international duties while you are left with an average team

Look at WA

1. Rodgers (3000 runs in past 4 years)
2. Langer/ Heron (will be a very good stable player)
3. Marsh (will be a superstar)
4. North
5. Voges
6. Bandy
7. Ronchi (next gilchrist(
8. Casson (will be a good spinner)
9. Dorey (Good First Class bowler)
10. Maggoffin (has improved a lot since coaching from Moody)
11. Edmondson (Fast and will learn a lot at AIS)

What about them? They just became the first interstate side in 15 years to lose outright at the Junktion :p and the first team from WA to lose in 50 years at the Junktion :D

That silly saying that because we all know that the selectors are biased against SA players!!! This thread was for the years before the older blokes retire, and as Kasprowicz and Bichel have shown, it is still possible to be a class bowler as you get older. A champ like Blewtt is not washed up, you can lose form but not class. Deitz maybe you could be right about, but has been showing something since last game of last season, and as for elliot well you really are ignorant, he has set all kinds of records for Victoria, and could have been a star on the international scene before that knee injury when he collided with Mark Waugh. And by the way Paul Rofe would make our second XI team, if not our first if he offered something with the bat like Cleary does, he is a class bowler.

By most people's reckoning no century in two years on these flat wickets is washed up. Tait willl be a key australian player as will one of Cullen or Bailey. Ferguson and Cosgrove will als play for australia.
