With the Israeli retaliation over the last couple of days to the Palestinian suicide bombings which have recently occurred in Israel and Ariel Sharon's tough words towards Yasser Arafat, have we seen the beginning of a new war in the Middle East?
George Bush has responded by justifying Israel's actions and freezing assets of a charity organisation which was filtering money to Hamas.
Hopefully, some sanity can be restored from both sides of this conflict before any further escalations occur, otherwise we may see a war could have the potential to make the current War against Terror look small in comparison.

The current conflict in israel is far more serious than what is going on in afghanistan.
It could escalate into a world war i just hope it can be resolved very quickly but knowing the history between the israeli's and palestine's i think it will get much much worse, it wont be long and i hope im so wrong before some one drops a nuclear bomb, man seems hell bent on destroying each other and in that process he will destroy the planet.
If some one drops a bomb it will have wide reaching implications on us all, not only will it kill possibly millions of people but the world economic markets will collapse.
Its not our role to take sides and hope one side destroy's the other that makes us no better than the aggressors.
And just because we are so far away doesnt mean it will not effect us.
Im at the belief that mankind is slowly destroying himself its only just a matter of time, may god help us all.
George Bush's justification of the attacks is gonna cause a lot of trouble....
He should either make a serious attempt at peace negotiations or allow the UN to step in

Next thing you know america will be 'freezing' the IRA's assets and bombing Dublin.
But seriously though is there a definition of 'World War' ? How close are we to it ?

One day we will see an outbreak of peace in the middle east, wouldn't that be something.
But seriously, this one could get real ugly. If the US come out and overtly support Israel on this issue the Arab nations will no doubt construe this as an attack on Islam. Those Arab nations who supported the US war against terrorism (Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc) will withdraw from the coalition, leaving the US very isolated.
