OK , not to deminish the result at all but taking the result out of it, did we learn anything from a pressure game of football? It might have been pre-season but there was pressure in that game that will be very similar to big time September footy

Just a couple of obsevations

Byrnes - Shannon , how many times do you have to do no look hand pass and turn it over before you get the hint. Like his 2nd,3rd effort but boy when watching the replay that last goal of his was only mm away from catastrophe. Still not sure on him , at his size he should be on of our best kicks on both sides of his body

Slade – Was he this generious with his elbows and arms the last time he played? Be interesting if he gets sited. He looks like hes still reaquiring the speed of the game but have to say I liked this side to him. Had the feeling hes the type of guy who would do , what had to be done to win. I like it. Be interesting at years end if he plays some good games for us this year.

Hunt - The good and the bad of Hunt in these big games is a worry. What Hunt can giveth he may taketh away and at the most in opportune moment. What a weapon that left foot is. It a given , in space he can is A grade no problem. However Hunt on the last line, not sure I like that. That handball, that setup a goal should have been a right handpass to Salde not a left to Egan

H – Seems bigger, really it’s a shame that he seems to live by his surname, he could be a monster with Hairy Cats aggressive nature. How good was he considering he been lacking game play. VIP for our success this year

Lonergan – He must learn to lay the ball off , hes not what I’d call a tall who is a natural when the ball hits the grass. Not sure how much time he will get unless our bigs go down

Chapman/Ablett – All class, the goal from Chapman the ball craft from Ablett.

Egan – On the way to being a top CHB. Is getting better and better

Prismall – Quick brains is always better than quick legs. Big future I’d say

Tenace – really starting to come into his own. Pletty up, side if he can learn to kick better to his forward he could be one of the best in the league

Corey – the last couple of weeks ,the goals he has kicked have been very important. The time he has kicked them shows he is a big time player. If he can do this more regularly he will get more credit for his hard work and our other on ballers will get an easier ride.

Rooke – Getting better all the time.He is becoming a much better player than I thought he could become.

Blake - Id like to see him in our 22 each week. Rotate, rest King or Ottens whatever, he will be better with games under the belt and he may be need in Sept.

Overall most would have to say that the GF and the Freo games probably gives us credit that weve been deprived of in recent time. Whether that’s important or not is debatable. There should now be no doubt from within or without that we have the right mix to go all the way. With so many good player not in that side , we are cherry ripe I think. No Injurys and finish P1, lets see how Adelaide or who ever like it at the G

I enjoyed the elbows and arms being thrown around a bit, thought it was great.

Hope he doesn't get sited, the guy wasn't hurt.

I don't think Will would even consider having to do whatever has to be done as in hit someone so they can't play!
After ALL the hell he has been through with injuries I don't think he would want to jepadise (can't spell sorry) any games for him to play. His gonna make us proud this year i think!

I hope he doesn't get reported!!! :(

He ROCKS! :):thumbsu::):thumbsu::)

I agree partially with this. Burns is going to be our next Riccardi. Once he gets on top of his kicking and doesn't get so excited/nervous/panicky etc he'll be ripe.

Slade – Was he this generious with his elbows and arms the last time he played? I'm really impressed with Slade's comeback. Hope he keeps on kicking with NO injuries. He'll get his pace up and be a keeper.

Hunt - The good and the bad of Hunt in these big games is a worry. What Hunt can giveth he may taketh away and at the most in opportune moment. What a weapon that left foot is. I LOVE Hunt! There's not one player that doesn't ever stuff up in a game. It's just unforunate that if he or any defender does it results in a possible score against us. He's got a major responsibility of kicking in (most of the time) and he rarely stuffs up. He is a mighty asset.

H – Seems bigger, really it’s a shame that he seems to live by his surname, he could be a monster with Hairy Cats aggressive nature. How good was he considering he been lacking game play. VIP for our success this year

Yeh, have to completely agree here. Needs some work still.

Lonergan – He must learn to lay the ball off , hes not what I’d call a tall who is a natural when the ball hits the grass. Not sure how much time he will get unless our bigs go down

Impressive starter but still needs many more games. Needs to get some glue on those hands to the ball.

Chapman/Ablett – All class, the goal from Chapman the ball craft from Ablett.

Said brilliantly, love them to death. They work together so well. I think Gaz & Nugget have some sort of freakish connection. Chappy is so under rated.

Egan – On the way to being a top CHB. Is getting better and better

AGREE! He is fab. Very very impressed. Tom may have him nipping at his heals!

Prismall – Quick brains is always better than quick legs. Big future I’d say
Hmm, signs are good but nothing outstanding just yet.

Tenace – really starting to come into his own. Pletty up, side if he can learn to kick better to his forward he could be one of the best in the league

Like his speed but still needs a bit of work on the rest of his skills.

Corey – the last couple of weeks ,the goals he has kicked have been very important. The time he has kicked them shows he is a big time player. If he can do this more regularly he will get more credit for his hard work and our other on ballers will get an easier ride.

Corey is on song for a Brownlow, it maybe a few years away but he's gotta be up there. SO SO SO much potential for greatness!

Rooke – Getting better all the time.He is becoming a much better player than I thought he could become.

Major tough nut. We're starting to sort out the men from the boys!

Blake - Id like to see him in our 22 each week. Rotate, rest King or Ottens whatever, he will be better with games under the belt and he may be need in Sept.

I need to see more of him. Sad to say though when King and Otty get back in the side he'll be out in the 2nd's till another King/Otty injury.

All in all, I'm very impressed with our young blood and the strength we currently have. Finals Footy, here WE COME!!! GO CATS!!!

I thought H did about all he could on the time he was on the ground. Also he has been working on become a better player and hasnt really been good enough to have an attidude to boot. Lets wait and see what confidence will bring...

Agree on Byrnes, still quite worried about his smarts and finesse.

Gardiner troubles me immensely. His soft efforts in marking contests just rile me. This was driven home even more once H came on and showed how it should be done. Lonergan just has zero presence. As a key forward he's just not strong enough in the contest. If he's a flanker he just doesn't get enough of it. I can see much VFL time for 16, 13 and 17.

If Slade gets cited, the Adelaide player who got Gaz will too. I don't think either will or if they do it will be under the points threshold for a suspension.

Egan is superb. Imagine where we'd be now without him - Spencer and Mooney probably having to hold down CHB. He's come along so quickly and I just hope he is able to keep it going throughout the year.

I really like the look of Prismall. He just looks really composed and comfortable at this level. Nothing he has done has been outstanding but for some reason I'm really confident he's going to make it.

Corey is now officially my favourite player. Nine pointers two weeks in a row. He should have the confidence to drift forward more often now and be a more damaging player.

I think Slade will go, pretty reckless. Can't say Im bothered by it though, he is rookie listed so wouldn't be playing seniors anyway.

OK - "Old Fat B*st*rd Whinge Time" (OFBWT (c)) - what happened to Gary Jnr is very similar to what Gary Snr did to Kirsten Bardsley many moons ago and he got 5 or 6 weeks for it. Quite simply, if you put the arm out to fend off and your forearm does connect to the face or an opponent then it should be more than just a free kick. Gary Jnr was hurt. Obviously, there was no blood as in the KB/GA Snr incident but both times the player's intention was to push off an opponent but the action was reckless and negligent and put the opponent at risk. I don't think it deserves 5 or so weeks but neither do I believe it should be ignored. Perhaps some sort of warning or reprimand?

Reckless, low impact, in play, high contact = how many points?

= how many games with a reduction for good record and guilty plea?

No doubt it will be looked at and assessed against each criteria. If there are enough points he'll be cited.

Slade's was reckless. If the tribunal are serious, he'll get his share on the sidelines. GAJ's incident, as Chris alluded to, wasn't in the same books - worth a free, nothing more.

Anne got say , the diference between Byrnes and Riccardi is Talent and Skill. Skill is the honing of the talent you have been given. Riccardi has enormous talent with his feet, not only accurate but has feel, can place the ball into space for someone to run on to, over the top of opponents.Think Travis Johnston.Think Josh Hunt. Byrnes may try to work as hard as he can but I dont think he has Riccardi's talent and never will have. Its why I look forward to Varcoe playing. Can Shannon improve yes, will he? I dont know why but left footers always seem so one sided and lack the ability to bring the other foot into play and he is not the best with his prefered left foot. I think the commentators said he kicked several more points than goals. On the run, 30
out he should get 3 out 4.
