Leadership group announced today. Captain Bell continues, with Pav as #1 Deputy... then an extended leadership group of Hase, JCarr, MCarr as per last year. McPharlin appears to have dropped out, while JLo, Jimmy Walker and The Wiz have been elevated. Congrats to those three guys.... :thumbsu: but 9 in the leadership group does seem rather excessive...

I am particularly happy to see Our Jeffrey and Grandson rewarded for their efforts for this club. :)

I was given to understand that they are elected by the playing group.

BTW, Desktop George has already informed me of Bellie & Pav's re appointment. :)

He told me he had 3 Sandover Medal votes.

I was wrong - there are actually 11.... Old Man Parks and McPharlap get a gig too.

So that means, if they are all named to play (and we assume they will all play when uninjured), that HALF the 22 are the "leaders".... I'm all for developing leadership qualities and having guys on the ground capable of standing up when needed.... but surely 11/22 - even 11/44 - is rather a lot....

Perhaps the thinking is that there are the two "official leaders", with the rest of them to provide leadership / guidance / "mentoring" to the younger, less experienced guys.

It's a tried and true system where you get to buddy up, and hold hands as you cross the road, or run though the banner.

To be honest it's all a bit of a laugh. No doubt leadership is important and Bell is our man ably supported by senior players. Pav is next in line. Tell us something we didn't know.

OK. Ummm... I can't count. It appears there are 10. Not 9. Not 11. 10. Oops. ;)

Sandilands can feel unlucky to have missed out I would have thought! He's in a position where he has to direct players around him and commands their respect, even though he is still developing as a player and he has come a long way in a very short time. He led the side out against that other team in the London game. I can't see any games this year where like in seasons gone past they might have gone into a game with just 1 ruckman.

I'm happy to see James in there, but I can't say the same for Jeffery. He is undisciplined- I fail to see any leadership qualities in him.

Yep Jeff is human and at times has brain fades, but you must admit he has become alot more focussed and controlled over the last 2 - 3 seasons. He leads by example doing alot of the one percenters, and if I was Elvis or Pav, he'd be great to have by your side.

Jeff has earnt this "pat" on the back.

The number is abit silly but if it helps us to get to the finals every player can be in the group!

I'm bit of a traditionalist, Capt, V.Capt and if you want a Deputy V.Capt. Beyond that its all too much like management psycho-babble for me.

The touch wood comment was a bit line ball anyway. But you could try asking your husband.

Well I did think that... but I'm still not sure about the "no injuries" part.... although I think it's starting to make more sense as I type. ;)
