Well done CA. Lets not give it to the guy who breaks the record for most tons in a season and finishes with an average of 85.37. Most runs, highest strike rate, etc.

Bravo.

That's what you get when a player such as Jacques plays in a side where the team generally has players of high standard, whereas SA in the ING Cup was very reliant on Lehmann and Cosgrove, and hence they both tied on 26 votes. Cosgrove won due to more 3 vote games.

Ahh didn't realise it was 3-2-1 system. Thought it was like the AB Medal where they just seem to choose someone.

Agree with the Jaques comment, think he scored a record amount of ING hundreds.
What about the Tassie guy Griffith not even polling high in the Pura Cup voting! Plays half the season on a batting paradise and takes the most wickets. Shows the inner circle is alive and well in Aussie cricket!

He is lucky to be up there FFS! Cossie and Jaques were the standout players! Hussey only scored 1 hundred! So he did the same as Greg Blewett in other words!

Sorry mate, Adelaide OVal is the best in the World and I don't even live in Adelaide. (I was born there ;))

MArk Cosgrove had a very very good, this guy has no credibilty, he is just bias. Phil Jaques had an excellent all round year, David Hussey played some good One day cricket, Shaun Tait only played a couple of games (DO SOME ********ING RESEARCH MATE!) Yes it was a 3-2-1 system, but there is no ********ing way it was 3-2-1 every game, as there is no way Hussey would have polled in 9 out of 10 games and no chance 2 players in 1 team could end up with 26 votes each

Let's just take a look at the numbers:

Phil Jaques scored 683 runs at 85.37, including 4 centuries.

Mark Cosgrove scored 591 runs at 73.87, including 2 centuries.

I think it's pretty clear that Jaques was better-performed.

It's not like the Brownlow Medal where there's complete ambiguity. The numbers tell the real story.

Jaques smashed two ODD batting records, but apparently wasn't the best-performed batsman of the season.

CA screws up yet again.

Laughable.

It looks flatter than normal, but that could be due to the weather. It has been quite humid up here, so it is touch and go. There will be movement early but its unlikely to last long. There seems to be less grass on this pitch than usual. Is that doctoring- NO. Just like the Juunction Highway it is very hard to produce pitches where atmospheric conditions dictate how the pitches come up. The GABBA produces results but it is going to rain for 2 days, so there will be life in the pitch after the rain. A result is still possible.

Check the stats, CQ- all states have roughly the same % of drawn matches in recent years (I produced the stats earlier...so you go search 'em up...). Fact is, the Gabba is the best wicket in Oz, with adelaide a close second and the others trailing badly....

If you lose a full days play then the reserve day is used, we wont be only playing 2 days

BTW so if you are predicting lots of rain I guess you admit it rains alot more in Brisbane than Melbourne? Showers in Melbourne would usually mean a max of 5 overs lost in a day
