My Aussie half and I went and saw Ben last night in a small theatre - was a nice intimate venue. Terrific, fiery show. Unfortunately one of the opening acts was absolutely dreadful, but some measure of justice was served when they got booed at the end.
Ben performed a set of all solo material with his band, then did a mostly-piano encore of Five stuff. Brought the band back out for a "Song For the Dumped" finale, in which he jumped on the drums at the end and played a solo, while the drummer got on the piano and did the "stool toss".
After the show we hung around with a small group outside in the cold, near a side entrance. Ben had wandered out, and a few people had quietly gone up to him - we didn't notice right away because nobody yelled or screamed or anything. It was just a nice, quiet gathering of fans. He had a casual chat with everyone for awhile and was nice enough to pose for pictures with us. We asked him a couple of questions about Australia - said he was very fond of the place but warned if I moved there that "everyone will make fun of you" (too late :) ) and that he will be playing shows in April there.
