View Full Version : The New Star of 2002?
who will it be???
in 2000 Roger James was the most improved player in the squad. Last season it was Josh Carr who added another level to his game and became a great player.
Who do you think will take their game to another level in 2002??
Im tipping Brent GUerra to star next season with Toby Thurstans to be the clubs best first year player
Hopefully it's Stewart Dew, I would to see him run out a full game instead of comming on and off the bench the whole game.
It would be great to see him playing a major role in the midfield, especially because of his disposal which would aid our foward line greatly.

I'm hoping Brendon Lade can have a full season and show everyone how damned good he is. It would be good to see Chad Cornes take the sort of step up that Warren Tredrea did this season, and I reckon the younger Cornes could cement a spot in the side.

time for Tredrea to kick 100 I reckon
Had a very good 99
Fell away badly in 00
Recovered his form somewhat in 01
so now its time to stand and deliver.
go Tredders

Lade will surprise people if he doesn't get injured. I'd love for Stuart Dew to have a consistently good season, play all year like his first 8 games.
Of the rookies, probably Kane Cornes or Dom Cassisi would be safer bets. Michael Stevens might surprise me, and Allan Murray could be another good wildcard.

Kicking a ton may be a bit much to hope for, but I've said before that Warren Tredrea will leapfrog Chris Grant to challenge Wayne Carey as the top CHF in the AFL. I reckon he's eclipsed Grant now and Carey is on the decline. Perhaps Jonathon Brown from the Bears is a challenger to Warren's All Australian crown - go Tredders!

Brown certainly is. He might struggle a bit this year under increased attention though.
Lade is the one I most look forward to seeing out there. I still remember that he was our no.1 ruckman when we made the finals in 99, just one year with both him and Primus would be good to watch.
But if we can develop another player on Flash's old wing I'll be happy. That would be the position most up for grabs right now. The real 'oppurtunity' of 2002 for the kids.

I keep hearing that Lade is jumping out of his skin to get back on the field...good to see hie's kept positive.

I was at the Geelong game in the Ansett Cup this year when Ladey broke his leg again. Terrible. He was brilliant up until that point. Can't wait to get him back.

Thurstans is the player the Power should blood in 2002 to take over eventually from Mead/Paxman & is my pick for best 1st year player.
Kane Cornes or Guerra for most improved.
PS Tredrea, J Brown & Whitnall are currently evenly matched to be the dominant CHF of the next decade.

Barring injury, it'll be Brown. He hits people.
