You should have heard the Geelong coach carying on before the match. Laughable really. He said we were bulys of the Cats, and we have a good record at Kardinia Pk as we were bullys.

Weak stuff.

Ottens goals.

Homer Jnr
1 Apr 2006, 13:40
Notting and Corrie need to lift, the game is suited to one of them turning it on, but neither want to put their head over the footy and are putting in disgracefully soft efforts.

If Matthews is the fire and brimstone coach that only wants tough players, those two boys better get their head over the footy a bit more often in the next 3 quarters.

Did you hear the cheers, when he was going off. reminds me of the Sydney crowd when Nige broke his leg last year.

Some crowds are disgusting. I suppose I shouldn't be surpirsed these guys cheers when Nathan Brown broke his leg.Cheers as well when Hartys face was rearranged.

Also, please make the rule interpretations the same for each team. I am sitting watching this gane with 2 AFL umpires, who don't barrack for us mind you, and they are going ballisitic at the umpires inpterpretations and misses.

Moving it too slowly, giving the Geelong midfield plenty of time to push back. Every contest is a one on two in Geelong's favour. And there's just not enough pressure when Geelong bring it out again.

Forwards are fine its not getting there.
The midfield look slow., not owrking enough.

Brad Scott should never play another game.
Charmo's being run into the ground, need another ruck.

Also marks for us and in the backs are not being paid.

Lethal is a great coach but his words aren't magic spells that make us play like footballers.

Disgusting effort.

This mob need to miss a training session this week and watch some Rugby league state of origin, where they see Queensland teams fight all the way through the match, they see Queensland teams with their backs to wall answering the challenge.

Matthews has cocked up big time having Brad Scott in the team, he is far too slow, Copeland and Selwood are far better options that him. Notting needs to get out of 1st gear, him and Corrie are playing lazy and uninspired football.

Vossy needs to step up his defensive pressure, Fixter needs to wear Ablett much closer, Clark needs to stay forward, he is at see up the field.

We needed a 2nd ruckman, it was painfully obvious.

Braddy is looking solid in defence and Mal Michael is sound. Aside from that, no-one is really standing up and putting themself into the contest. Power and Akermanis come in and out of the game.

22 players need to improve this half or we will end up in a worse position than Richmond. We have the ability to drag this back and create a contest, but we need to show some heart.

Homer Jnr

Next week:

Out: Brad Scott (Past it), Notting (Soft), Corrie (not interested in footy), Drummond (Injured)

In: Selwood, Copeland, Keating, Hooper.

Read my mind.

Notting and Corrie just aren't putting in, it is shameful.

Both are real livewires and could do wonderful things if they went about things the right way, but no player can make the game look easy by bludging, the elite players that look like they are cruising are still going flat-out, both these guys need to realise that.

Unwritten_Law

Who's 'he'?

BTW... Adcock would have been handy too. Particularly in the small defender area that we are sorely getting spanked in.

Might be an idea to play Aker in defence ala 99, move Johnno into the midfield for a while. Whatever we do, we have to try a few things. If we show some heart and are at least trying some things out there, I won't be so upset in an hour.

Chezwick
1 Apr 2006, 14:29
We gotta do something special this quater or we're down for the count as far as I'm concerned. I'm not going to give up just yet, but damn it, they can definately do better than this.

It just seems to me we like to turn the ball over too easily, and Geelong are just too quick and skillful to take advantage of our mistakes

TheBrownDog
1 Apr 2006, 14:29
And sorry Lethal, but one ruckman was a stupid choice.

Homer Jnr
1 Apr 2006, 14:29
Keating and Copeland were omitted were they not? Anyway it doesn't matter much.

Calamitous coaching ********-ups, Brisbane style. Expect to see a few more this season if this week is anything to go by.

Maybe it was a balance thing, hopefully there is some admittance that there were mistakes made at selection. If not, we may have a long season ahead.

We have a very good list, make no mistakes about it, but reputations will be affected by how we tackle this next half.

Chezwick

Charman's kicking for goal has been poor but apart from Bradshaw he'd be your best player. Keating would be handy up forward maybe but you would need to drop Merett or Clark or you would be too heavy.

We are getting schooled by a fast and skilful unit, but they are not better than us by 8 goals in a half.

Thompson is definately managing this mob well, and could get some good results from this list.

I hate to think what would be the 1/2 time score if it wasn't slippery and windy.

Our problems are in the midfield. No onballers and we are getting our asses kicked at ground level.

Black, Akermanis, Power all class but geez it falls away quickly after that with Lappin out and Voss getting on. We have 3 full rotations where we don't lose a hell of a lot in the middle. Very even team.
