Poor coach, extremely poor.
My point is this. John Cahill was a master coach and tactician with a vision for the PAFC, he established the foundation for a great football club with finals being the key objective. The PAFC then buggered Jack off for Choco. Port receive the chokers tag and everyone blames it squarely on Nick Stevens and certain other players having no heart etc etc. The reason port struggled in finals was because Mark Williams was at the helm. The only reason they ended up winning the flag was because of the quality support staff behind him. When you look back at your list it's clear that Port were a better side than their solitary one GF appearance. IMO if Jack had stayed coach then your club would have made 2 GF appearances minimum.
With the support staff in place at Alberton weaker now than they have been in the history of the club (McGuinness, WTF?) Choco will be found out for the fraud of a coach he actually is. Mark Williams has little if any tactical nouse, very little game plan and even less between the ears. Mark Williams managed a great list poorly and managed to snare a GF victory with it to buy himself more time. If a quality coach had been at the helm then Port would have 2 flags to their name by now.
I'm not actually trying to stir the pot here just my honest opinion of the coach of your club, the sooner he gets disgruntled and naffs off to Melbourne to coach Collingwood the better for your club.
Oh, and BRING BACK BUCKY :D

I hate when Crows supporters get on this board. I hate it even more when I agree with them. Port is a shambles and has been for some time. Off-field we were in decline a long time before Choco told Alan Scott he was wrong.

I recall winning a premiership under Mark Williams. The problem is his support coaching staff.

The problem was not bringing through enough players last year and in the past, but that's been and gone now.
We should just let him do his job for at the very least a few weeks before sharpening any knifes though. FFS it's only round one.

Well you couldnt exactly predict Primus,James and Francou's output stopping dead in its tracks nor the defection of Carr and Schofield.
Then take out Hardwick and Pickett, no club can absorb that.
Look at Brisbane you guys appear in the same boat after several years of high performances

Agree with the first part of your post, however the problem associated with our game plan or lack thereof has been a problem for a number of years on and off. The players generally follow the coaches instructions, so what the hell is Choco telling them to do, handpass and kick out toward the wings:confused:
Just needs to go back and watch a tape of a few of Fos's old games, Forget this handball bull******** and kick the bloody thing!

Once the game got out of control we cannot blame the so called new game plan. Our midfielders just weren't good enough no matter what the gameplan may have been. Sometimes that's all there is to it.
Peter Burgoyne kicking it 10m short to White on a lead has nothing to do with gameplan.
There were so many bad passes by foot by so many players, young and old, that it just cannot be explained at this level.
The new tweak in the gameplan seems to be back to 2001 style more than anything else.
Move it fast and get it into our forward line quickly. Good move, however Choco cannot go out there and kick the ball for the players.

On the money.
This maintain possesion stuff and chip chip stuff is rubbish

No it's not. For those who think I'm basing this all on last night, I'm not. Ask finbarr, I've been telling him since before the season that Williams can't coach.
He managed a great list poorly and he's managing a good solid list with some potentially great young kids even worse. The club will be better off without him.

Im going to contact finbarr and if he confirms this I am going to have a beer and drink to your genius.

And what are your marvelous credentials for making such a statement - perhaps you should get back to your own board - I suspect you wanted a lot more responses to your inflamatory comments.

Ok then Douche Bag, how do you rate the intellectual giants such as Robert Shaw and Gary Aryes, and the morons who appointed them. Just imagine if the Crows brains trust kept Cornes on for just one more year. The Crows would have been able to pick up Chad and Kane under the father-son rule. With all the money, supporters and players available to them the Crows should have won half a dozen premierships by now but fortunately they have been grossly mal-adminstrated and coached and are the Bart Simpsons of the league. They are hopeless under acheivers.

""Underachieving"", where were you in 2001-2003??? Not overly bright are we. You can keep Kane and Chad, their attitude and personalities are a better fit down Alberton way..

Where was I in 2001-2003? I was probably doing the same thing then that you were doing on the 4th of September 2005. I hope you're bright enough to work out what I mean by that.

I don't think we really need the heart-felt contributions from Crows supporters - guys, your team looks strong this year. Concentrate on your side doing the right things and let us worry about our ship. Circles turn very quickly in footy, as we are finding out, and it may not take much for our positions to change again.
With regard to coaches, game plans, selections..........there is little doubt that few people would like what Choco is trying to implement at the moment. However, it helps when the players do the right thing by the game plan in trying to execute it properly.
Skill errors, failure to run hard to get to position to help a teammate or provide an option, poor decision making, have all been features of our guys' play for over twelve months now and would sabotage any well-laid plans for any coach.
I can't understand how after so many months of training our skills continue to be so bad - it should have been a huge priority over the preseason after the way turnovers and clagers killed us last year.
Finally, the thing that I get annoyed about most with Choco is that when asked the obvious question about our chippy, slow, sideways play in the second and third terms, he gives the wrong reason for it, everytime.
From the stands, it seemed obvious that it had nothing to do with opponent flooding.
It simply came down to none of our players running hard to create options for teammates and on the rare occasions they did, the guy with the ball did not honour the right option.
Constantly from kick-ins there was not a single lead.
That seems ridiculous considering the new rule re bringing it back quickly, which the Roos exploited so well and we didn't once.
So when Choco gets asked about why the need for such slow movement he should point out the real reason being player laziness, not opposition flooding which is B******t.

Which is why we'll remove the garbage posts that are just trolling or adding absolutely nothing to the subject/s being discussed........it seems a couple of them prefer to have no credibility as they don't have any interest in actually discussing the footy.
