I have been a bit overwhelmed by all the positive media since Friday nights win but I am really curious to see how many memberships the club will get this week on the back of our great win.

I would have thought that all those sitting on the fence would have been desperate to sign up straight away but amazingly I still have a few of my friends who support the club but are not planning on signing on as members.

I just couldn't believe it when I saw them at my local football club today. They had their Bulldogs hats and shirts on but when I asked if they had signed up they said no!

Usually when I find out someone I know supports the Club but isn't a member, I give them a bit of a hard time and leave it at that, but from now on I am just going to challenge them to get on board until they do. I hope everyone else who is in a similar position to me can do the same because we just shouldn't have anyone sitting on the fence. We just have to keep on these so called supporters until they sign up!

I could be wrong but I think this has been part of our problem over the years. I admire your conviction woofgirl and share your passion but I think we have had people buy once off bulldogs memberships to support the club when they dont barrack for us. So every year we spend marketing $'s and effort trying to convince those people to sign up when really they were once off hits. This cycle leads us to chasing memberships every year and not knowing where they are going to come from.

When you combine this with a club that has been poor at maintaining its membership database I think it has been a bit of the recipe for disaster. The club has gotten better with its records/database of membership but this is an area where we have been along way behind the ball, but i do think this is an area we getting on top of this.

What I think we need to do is convert a very high % of so-called supporters into members (they are so-called because basically this club cannot afford passengers, people who are not members do not count). And we really need to grow our base.

How does a club grow its supporter base? Well these are the questions the club has to answer (but perhaps we have some ideas about it - clearly efforts have been made to organise the clubs on and off field operations. On field success is important but clearly not everything.

I thought the Vic Uni promotion was extremely clever idea attempting to grow the membership.
