Dunno know if this is the result we want before playing them.

I haven't seen the game - anything of interest to us to report for our match with them?

I only listened to it on the radio. Sounded like the Dees were pretty poor.

I'd rather they had won too.

didnt see it but i heard it, sounded like carlton were filling up space a lot and carlton were WAY more hard at it and put on the pressure and i guess melbourne just choked a bit, if we play like we did against richmond we should be able to put even more pressure on, although melb will be very hungry to redeem themselves, robbo may be injured, Davey was on fire

The first and third points are food for thought, the second an obvious bonus.

After watching that I would be leaning towards playing a couple of big forwards in our side next week. I think Ferguson and Caroll struggle againt tall opposition. I would consider playing Skip, Wil and Street to facilitate this.

As for weather or not Melbourne won I did not care, it simple we owe them not for Round 21 last year but they have had the wood on us. They did not play with any confidence today at all.

Luckily there are four teams who put in pathetic performances this round and I doubt Melbourne will cop the brunt of the criticism. They didn't lose by much. Freo deserve a good bake for what they served up!

Was as bad as I have seen the dees play for a while.Should be keen to make up for it this week.Said a little about how badly they played in the other thread on next weeks game.

Saw a little of it...being Kouta's 250th game the Blues lifted considerably wanting to win it for the captain with Fev kicking 5 goals for the blues and was also Marc Murphy's first game, he will become a very good player for the Blues. Melbourne seemed to be out of sorts, we should be on guard this Sat, I hate it when we play teams that have come off a loss.

If we were the dogs of old I would be concerned, however, now that we have a very astute coach who has had a full year of coaching us plus the off-season I feel confident that we will not go into the game with any complacency.

We'll cook them. We just have to ensure we go in hard and run even harder. Carlton were prepared to do this tonight and the dees weren't. And our run is much more damaging then carltons. I am pretty confident.

I think the fast flowing early clash at the Dome last year should give more pointers than the nervy tussle at the G.

A years development from the team that narrowly lost after they hammered us early should see us win. But I'm not counting any chickens.

Robbo's abence would be a huge bonus, as would Street and Minson v White instead of Skipper. Not that I would drop Skip but he hopefully won't be required in the ruck.

He came back on and kicked 2 goal near the death.

Melbourne's disposal was atrocious. Coupled with that they had no idea of how to handle Carlton's mass of numbers behind the ball. Just bombed in long to packs.

If they stick to that approach next week, we will flog them.

i agree,

they missed a lot of easy targets from what i saw, and russell robertson was not helping by trying to get the easing tap on or contesting from the back of the pack. Carlton just put two guys in front of him and he wasn't as dangerous. It was messy but carlton to their credit played tough hard footy and came out on top.
I only say glimpses of play and the last quarter but i noticed bruce started well with lots of possesions, but didn't add to them. Was he injured/tired/rested???

I'm confident that if we play the footy we played last week we will destroy melbourne. They aren't in top form and will be under the pump after loosing against carlton. History has shown recently that when melbourne start the season well they have a good year, and when they start poorly, they don't recover. That might also be in their heads, along with other things like membership pressure etc.
