Well as much as i'm asamed to say this, I once barracked for Essendon:o :o .

It was only for a short period from 1989-1993, but i'm still haunted by it 'til this day (my mother was a part of the Essendon cheersquad, so i'll blame it on her for brainwashing me)

Can you forgive me ?.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

1989 - 1993???????

Cripes I had enough problems barracking for the Bears in that period - bloody Carrara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1993 - 1996 Bears at the Gabba

1997 - onwards - the Mighty Brisbane Lions..........................

hmmmmm Wayde on Sept 29th 2001............ At the MCG...............Waving red and black??? or apron stings long forgotten and the gold lion the inspiration for the day???

The Lions you say?????

Then you are forgiven - 10 fold!!!

So you jumped off Essendon after their 1993 flag?

It must be time to jump off the Lions right about now.

You should go and barrack for Richmond, you'd fit in well with their supporters.

'89 and '93 were just about our two best years, in our last decade as a stand alone team! Ma'e, you missed out!

Funnily enough, I was thinking earlier about doing a post on these two years - in comparison to each other!

Okay I have also been a member of another club, Hawthorn.
The reason for me to join them was that my father players footy with jason dunstall when he played for Coorparoo all them years ago now. I was a member from 1997 - 1998 so only two years but two years all the same. I think back now... what the hell was i thinkin about but i had my reasons which made sence to me then.
I gave them the boot when I really thought about what i was doin watchin footy for... which I figured out that I only watch our great game for the footy boys and not the actual game that they are playin. I then realized that I only had one chance a year at the 'gabba to watch them play, and all the telecast games but live is much better viewin quality. So then I started goin to a few more games and came to like the Lions footy boys. So they got me hooked. :p

Well most of my family barrack for Essendon, and the pressure was too great, although I did have a soft spot for Fitzroy because of my uncle and my grandfather (uncle played for Fitzroy under 19's and reserves in the 70's and my grandfather was a big fan)and the Bears because I did live in Queensland for a while.

Yeah, I am spewing that I missed out on Fitzroy's 1989 and 1993 seasons, but this red and black curse has been well and truly disappeared, and on grand final day, I was celebrating with the best of them:D

Also, after 1994 I wasn't that interested in the AFL, because my heart was the local competitions (I followed Mernda and Panton Hill in the DVFL) because my mum and dad are life members at Mernda.

Although my main focus, football wise is still the local leagues (I now follow Tatura in the GVFL because it's near where I live now), but it's always good to head down to see the mighty Lions play a few times a year.
