My first installment of Adam Schneider's 2006 season. Although the swans didnt get off to a great start to their premiership defence, Schneider looked strong. He predominantly played across half-back and in the midfield with his main role being a run-with player on Lovett.

Lovett had barely an impact on the game, as Schneider worked very hard off the ball - showing an improved aerobic capacity this season. His hard work during the off season paid off as he spent more time on the ground than in his previous season and also did a great job keeping a lightning fast Lovett quite all night (even giving him cramp!!)

Schneider's skills were pleasing for so early in the season - showing some great touches and carrying of the ball - a few slow disposals let him down but overall his vision and footwork was great.

The only disappointing thing of the night was Schneider's new disastrous hairstyle - so hoping it starts to fad and he gets back to his roots....

Round 2 next week were Sydney fans will get their first chance to see the Schneiderman in full flight...

I thought Lovett looked sharp, lively and dangerous all night, until he cramped late in the game.

Agree with you totally Liz.Lovett was one player who looked very dangerous all night and set up a number of their goals.

Round 2.
Lets make this brief because having to relive that nightmare is not much fun for anyone....
The game wasn't pretty - by any stretch of the imagination. Schneider spent a lot of the time playing across half-back as well as in the back pocket and spent a bit of time in the midfield as well in the 2nd/3rd quaters.
He seemed indecisive throughout the match resulting in very slow and poor disposals especially when running through the middle of the field. Time and again he would provide run off halfback only to run too far by having a bounce placing pressure on himself. He's kicks didnt hit their targets and often handballed to players under pressure.
Having said that at least he did provide some run off halfback - something that was otherwise non-existent.

He was caught playing behind his man in defence a little too often - either a little bit of inexperience showing or tiredness.

He did take a few of the kick-outs - the ones he did quickly were effective and resulted in fast breaks down the flanks. A few of his decisions though were, yet again, indecisive and his decision making let him down and placed more pressure on an already fragile backline.

Oh this is really depressing... Onwards and upwards from here...

Just throwing it out there - what do people think of playing him in the backlines? Personally, I think he is a forward and had great success there in 2003 and think Roosy should just leave him there to do what he does best. Comments?
