View Full Version : Best Country Football Clubs
Here we are country lads, a thread to give you the opportunity to debate wether your home club is better than the others and the chance to prove it.
Being a Wangaratta boy my choice is the Wangaratta Rovers whom are widely regarded as the most succesful club in country Victoria with their 17 premierships in the Ovens and Murray Football League which is the most sucessful league to have played the Interleague competition. They also boast the record for any team in Victoria for the most players to play more than 300 games with 9 players to have passed the milestone. Along with this they have produced many fine AFL players with the most famous being the late Bob Rose of Collingwood who played many games with the pies and coached them to 5 grand finals in 6 years.
Well thats just a taste and I look forward to hopefully some interesting debates among you us country boys

well darc i presume u are talkin bout under 17 and around that age group all i can say is that Central Murray Have it over alot of the leagues in our area especially Sunrasia which is the breeding ground for absolute spuds! specially Imeprials
Nah Gormo mate im talking bout all grades eg 1sts, 2nds and 3rds.
Wangaratta Rovers 3rds have been in the last 4 Grand Finals and won 1 of them which is a disappointing statistic.
The Wang Rovers 3rds beat the Shepp Bears 3rds by 50 plus points 2 weeks ago in a practice match Haysey and last year defeated the eventual premiership winning Bears side by 4 points in a practice match. So yes they were quite a good side but seem to have had a huge exit of talent this year as have the Rovers boys.

This seems to be the problem i know many guys, darc, moved any to melbourne for uni or have moved to the first sides. But there are still some good young legs coming through from notre dam and gvgs whcih should be good for the club and i also think they are a strong chance for our cup this year
