Young Thomas was a bit stiff IMO, play a good debut. I'm afraid the hype surrounding Murphy may have got him over the line in the end.

You'll find the Herald Scum did their usual crap and pumped up Collingwood more by putting Thomas on the backpage of today's paper. Despite that hype Murphy got the nomination because he helped win the game with good decisions at crucial stages of the match.
What did Murphy need to do deserve the nomination in your view?
2 stand out options, they raffled it in the end.
Murphy if only cause he was the number 1 pick.
Dale will score on ein the next couple of weeks for sure.

The AFL got it right this week. Forget the stats. Murphy showed terrific poise in the last quarter. At one stage he ran in between 2 players, absorbed the bump, picked up the hard ball, accelerated out of the pack, and kicked it inside-50 to hit Waite on the chest.
He's already an inspiration to our players.
Flip the coin job this week. Murphy & Thomas were clearly the two standouts. Both should be very happy with their first up performances.
Didn't see Murphy play, so can only really say that by what I saw of Thomas that there is definitely a star in the making there. If he can kepp playing like that there's no doubt he will receive a nomination.

I don't read the Herald Sun rubbish.
I thought Murphy was pretty good, Thomas was pretty good. Murphy seemed more workman like, Thomas more flashy. Thought that might have got him over the line. I geuss they just went to the stats in the end.
(I have no problem with Murphy's nomination, played a good game and would have been nominated throughout the season anyway)

This question is rather pointless as Thomas will most likely get a nomination in the next few weeks, probably next week if he plays like he did last week.
Murphy or Thomas for mine. Both with 17 and 16 touches respectively.
Chris Knights also had 17 touches.
Reckon he will kick a goal and have a 20 touch + game against the Eagles this sunday.

The right person won the award, Murphy played well and picked the speed of the game up well. Tough for a smaller bloke too, real find for Carlton.
thomas showed a lot and it won't be long till he wins the award aswell, played on Ben hart which would have been a good experience, cause Hart reads the play so well.

I would love to say Birch, btu i think, god bless me for this sin, Dale Thomas was the best of them this week.
Sure, Murphy also had a bit of it, but he is a midfielder, he is expected to get the ball more then Thomas, who is a forward would.
if murph keeps it up he'll impove more each week if he plays all season
more wins the more brownlow votes we'll get
