Hi guys
Just wondering what Polak's story is right now. Is he injured? Is he playing WAFL? Is he far away from senior selection?
Thanks

Polak is playing for the Sharks in the WAFL. The coaching staff say that his field kicking isnt good enough to play in defence, so they want him to play in the foward line. Currently our foward line has many players in front of him for selection so doesnt look like being selected in the near future.
His only chance is if the club bring him in to play in defence if there are injuries

Playing WAFL as a forward...not really setting the world on fire by all reports...could be handy this week though...
He is a wasted talent...why he is playing Wafl, when he could have been off loaded in trade period is beyond me.

I would have been happy with a top 10 pick

And no one is that stupid.
I would be happy with a top 15-20 pick for this years draft, but I doubt we would get that now that he has been dumped to the WAFL....unless the weagles finally decide to trade for a Key forward.
Still might come good again, but likely only as a CHB for us.

They'd try and trade Gardiner, though...heh heh
unfortunately we'd probably accept :o

My man Antoni played WAFL for the first three rounds only last year and has never looked back since.
Polly did get 8 kicks, 6 h/b, 5 marks, 2 inside 50's and 1goal 3 behinds in a team that was flogged so it is not all bad.
good key position players are rare as hens teeth, polly is still only 21 and i am sure looking at him this year,he looks to have grown taller and starting to fill out. write him off at your own peril, his still got a lot more maturing to go both in his personal life and in football. he is still one of the best contested markers going around and will only get better.
Polak needed a stint in the WAFL as a wake-up call. If he is the talent everyone claims he is then he should be dominating in the WAFL environment, and what we have seen so far cannot be defined as dominating.
Hopefully he will come around and find what it takes to play to his potential. Could easily go either way IMO.

You try dominating at CHF in a side getting spanked week in week out.

I was surprised that he got as much of it as he did.
He needs a couple more weeks at the mighty sharks still IMO.

I'm with you.
I dont care if he doesnt play this year as long as he seems to be maturing as a person. Once (if) he takes that next step toward being responsible, and appreciative of his natural ability he could become a great footy player.
But I wouldnt give him a game until he shows he is ready.
Some guys just dont get it until they are well into their twentys.

he is only 21 and a very good pack mark, also not everyone developes at the same rate, worth hanging on to this year.he has been struggling with the a injury pre season.

So true. He has only got his marking ground skills ordinary.

He's out of contract this year, while most of our other "stars" and tied up till at least 2007. Will be interesting to see what sort of a deal, if any, they negotiate with Polly during the course of this year.

Hi Guys,
Walked down and saw him play on the weekend against the Demons as the ground is a short stroll from my place in Perth.
Looked very unfit and was swapping from end to end during the game.
Played on Mcdougall for a while, cant say the two of them set the world on fire but he would be a handy player to hold or would attract a lot of interest on the trade market I would think.
Sporny!
Long time no see mate.

McDUD V McPOLAK! Now there's a couple of underachieving first round picks.

I'll give you that, that they're both under-achieving. however, weags fans criticise McDougall for being SOFT... something Polak definitely is not.

Agreed McDud is soft as in body on body and commitment but Polak is soft as in not having the mental strength and commitment to apply himself sufficiently to make the most of the opportunities he has been given.
well he just doesnt have the heart to play AFL level, but we bloody better make sure we dont do another McPhee and rid of him and look how McPhee is a defending superstar same with clement.
i always regreted when we traded mcphee, what did we get in return? ive forgotten

I to was unhappy when McPhee went, but he was out of contract and it was a case of get something in return or he would nominate for the pre season draft and Freo got nothing.

I'm pretty sure he wanted to stay, but we had to give up someone to get Headland

But I thought he was playing for East Freo, not Southport...

Beat me to it. Hopefully he can continue on and kick 7 or 8 to force his selection next week.
Good to see Stribling doing well to.
