How many games do Richmond have to not win to get the extra pick?
When we we get that pick?

ok
i believe, udner the new system, a team has to have finished around the bototm of the table with less than 5 games won over TWO (2) consecutive years. So the priority pick system wont be used this year, as this is the first eyar of the system. So for richmond to end up with a priority pick, it would virtually have to bottom out for 2 years- and thats the good rule (it actually helps out really struggling clubs, yet acts as a detterent for clubs to bottom out, hence a more competitive league).
So it will really go:
Pick 1- 16th
Pick 2- 15th
pick 3- 14th
etc etc

Don't aim too high. ;)
The qualifying mark for a priority pick is 16 premiership points (defined that way to take draws into account).
If a club qualifies for a priority pick, then that priority pick occurs between rounds 1 & 2. So, for example if Richmond finished bottom with only 12 points, they'd have picks 1, 17, 18, 34 and so on (assuming they were the only team to qualify).
If a club qualifies for a priority selection in two consecutive years then (and only then) they get a priority pick before the 1st round.
One would hope that the combination of lowering the qualifying mark (formerly 20 points, now 16), together with moving the pick further down the draft, might make tanking a less attractive option towards the end of the season.
