Now we have two injuries to key position players,do you think cleve will be in line for a spot if he plays well for coburg on sunday?.

Where is Ray Hall at ?

Is Hall back next week? Staff will probably be in and Jackon may keep his spot. Therefore, Perhaps drop Krakouer and put Cleve in the forward pocket, or half forward swapping with Petts.

Saw him plenty of times last year in the reserves for Norwood, and he didn't even look ready to play seniors. I doubt he will play much this year, a long term prospect with plenty of potential but AFL ready, I highly doubt it.

Yeah but if IIRC you rate Oasis as the best band in the world.
Forgive me if I dont rate your opinion higher than Nicky Websters :)

What? I don't rate Oasis, so your point being?
IMO Hughes isn't quite ready...

Mustve been some other faux pas band you rated... Anyway, you're not a recruiter and many people rated Clever high, including 1 club who rated him #1.

Read my post again. I have seen PLENTY of Hughes play, moreso that you. He is a very good prospect, as I clearly stated above, but IMO not ready to play AFL yet. Get that?

Oh my.
Yes Cleve is a chance I reckon but alot of people still saying he's too thin. The ins and outs this week will be very interesting.
Hall/Stafford/Knobel before him IMO
Hall will be first in if he can get through his comeback game. Kel Moore has basically been unable to claim a position so far so this might be the opportunity he has been waiting for - when he gets back on the field.
I think McGuane has had a good preseason and shown some encouraging signs. Is very raw and still makes some strange decisions, but is athletic and has a lot of enthusiasm. We might see him before Hughes.

Its the guys who have been in the system for a couple of years that will get the first chances as this year progress......assuming they stand up at Coburg.
The four newbies this year....Cass, Clever, JON and Whitey need to get some senior footy and confidence under their belts before taking to the AFL arena.
Whitey has had one run in the NAB Cup and needs more exposure to senior level with Coburg. He now knows the level he needs to achieve to get a run during the real season.
Clever has played a couple of practice matches and looks the goods so some further development at Coburg will stand him in good stead to get a senior gig during the real season.
JON and Cass are going to be fantastic but the match committee haven't seen them play against adults at the high Victorian standard yet.
Hopefully they will all get a run during 2006 but the reality is that only a couple will get a game or two and the rest will have to keep working hard to get a gig in 2007.
Go Tiges.
JON and Cass are going to be fantastic but the match committee haven't seen them play against adults at the high Victorian standard yet.
If we find ourselves in another depressing, wrist-slashing situation expect JON to be wheeled out for a senior debut. The guy has some eye-catching, highlight-generating qualities and the fans will warm to him quickly. Perfect crumb to throw an angry support base.
Casserley will probably take longer. A lot of the WAFL footy has played was glorified keepings off. There are some games where he makes Tivendale like butch. The intereputed preseason, and the need to learn how to win the footy, will probably see him at Coburg most of the year.
Perfect crumb to throw an angry support base.
We`re not angry are we

Lets see how he goes in the twos first!!!. Hopefully Stafford and Hall aren't far off.Don't agree on Krakouer.Needs to get more of it,but we would badly miss the defensive side of his game.

Simmonds has been one our best so far, playing in the ruck. What use do we have for knoble if Simmonds can rest at fullforward swapping with Staff?

 This will probably be Stafford's last year, while Knobel will be able to play for at least another 4 - 5. He seems the perfect, long term insurance ruckman.

He would want to absolutely dominate. Our two players that got injured were defenders, not sure Cleve can play back there. Also Jackson looked quite good at FF.

Ummm, couldn't we just throw jacko down back and leave cleve in the forward line.

True, but for the time being id rather see Stafford up forward than knoble. keeping in mind id keep simmonds in the ruck.
Ummm, couldn't we just throw jacko down back and leave cleve in the forward line.:rolleyes:Jacko has been tried all over the ground. It would be mad to move him when he has found a bit of form playing at full forward. Keep him there where he can watch the game unfold and learn to read the play.
Can we call him the meat clever?
Playing on the expanses of Subi there could possibly be one or two places for some of the runners. Whoever are the best performed at Coburg today out of the likes of Roach, Rodan, Tambling, Meyer could be in line for selection. I reckon it might still be too early for JON.

For all the talk of need ing defenders, we still need to manufacture goals - we are a long way from our 15 goal target of last year. I'd like to see a free-moving, high leaping kid who actually knows how to kick for the sticks get a go.

Yes what about Kelvin Moore, and why can't Knobel be used in the backline?
