View Full Version : Patience for young guns
It was brought to my attention this week by the son of a AFL recruiter that a couple of Sydneys younger players are considering moving back to Melbourne at the end of the year as they can't see many openings for themselves in such a strong, stable team.I guess they were referring to the likes of Malceski who has been at the Swannies for a couple of years now and Moore who comes out of contract at the end of the season(I think). There are Mebourne sides they would walk into and apparantly they are frustrated at seeing former TAC Cup teammates getting plenty of game time.
I think its all just heresay but was wondering if anyone else has heard of this.If they are patient their time will come as Willo is getting on and seems abit slower this year but you can't wait around "hoping someone will get injured" to get a run.

The Swans must give Malceski, Moore, Schmidt and, if he earns a spot, Willoughby reasons to stick around. They are our future and they won't hang around indefinitely.
It's all very well to say that Williams, Kirk, Crouch, Mathews, Fosdike and Bolton are playing well and winning matches. But in three years those players will be 36 (and presumably retired), 32, 31, 30, 29 and 29. If we can't keep that lower tier then we're leaving far too much to Buchanan, Ablett, Schneider and McVeigh.

Any indication that Malceski, Moore and Schmidt are contemplating leaving isn't something to smile about.

Moore is only in his 2nd year and he was give a debut last year, I doubt he is frustrated at a lack of opportunities.
Malceski, while having a booming left kick needs to learn to improve his kicking accuracy.
Schmidt & Willoughby dominated the ACTAFL last year and probably are the most frustrated of the lot, if the story is true. However, there really haven't been much opportunities for them as they don't have the flexibility of a McVeigh or Moore to play in the forward line.
Oh yeah and Schmidt & Willoughby both are South Aussies, so that 'story' sounds quite fishy to me.
