Real concerns here. As courageous at the Johnson's- Mark and Jason- are, they're not top class onballers. Mark McVeigh needs to fill some of the void, and he is no doubt capable. Brent Stanton should continue his big progress. Hird will be in and out of the midfield rotations, but he wont be able to go hard all match.

Stanton, Dyson, Watson, Lovett, Slattery and Monfries should all be better than last season. Watson was non existant last season so if last weeks performance is anything to go by that's a huge improvement right there.

Campo and Heff are good additions. Campo is undoubted quality. Not top shelf any more, but his ability to get the footy and hit a target will be invaluable, especially when we have 2 of the best targets up forward in Lloyd and Lucas.

Heff is solid. I doubt he'll star but he does the 1%'s well and has a cool head. Most importantly he gives us an extra genuine midfielder for the rotation when last season we either had to bring in guys who just weren't good enough or run guys like JJ into the ground. If we can get back to using JJ as a burst player of sorts you know our midfield is going very well.

McVeigh, JJ, MJ and Pev should all be at least as good as last season. Hird should still have the ability to dominate when fit. Rioli if he gets fit will be a huge bonus.

So our midfield should be better than last season unless we get a very bad run with injuries. The next 2 weeks will tell us a lot about it though, having to perform away in Bris and then at the Dome vs the Dogs.

Absolutely slaughtered tonight. Midfield always looked on the back foot.

Promising signs from Watson / Heff in the middle at times BUT ..........

FFS..........the Johnsons & Pev have never been able to cut the mustard with the Bears midfield.

Pev is on borrowed time and the kids need to be let off the leash a bit more.

I could hardly watch every centre bounce coz I just new they were going to get it forward, every single time, was so bloody frustrating

I actually thought our midfield was okay, but our centre clearance work was terrible. Everytime we won the ball out of the middle, we looked okay. We just couldn't do it enough.

We got smashed in the ruck and it was a domino effect from there.

I thought we also go smashed when the ball was coming out of our forward line. The defensive pressure of our midfield was poor in that respect.
